Wunderbar. Besonders berührt hat mich der Besuch der Kirchenruine St.Nicolai (ca. 1:10:00). Ich sah dieses Mahnmal zum ersten Mal 1973 mit 4 Jahren durch die Rückscheibe des VW Käfers meines Vaters. Wir kamen von der Bundesgartenschau 1973 in Planten & Blomen. Als Kind war ich von dieser riesigen schwarzen Kirche, von der mein Vater sagte, sie sei im Krieg ausgebombt, sofort fasziniert. Meine Mutter wurde 1943 bei diesen Angriffen im Hamburger Feuersturm verschüttet, ist heute (sie wird dieses Jahr 96) in der Corona Pandemie zielmlich "gechillt". Ihre Maske sitzt beim Einkaufen immer perfekt. Längst daran gewöhnt. Ich war zuletzt 2019 bei einem HH Besuch bei der St.Nicolai Kirche - gehe da immer wieder gern hin.
Wonderful. I was particularly touched by the visit to the church ruins of St.Nicolai (approx. 1:10:00). I saw this memorial for the first time in 1973 when I was 4 years old through the back window of my father's VW Beetle. We came from the Federal Garden Show in 1973 in Planten & Blomen. As a child, I was instantly fascinated by this huge black church that my father said was bombed out in the war. My mother was buried in these attacks in the Hamburg firestorm in 1943, and today (she will be 96 this year) she is deliberately "chilling" in the corona pandemic. Her mask always fits perfectly when you go shopping. Long used to it. I was last at the St. Nicolai Church on a HH visit in 2019 - I always like to go there.
Interesting. It's obvious from this video that Hamburg is providing many people with a prosperous, happy life. I especially enjoyed seeing all the couples holding hands, something you don't see much of in most big cities. And they certainly work at keeping it clean . . . pay attention Italy! On the flip side, it also shows that we are kidding ourselves if we think that planet destroying, massive over-consumption will end. If given a chance, this is how most people want to live, and its not obvious to them that it's all really a bit insane. Between COVID and the weather extremes, it seems the planet is telling us we have to change, but I do not believe we are really paying attention. We just want to get back to "normal" as quickly as possible, and go shopping on the Neuer Wall! 😷
