He played on loads of Elvis tracks along with tons of other massive artists
Glenn Campbell was part of the Wrecking Crew, a group of session musicians based in LA. They were the go-to group for a lot of artists during the 1960s. Also among them was Leon Russell, keyboardist that had also worked with Joe Cocker, and Carol Kaye, whose distinctive bass work can be heard on the Beach Boys 'Good Vibrations'.
Excellent choice to showcase Glenn's skill set. An underrated guitarist.
Glen Campbell, Jerry Reed and Roy Clark are three of my favorite guitarist. Great reaction
I had not seen this clip. Truly impressive. Thanks for introducing me to this clip. I'm going to suggest you check out "The William Tell Overture" by him. There is a version where he is playing it on a twelve string which is impressive to me. He also did a duet of "Ghost Riders In The Sky" with Roy Clark. Thanks for a great reaction.
Classical gas is another
I think thats one of the things i love about country you cant hide your playing. Like with rock or metal there is so much other sounds being played loud if you miss a note or mess something up a little its hidden. With country if you mess something up everyone hears it.
I may be remembering wrong, but I believe he was also self-taught.
Oh yeah, hes a beast. Theres some clips of him playing with Roy Clark too.
I spoke too soon. You just said it.lol
Jerry Reed, Roy Clark, Glenn. Guitar gods. Period.
Self-taught. Could not read music either. He was originally with the wrecking crew
Dude, you've heard more of Glen's guitar than you know - he was part of the Wrecking Crew. There is a documentary of them, you should really check it out. It blew my mind.
You also need to check out Roy Clark and Chet Atkins
ADRIAN PARIS CAN IMPERSONATE HIS VOCAL, BUT NO ONE CAN TOUCH HIS GUITAR LICKS.
