do not forget two up a same time does not mean they both fire then one is on comp. stroke the other is on exhaust stroke the roter takes care of the firing
you left out a capistor in your first diagram its a very important part of a distribtor also he way the points work they are closed most the time placing a gd on the coil and capistor leads ( no current flow ) as they go open per piston the gd is lifted off allowing current to flow threw capisitor to gd this curren passes thru primary coil greating a magnet effect in sec coil steppin voltage very high to dist and plugs the capasitor has to be correct mfd value to match the coil electricly ( refered to as a series resonate circuit) wrong value mfd will pit points becaus voltag can not get thru the capistor it will jump the open points pitting them
Congratulations to a great teacher I enjoy listening to all ignition systems
Excellent. Nothing like historical context to give a better understanding.
Thanks... You have your own folder in my play-list!!!
