I am surprised that as long as that crack is that it wasn't leaking there too. You definitely know what you're doing! I also do most of the work on my truck's. Everyone keeps telling me that I need to upgrade and buy new trucks and sell my late 90's Pete's with Cats, and I just tell them these are the upgrades and why would I want high payments when these are paid for and don't owe me anything. I can rebuild the engine for less than what it'd cost to replace the emissions system on a newer truck. They say but you'd have warranty, I say ya just like so and so that's had his truck in the shop for 2 months waiting on parts and still having to make those payments without working.
Knowledge is money saved..Your the real deal Martin!! I tip my hat to your expertise in so many areas..You are definitely NO steering wheel holder! Great channel!!
Lots of fun to watch someone who knows exactly what they are doing. Thanks for sharing. Too bad the Ford isn't easy. Maybe you could start up a new channel Martin's Mechanics. See ya
Nice video Martin. Keep the repair videos coming. It makes me feel good about getting a new truck every 300,000 miles (30 months). I use to do it just like you. I’m just over it. I know you don’t believe me. But new truck doesn’t cost any more then running an old truck when your done crunching the numbers. I’m at $1,750 a month cost of ownership(even less after depreciation)and no repairs. Just oil change. I run dedicated freight and can not take a week off to work on the truck. So for me a new truck works out better. But you remind me about back in the day. I have been trucking for 37 years!
I hear ya, it’s not for everyone. If I had a dedicated deal every week I would probably do the same. But right now the truck doesn’t cost me anything other than insurance. The $1000 I spent on it recently doesn’t justify a new truck for what I do and how I operate.
You guys are my kind of folks! I grew up in a trucking family close to where Alice is from, my dad hauled into Canada daily! Your videos are inspiring and helpful. Shiny side up driver!
This comment has nothing to do with this video I just felt the need to say this so here I go lol. You know Martin it’s drivers like you and Alice that’ll still be on the road trucking even after this recession/crisis is over because you both are not quitter’s instead you’re people with great work ethic’s so keep on keeping on and thanks for being you.
Good job Martin. I have a old isx. In a 2000 international bought new. Still running it. Has 1,770,000 miles mine would be easy. No coolant going through mine. You are a handy man. Can’t wait to watch rest of show. SAy hi to better half. Love your video’s.
The cm871 is heaviest of all the isx, it’s much bigger physically than the single cam common rail isx and x15. Actually flows enough for 900hp to the ground.
Before there was 'Tool Time With Tim', now we have... "Manifold Maintenance With Martin" 🤣 Great vid as always guys. Martin showing his creds as a teacher with his explanations while he works. 👍👍
Hi smarten awesome job.say this is dave from fargo nd.this not truck related but just wanted to let yall know we just had our baby at 621 am this morning.im so proud and very tired.but I feel like I know you all and its just a very very proud day for us.my truck went down and I believe this is reason why.have a great day my friend.
See you have your EGT sensor on the outside of the manifold. Going to add one to mine. Mechanic told me 6-8inches from turbo. I installed one on my excursion in the manifold, which is where everyone says to install for more accurate reading. Question, how accurate do you think your setup is? I’d rather not drill into the manifold, and the EGT coming from turbo side would read 2-300 degrees off.
I explain this in a future video, not measuring egt really just heat soak. Doesn’t give you a true egt reading. I’d say in the manifold is more accurate, reason why you don’t see them on class 8 trucks is they’re worried about the thermocouple breaking off and taking the turbo out from day in and day out usage. Good rule of thumb is 8” behind turbo and to get a true egt just add 300-350* and that’s you exhaust temp at the manifold.
I love watching Martin work on his truck. I went a community college about 8 years ago. (Diesel teck), but watching martin, he could be an instructor. I'm still learning . Great content and explanation. It's obvious Martin is mechanical.
The Lake House comment was sooooo funny!!!!!{not sure if it was this video}. I love those guys but it sickens me to think those kids are growing up this spoiled. It hurts the content a bit. Love you guys and all your videos. The "Real Life" is the struggle and what we have to do - to get out in front of it, is content that matters
Turbos are better than headers Kirk. Although they make equal length stainless turbo manifolds but those wouldn’t hold up in OTR trucking, more of a pulling/race deal.
@@TruckingTogether i meant a header feeding the Turbo but i get what you mean ....great job Martin ....Fancy should be ready for some nice loads soon .....shiny loads of coarse 🤣🤣🤣☝️💪

I agree with that 100% and wouldn’t buy a newer isx myself. To many little issues. Keep that cat, least you know it will get you home!

Not sure, we will talk about a live and let you guys know.

We transfer the GoPro footage through their app and we use Kinemaster for editing.

I’m guessing that engine has been inframed at some point? If it has a million I’m impressed
No, never been opened up. Only thing ever done was turbo and little odds and ends, trans and a clutch on this truck.
