for anyone that’s commenting about Shakira’s belly dancing, she has always done choreography that is more for show business, while she’s singing or even for a dance break. She has been doing it since she was 4, taught by her paternal grandmother, who is Lebanese. Once Shakira started touring and performing, she received classes in the 90s by Myriam, then in the 2000s by Bozenka for the belly dance choreography that she does up to this day.
Just because it isn’t at the level of those who solely dedicate themselves to the dance, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s not valid belly dancing. It’s not fair to compare her to others who solely dedicate themselves to the dance. She does it to her greatest extent, which is still beautiful and graceful, and is appreciated by all her fans 😌 Let’s not put any type of artist, dancer or performer down! Sending lots of love ❤️

This was such an inspiring interview that I really needed right now. I have been professionally dancing and teaching since 2009 and I absolutely love it but I am finding it so hard these days to keep it going. I want to perform and teach because it is my passion but for the last few years my studio has been pretty empty and no one wants to hire me due to saving money in hard times. I put a lot of effort into what I do but I am slowly losing my confidence as I feel like nobody wants my services. I think I need to take some personal time to just enjoy the dance and the music rather than trying to perform to a camera all the time so I can actually get noticed. I feel like I need to fall in love with this dance again and just hope that this quietness is just a blip that will come back again.

I loved your statement about the dance being a private practice. I feel it in itself should be first "for you". I have always told women that nothing will make you FEEL like a woman better than belly dance. I think that is motivation enough before you add in the other possible elements. You mentioned newbies wondering how to get into dance professionally. I feel comfortable in saying that I was the top in my classes, and when I was fortunate enough years ago to be a student, I wish I had had a concept of the option of striving to be professional. I loved when Bozenka advised essentially to immerse yourself, to listen to the music, to go to shows, to seek out advisors. I remember dancing down the grocery isle. 😊 I think we are blessed as viewers that you, as a young woman, were aware of the options and chose that route.

I'd rather hear Sadie and others organize nude dances, like bicycle promoters in nude bike rides, than hear garbage about how we simply must avoid those dangerous wardrobe malfunctions.

A finales de marzo del 2011 participé en un seminario intensivo con TAMALYN DALLAL Y BOZENKA en dónde se abordó aparte de la técnica,la evolución de la danza y el trabajo de equilibrio con sable. Fué y será un honor haber conocido a dos de las bailarinas más famosas de la agrupación de Bellydance Superstars…Tenía muy poco de haber incursionado en la danza del vientre cuando asistí al seminario… ahora no solamente imparto clases … sino mi pasión por la danza me llevó hasta improvisar en un espectáculo de danza del vientre en Turquía…aún recuerdo con mucha ilusión el día que las conocí y para mi fortuna me hospedaba en el mismo hotel en dónde para ellas era “ La chica de rojo” 😍🤩🙏💃… Orgullosamente MEXICANA 🇲🇽 . Why people here compare sadie who is a great dancer that is dedicated to the art with shakira who is international superstar singer musician artist.and dancer....there is no comparison. They do VERY DIFERENT thing. You can compare didem with sadie...But not with shakira, its like apples and oranges

Sadie is the best bellydancer in the world. 🩷🩵 İ don't like shakira, she's very basic and simple. There is not point of comparation.
I always wonder Why do people think that Shakira can bellydance?? Not even close. Too stiff and too harsh. No elegance no fluidity no nothing. Way overrated in my opinion.

I don’t think it’s fair to call Shakira “basic and simple”or put her down like that, given that she does it more for performances that incorporate a lot of singing and for show business. Remember, that what she does it for. She is not at the level of the dancers we know today who solely dedicate themselves to it. It is for her fans and for her gratitude in having Lebanese heritage. It is still beautiful and graceful, just like anyone else who does it. Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, but dance is universal. Let’s not put anyone down or compare! 💃🏻
Shakira is musician singer and also a bellydancer. You cant compare her with sadiw who is dadicated to the art of bellydance only...this comment is totally nonsense
