That is a 100% correct remark. It would be more fun to have them do one Judo match and then one BJJ match with the correct rules set for each sport ( maybe make it 4 minute matches for each to level on that).
@@BrazilianJiuJitsu-p1k I have done both and both are sports based on a long forgotten martial art practiced on battlefields upto 17th century in Japan. Much has been lost in the period it was banned in Japan, before Kano started Kodokan.
Awesome, dynamic, exciting match! Both grapplers are obviously legit - judoka could have a better chance to negate the doubles by getting grips, but obviously that's easier said than done. Love stylistic matchups like this
absolutely nothing is coming from judo because everything is coming from Japanese jiujitsu that is the roots of judo, Aikido, karate, sambo…it’s the first codified martial technique popularized by Samurai.
I'm out of competition now, but way back in 1998 to 2002 I was training in BJJ at Gracie in Torrance. I noticed at tournaments, there was a trend with BJJ competitors over-patching their kimonos. I thought it was overkill. I wore a white Bad Boy kimono, which I believed was one of the 1st editions. It just had the bad boy face in black outlined with red, on the left chest area, and that was it. Damn I wish I never sold that kimono. Many memories in it. Anyway, the only patch I sewed on was the large blue school logo on the back. Personally I thought the human billboard look was ridiculous. I'm not sure if they did that to look intimidating or well-trained, kind of like boy scouts wear all those merit badges, or not. Anyway, this dude reminded me of that time period when quite a few BJJ competitors did that. Well looks like they still do.
Jucao choke attempt at 2:41. Bjj guy not bad-- its not easy to shoot in from a distance like that with gi. Appears the judo guy didnt prepare too much for that, being that is not allowed in Judo.
The BJJ guy is Marcos Satoshi Souza, obviously a great BJJ guy. The Judo guy is a Kosen Judo specialist, Koji Komuro is the best Judo newasa ever in the match.

wow that size difference. forgot to mention. bjj gi is much tighter and harder to get a grip on. so weight and grip advantage to the bjj guy and it still took him 10 mins. interesting.
Get yourself into a judo competition against the same guy and let's see how you would do (congrats to the bjj guy for winning this one though). Never forget that these are sports...
Yeah sadly IJF banned leg grabs so is like they do not focus more on grabbing the Legs and doing take downs and in this situation is more like no sport so the judo guys should’ve focus more and use all the judo arsenal and forget is not the olimpics but great match from both anyway
How judoka can defend his legs if JUDO rules have changed and no legs attack is allowed. modern judo is LAME so modern JUDOKAS. (Old generation of REAL JUDO is here 1990-2008)
Great match. Thanks for posting. The Judoka needs to defend the double leg.

Classic judo has plenty of leg attacks and leg defence

It is not judo vs bjj, it is a bjj player and a judo player playing in bjj rules. If they play judo the nascar gi guy wouldn't stand a chance

Because it is largely unfair for the white gi.
