What makes Stephen so great is how he's a musician first and a comedian second. Many comedians who've implemented instruments that I've seen don't really care about the music, they just want to get that punchline out after the same two or three chords. Stephen grew past that.

This song came up on my Apple Music rotation. I was expecting a beautiful indie song. The “brown rice” line got my attention and as soon as “and fuckin’ tofu” and “I’d blow a goat for some bacon right now” I instantly became a fan. I got a beautiful song and a new song to listen to whenever I fuck up that Whopper w/cheese
It truly is staggering that this beautiful harmony occurs, and then like 30 seconds later, same song, same singers, utter the phrase "I'd rather eat a hobo's asshole." lol
while expecting pure comedy, I started out no liking this song, but after listening more and more as part of his show, I caught the jokes and I now believe it's his most beautiful song. the singing and harmonies bring me to tears at times!
I saw him on the Lion tour at the Wilbur in Boston. Truly a special night. My father came with me and he had never heard Crazy Peanuts, which they encored with. He is a truly funny comedian and a brilliant songwriter.
Love the growth he's shown in his career. He's definitely a musician who happens to be funny, not a "comedy musician." His last two records are beautiful if you don't pay attention to the glorious filth he sings (and makes Courtney sing!).
