Honesty my trick is, i NEVER approach a conversation like im attempting to flirt and I never assume they are flirting with me. Seriously, if you're at some kind of gathering, whether it be a bar, a club, a friends house, or something interest related like a board game store, if you see someone who catches your eye, first off, if its just "damn they attractive" dont go for it because that is a terrible conversation starter and honestly if i have reaslistic standards, there are lots of attractive people out there, that really shouldn't be enough to grab your interest anyway.
