To be fair, this is a fairly rational take. He’ll be a fine QB and it’s silly to judge a rookie QB before he’s played even a full season.
That said, speaking as a Commanders fan who lives in Chicago, my main beef with Caleb isn’t even Caleb, it was the pundits and fans who won’t acknowledge that Caleb is at least partially at fault for his struggles, and he has struggled. His accuracy is terrible, his decision-making is questionable, and he’s playing scared. The offensive line is terrible, but his supporting cast and defense are good enough that it shouldn’t matter to this extent in the W/L columns. Some of it has to be on him.

Caleb's average time to throw or be pressured is 2.4 seconds, Fields was 3.2 seconds last year.
That's Justin's 3rd season vs Caleb's rookie season. By basically any metric Caleb is already better in his rookie season than Fields was after 3. I like Fields, I thought we screwed him over but you're nuts if you think he's a better QB than Caleb.

It’s not looking good for Caleb. If he doesn’t work his ass off this off-season. He’s got no chance and I hate saying that but reality is reality

A couple of weeks ago Caleb threw for 340 yards and 2 TDs against the Vikings. On Monday night he looked rough. So is Caleb a different QB from a few weeks ago? Or are the Vikings coaches good enough to make adjustments from last game and the Bears coaches are not. Add in his stating left tackle didn't play the other night, and there are reasons. He'll be fine if they get a line in front of him and some competent coaches.

Dan Just said the "Quiet part out loud", Caleb was supposed to be the better QB of all the QBs drafted this year! The Bears had arguably the best playmaker in the game who was developing into a better QB he just needed coaching. Caleb isn't the playmaker JF is nor will he ever be. Ryan Poles and the bears got the entire 2024 off-season wrong and they shouldn't have drafted Caleb Williams! I'm simply waiting for someone to finally acknowledge it. The guys like Louis Riddick, Merril Hoge, and other former players and current players in the league who told you to keep Justin and fix the team around him, which since you didn't address it for Justin you still have to address it now. Ryan Poles, Kevin Warren, the McCaskie's got it wrong and the bears are worse off then when they had Justin. The National media needs to say they got it wrong but I know that will never happen. Mel Kiper for damn sure should not be talking about who the can't miss players are, because right now Caleb looks like a 3rd, 4th round selection at best!
