Oh boy, being from NYC myself, How did I miss this 50th anniversary GFA..
This was fascinating to walk alongside you for this occasion. Your guitar compared very favourably as a concert guitar. Projection was superior to some guitar and the tone was beautiful. I love the fact that you have introduced a variable action via the neck angle. I know some would argue it's not a good idea tonally, but the tone didn't seem to suffer. I also like the finishing of the guitar, that the neck is separately French polished. Thanks.
Love your videos! I use a vacuum press to glue my ukulele bridges and am pleased to see a pro do it the same way!
Great video! Thanks for sharing
Thank you for taking us on this journey with you. As a amateur luthier it’s always welcomed and appreciated to have a professional share their thoughts and impressions…. with regards to the technical aspects of construction and the results. So the hot question… who made the final 4?
I'm glad you find this kind of perspective helpful and I hope it helps you improve your own building. With respect to the final four, are you asking about the Luthier Showcase? If you asked 20 people in the audience, you'd get twenty different answers because they're all that good and everyone has a different opinion on what sounds good. That's what makes it fun.
Mr. Lee - Thanks for taking us on such a cool and informative journey. Your passion for the craft really shines through, and I had a great time learning new ideas! Keep sharing your knowledge and love for what you do - it's inspiring! ✌
Thanks very much for the uplifting comment.
Your content is amazing!!! thanks Gary for taking us with you into this journey 🤗
My pleasure. Thanks for watching.
Nice guitar!!
Gary, thank you for this extraordinarily complete and well done look at one of the most memorable GFA Conventions I have attended. I plan to use your video to help me encourage friends who have never attended...but their love of classical guitar makes me think that they would be blown away by the experience!
Jeff, I'm glad we were able to experience this one of kind festival together, and hope more people join us the next time.
Thank you this was wonderful to watch.
Thanks for watching and if you haven't done so already, I hope you get to attend a GFA convention or similar festival one day.
Thanks for this vlog! I hope to see this kinda vlogs more often on your channel.
Glad you enjoyed the getting out of the workshop and into the community.
@@GarrettLeeLuthier ofcourse, not everyone has the luxury of visiting such communities, let alone being a part of one. So this vid is much appreciated! As a guitarist, I wish I could be there and try one of your guitars.
thank you very much
You are very welcome!
What a great guitar. I just heard Simon play a Coste study on it. Beautiful!!! Quick question, did you make the bridge vacuum press?
Simon played beautifully! The vacuum press is from Luthiers Mercantile. I don't know if it's still made.
Sorry, but iI think this not Amazon rosewood. This is indian rosewood.
