Agree totally @ mental health. I too have been slowed down by clutter. I've tried, then like you said, we put if off and get discouraged. Never occurred to me it's why I've been saying,I can't get my mojo back to knit. A lot of this is due to being in lockdown from the Covid years. So glad I saw this inspiration to work harder getting rid of things. I feel more inspired to do so thanks for sharing this with the world!
It's interesting how many crafters have independently arrived at the same decision to slow down adding to their stash and work with the yarn they already own. I too have been on a quest to live a more minimalist lifestyle and declutter. While the amount varies from person to person but in general, I find that all of the 'stuff' can become overwhelming and quite stressful. It is so funny that I mention that on one of the most indulgent days of the year, Mardi Gras!!!! ⚜
Hey girlfriend - I TOTALLY remember where you got the Julie Asselin Leizu DK - it was with me in Vancouver at Knit City - long before COVID. I still have mine, waiting for the right project. So good to see you filming again. ttfn
I find clutter for sure increases my anxiety, so I am constantly editing and removing clutter. My yarn was a biggie- I bought so so many single skeins years and years ago. I went through it all and found many of them I didn’t really like. Destashed so much and felt lighter. I learned a lot about myself. I felt like I was drowning under stuff. Bravo to you for facing it and talking about it. ❤
Great video! I am with you on trying to keep the clutter down. I def always shop from my stash first and love it! It was great to see you in person in Barcelona ❤
I love your bingo card! And I agree it is great fun to knit from stash! You stashed all that wonderful stuff with a reason! So knitting it should be a happy occasion and not something relating to duty or guild or some other negative emotion. I never liked the scarcity marketing. I see so many people that fall for it and then they feel like they have to wait to knit with it because it is so very precious and it needs the absolute perfect project... And that is almost paralysing. No fun! The crochet granny square cardigan in all the different shades of pink from your stash will be such a fun and happy project!
I jumped on this from the Twin Aura knits podcast and love hearing about the genesis of the idea. I have been doing quite a few projects with stash while participating in the 12 casts ons KAL. All mine came from older stash this year except one that I got the yarn at my LYS for 70% off. I did use a stash pattern though! Your Love Note is stunning. I think I might cast one on for the Valentines cast on with red stash mohair and sparkly sock yarn.

Totally on the same page with you with knitting down the stash! I've been thinking the same thing and is one of my 2024 goals.
