Hey David, I was looking through your Good Book : Atheist universe to see if you had noted in it how the following three verses taken together really put the Bible into self destruct: Matthew 10v5 ," go only to the Jewish folk " especially combined with St Peter's vision in Acts 10 and John 3v16, "Whoever believes will not die but have eternal life." A surprising thing in the Bible: Acts 10 vision is that St Peter, who was supposed to be the head of the church, acts like he had never heard John 3:16. You would have expected the voice of the Lord to rebuke Peter by saying, "What part of WHOEVER don't you understand ? If the gospel was only for Jewish folk then I would have said "Any Jewish person who believes will have eternal life"" especially since John 14v26 said that the Holy Spirit would remind of all that Jesus had said. However Peter could have defended himself by saying, "Well in Matthew 10v5 you said only to go to Jewish folk and not gentiles or Samaritans; The lost sheep if Israel" but then Jesus could have replied that that was only the priority for that one week since they already knew the back story. On the other hand why didn't Jesus clarify while still alive ? Why is there no record of the disciples questioning the apparent contradiction after hearing John 3v16 for the first time? Also why didn't the Lord rebuke Peter by saying, "Why would i give you the great commission of Matthew 28 to go to all nations if the gospel was only for the Jewish folk ? On the other hand there is the option that the Holy Spirit didn't remind Peter of John 3:16 because Jesus never spoke those words and it was a later insert into scripture by those who wanted to open the gospel to gentiles. In any case it is odd that Jesus never offered on the table cloth vision to Peter the foods native to the Americas with a map drawn on the table cloth showing the way to the Americas. The fishermen disciples might have made easy work sailing the Atlantic in their little fishing boats if Jesus was there calming the storms and making the wind blow in a favourable direction and windspeed. Potatoes, Turkey and tomatoes would be more tempting than snake IMO. A Vision of people of all skin tones entering the pearly gates of heaven would have been a clearer vision to show Peter that the gospel was for anyone in the whole world in His hands. It was quite helpful of the devil to take Jesus up to a high place and show him all the kingdoms of the planet. Pity Jesus wasn't paying attention when he saw the Americas otherwise he could have instructed the disciples to sail there. I guess the moral of this story is that you should scrutinize what your enemies say to you incase they divulge useful information. When the devil took Jesus up to a high place to show him all the kingdoms of the world, did he trick Jesus into thinking that the countries around the Mediterranean was all there was on the planet ? Or maybe Jesus refused to sell his soul to the devil for those countries because he knew there was so much more to the planet ? What, a tenth of the planet? I’m not selling my soul for as little as that, I want it all, at least include America and Australia.
Happy 2023
Happy new year David 🙂
You too!!!
Honestly I’m glad this year is over. I’m looking forward to 2023.
