Looking at the Smith Embark frames with the Photochromic lenses. Do you still get the 100 percent protection from UV A/B/C? Are they UV 400? Do you loose protection when the lenses lighten up?
Yes, they do! You do not lose any protection when they transition to the lighter stage as it requires exposure to UV light, meaning they will only lighten up when there is no UV to trigger the transitional properties in the lens.
So my GF has some £200 D&G sunglasses and just out of curiosity i wanted to see how good the lenses were. Long story short they were rubbish, like 2 dolla glasses. I told her to try on my smith, non-polo haywires. She said, and i qoute "wow its like everything is in HD" Chromopop really is that good imo, it makes things, like said in this video "POP" and almost feel HD or like your wearing prescribed glasses. If smith would just offer more European style glasses, id buy more of their stuff
Hello! Green mirrored lenses are usually paired with a bronze base tint for contrast enhancement. Blue mirrors typically pair with a grey base tint that delivers more neutral colors and tones to one's outlook. Depending on your environment, you may prefer one over the other. Dryer climates are good for grey+blue, lush floral for bronze+green. If they're polarized, you'll see fisherman with the grey+blue for use in open ocean settings, and the bronze+green for freshwater lakes, streams, and deltas.
I ordrred the Outlier 2s. How come many of Smiths models incling the outlier 2s don't offer the choice of Chtomopop PLUS. I would of course have chosen the highest end option possible. Why don't all models offer the PLUS?
I cant choose between polarchromic copper mirror or the polarchromic ignitor. Which would be more suited for freshwater fishing? Rivers lakes etc... Is there a big difference between the 2? Thanks
You should go for non-polarized and contrast-enhancing! In the Chromapop world would be the Bronze Mirror, Brown, or the Contrast Rose Color. If you're looking for prescription options, our friendly, knowledgeable opticians would be perfect for you! You can get them at 888-831-5817
What glasses at the 7:30 mark ? What mirror finish ? Chromapop glass GRAY mirror or BLUE mirror ? On smiths website they have 2 mirror options the blue and gray but in the gray description it says they have a blue mirror finish?? Very confusing
@@maxnelkin596 the blue mirror lens ( like the one in the video at 7:30) is blue mirror lens with a grey base. It will put a sort of Greyish tone on things which I personally like. Amber or rose base lens will put a purplish or pinkish hue on things and I could never get used to that. Smith Polarized Platinum is an amazing lens. If I could have that lens in my Costa Reefton frame it would be the perfect sunglasses for me
That's a great question! So, there is a bit of color that is imparted in the base color of the lenses from the mirror coating process. In the case of a green mirror, there is actually the potential for about 15% rose added to the base color. That is almost certainly what you're picking up on. If you have any more specific color questions, our friendly, knowledgeable opticians are always happy to help at 888-831-5817!

Can't decide between ChromaPop Glass Bronze to Brown lens. How does they compare? Which is better for super sunny days? Does the Brown lens has mirror finish? If not, does it impact light filtration?
Hi there! The ChromaPop Bronze has a mirror coating and ChromaPop Brown does not. Of the two, Bronze would be recommended for sunny days. Thanks for reaching out!
Ooh, a question for the ages! You are comparing two top-tier lens techs. As it turns out, there is not a, objective answer here. They are both great and have their own strengths. You would be best off by reaching out to our opticians to help you determine which is best for you. You can get us at 888-831-5817
What do you think of Smith's ChromaPop lenses? Let us know in the comment section!
ChromaPop + polarized Ignitor RX = very happy. The trivex lens is much lighter weight than my old Techlite lens and the clarity is pretty good.
The last pair Rob has on at 7:15 mark. What is the frame name ?
Do you have a guide on what color lenses are good for what? Green vs grey etc
What Frame and lens color is that at 5:00 mark?

Does the Techlite Polarchromic Copper Mirror have chromapop technology as well
Do mirror lenses affect what you actually see through the lens or are they purely esthetic? I’m looking for good lenses for inshore fishing.
Hi, what about the Smith Embark Blue/Copper? Are they good?
What is the difference between the blue and green mirrored lens? Which is better for what? Thank you!

What one did you get? I’m trying to decide against the 2 also I fish rivers and lakes in Indiana.
Can you recommend a lens color and frame for tennis? I am in Florida so it’s very sunny. Thanks
