@@Abrionown I'm sure there's more to it but essentially Reagan is one of the most popular right wing presidents of our time and Bush was something of a warmonger. You don't normally see people in this space (musicians or young people in big cities like NY or LA - even though Watts it's that young) supporting anyone on the right. I think it's ironic. That's normally the case but idk anything about Reggie Watts. Also it's just funny because it's a 40 year old presidential campaign so it's like "why are you even wearing that?"
@@David-ck3gv the '80 campaign changed the face of America, both in how elections or presidencies were run as well as the culture in general. It is 100% tongue in cheek that he is wearing it as both men on the shirt are considered the right-wing boogiemen behind the drug war/epidemic and terrorism as we know it today.
@@no_guarantees they don't use prerecorded loops. Everything they do in this video either comes from the keyboard (using pre saved sounds) or the microphone and it goes through the looper.
I love how Marc is so courageously wild & free. I would be so scared to add my randomness & weirdness to these epic tracks my peers were building But Marc just owns it & jumps in. I absolutely adore this quality of his, though I know Marc has worked on this area & has practiced a lot. & he doesn’t always get it perfect either, but it’s how he keeps moving & flowing & doesn’t just stop or quit if something doesn’t always come out perfect.
oh i wouldnt be entirely too sure about that, marc is human im pretty sure hes shitting himself on the inside but he WANTS IT more than anything, and hes willing to stumble to be able to run with giants. i respect the ever loving shit out of that.
Marc's bass lines are always dead on. It's sometimes hard to tell who's conducting, but Reggie keeps everything flowing. The balance is impressive between all 3. It's crazy how difficult something probably was maybe 10 years ago to mix, but the technology has allowed musicians to create textures in this way without actual instruments.
Instrument just means "thing you touch/manipulate in a skilled way to make music", so just because its electronic doesn't mean it's less of an instrument than a guitar or violin.
@@NoTengoIdeaGuey I don't disagree with you, but there is a huge difference in what sounds someone is capable of producing with pads, keyboards and a microphone vs a "traditional instrument". Also, a very different skill set required to produce those sounds. Playing a guitar, and especially a violin, is physically much harder than this, but the talent and skill required to create great music is what you are referring to. I've used a wide variety of these tools over the years, and learning a traditional instrument is still a prerequisite to get to a point where you could create music of this level. All of them play at least 1 "traditional" instrument, and very likely multiple.
What reality is this? Marc for CERTAIN did not imagine when he started uploading goofy videos to the internet that it would set him upon a path to improvising with some of our generations most incredible artists
Isn’t that inspiring? Not in music but in my own field I’ve sometimes approached “giants” and found they were willing to collaborate.. assuming you worked hard to that point, you pinch yourself, and hope you can rise to the occasion (which he does!)
Its crazy that they had so much energy together that they forgot to do a outro they just kept making music and made the outro into a whole song. reggie was like oh wait let me say goodbye lmao xD
In high school, I used to think I sucked at music, having to play the triangle and the maracas. But now, watching these beat maker synthetyzing every sound. YET, playing a new maracas tempo over every beat. I realize I was the most important part of the orchestra!
Hey I got stuck with the triangle too when young, but I ended up picking up drums, and eventually guitar and have been a professional musician for 25 years now, so don't feel bad
Underestimated their combined power. Put it on in the background while reading thinking it'd be nice n ambient what with FlyLo. Next minute I'm writhing like a lizard, face is melting and I'm astral projecting at how unbelievably cosmic this collab was. Dad this is sum STANK 🔥🔥🔥

@@mysigt_ the only person I could think that can keep up with the chaos of Thunder, Flylo, Marc and Reggie is Guthrie. Maybe Mayer. If anyone knows any better fit for a electric/hip-hop group lemme know
Collaboration streams are like improv comedy- always say “yes.” Go with what they are throwing down and it makes the group better. And all three do that perfectly here. No ego. No “lead.”
The chemistry between these three is amazing - Reggie and Marc are legendary improvisational artists, while FlyLo is probably the best producer in hip-hop of the past decade. This was a huge collab.
Makes me feel we are in the right timeline now, despite all the bullshit. The synergy and talent between these three coming together gives me hope for the future, good vibes from here on out.
IMAGINE if all the great composers like Bach and Bethoven got together with their orchestras back in the day! It would've sucked; this is way more dope
Listening to this collaboration released a knot in my chest I didn't even know I was holding on to. Like it provided relaxation from stress that I'd just thought was forever there.
To be fair, Flying Lotus is a known Producer & Artist that has been doing this for a very long time. Hence his Albums, Videos and contributions. But... Reggie is an all around amazing artist too, has been for a while. I knew on Comedy bang bang that he was meant for greater things. Marc??? listen. I am not sure why in the world is he not on top of all music platforms at this point. When he makes an official album... I'm sure the world will finally catch up.
@@ikamille I think Marc's talent is ethereal and it's meant to be enjoyed in the moment. I'm not saying an album he produces wouldn't be fire, but so much of what I love about him is seeing him create something out of nothing. That said, Marc please record an album!

When I was younger I used to love to listen to the Essential Mix on Radio One. I don't *love* house, but the way those live sets would evolve without ever stopping represented to me what modern music could be (20 years ago). It is truly breathtaking to see where that style of longform electronic performance has come. That Marc, Reggie, and Lotus' musical influences are more in line with my own preferences only makes it that much better. Thank you.
I once met Flylo in a music festival in Houston. I just looked up at him, he looked at me smiling, I gave him a good ol' handshake thanking him for such inspirational music, he thanked my approach and we parted ways. Twas magical. His energy just oozes confidence and good will. God bless this man and Marc and Reggie! What a combo !

I just love Marc’s spiraling, cyclone dance move. Especially because he seems to truly be in the zone and 1000% dialed in.
Marc- "YOU GOTTA!"
Reggie- "ARMADA!"
FlyLo, smiling, slowly picks up the mic, and whispers- "...Horchata!"
timestamp for this?
@@Jen-br5hx 10:32

I was cheesing so hard when this started, they were all just smiling so hard and trying not to laugh. they were loving it, that was a bonding moment.
@@christophewells3918 I've been repeatedly coming back to it. The instrumental is incredible, and the whole thing is so powerful. I occasionally catch myself randomly singing "it's okayyyyy to love yourself! It's okayyyyy to hate yourself! YOU GOTTA GO BACK TO THE LOVE, BXTCH!"
...Quite honestly, I had such a terrible day today, but I come back to this, because it reminds me everything is okay.
Reggie Watts wearing a Reagan & Bush '80 shirt is the most Reggie Watts.
Sorry I’m not American and I don’t know a lot about him, so I am just genuinely asking myself, is there some hidden meme behind or what?

1 minute before they finish he decides is the time to pull out the dreamy CS-80 BladeRunner synth. The man is style-lord.
I have listened to this all the way through maybe 40 times - this stream has completely changed how I look at creating music.
I agree!!
Agreed.
keep in mind some loops (drums) for example may have been pre recorded, but for the most part this was all impromptu, Salud.
Same!
@@no_guarantees they don't use prerecorded loops. Everything they do in this video either comes from the keyboard (using pre saved sounds) or the microphone and it goes through the looper.
Flylo's jazzy chords and sound design on his instruments adds so much
Fun fact he is Alice Coltrane's (John Coltrane's wife) nephew.
@@toasterbot2k holy shiz I didn’t know that! Huge Coltrane fane as well as flying lotus.
I love how Marc is so courageously wild & free.
I would be so scared to add my randomness & weirdness to these epic tracks my peers were building
But Marc just owns it & jumps in.
I absolutely adore this quality of his, though I know Marc has worked on this area & has practiced a lot.
& he doesn’t always get it perfect either, but it’s how he keeps moving & flowing & doesn’t just stop or quit if something doesn’t always come out perfect.

I think I discovered the cause for why today is the hottest day on record in so many places
"hottest day on record" would be good name for this as a live album.
Yeah, thanks a lot guys! My plants are dying because of you and your sexy beats.
The amount of talent at that table is absolutely terrifying in the best possible way
Immaculate! I can’t wrap my head around how much talent can be in one room sometimes and then BAM! Marc, Reggie & Flying Lotus?!

There's no hope without Ice-T.

When I was younger I used to love to listen to the Essential Mix on Radio One. I don't *love* house, but the way those live sets would evolve without ever stopping represented to me what modern music could be (20 years ago). That Marc, Reggie, and Lotus' musical influences are more in line with my own preferences only makes it that much better. Thank you.
