Hi, I'm really sorry you have to have a catheter but I'm glad the video helps. It's a whole new world of stuff you have to deal with, but it's a necessary evil. If you have any questions, feel free to ask here, or you can email me at Tony.Alcindor@Maletenance.com
Tony being able to disconnect the bag was wonderful. Being able to wash and move around in the shower "untethered" was so nice. Again you have provided some very simple recommendations in your videos and they make a big difference in living with the cath. Thanks !
Hi William, My sincerest apologies for nor responding. I try to respond to everyone who is kind enough to leave a comment and I am so happy that the video/s helped. I hope this note finds you well. How are you doing?
Thank you, just came home from ER w mother who got cathed today. No instructions on how to shower w it. You've just relaxed my stress! Sharing is so helpful to each other.
I am so glad the videos help. I don't have all the answers, but I hope I'm creating a space for info from me and others who have experienced living with a catheter. There was nothing out there and most people are just sent home with no info and it can be quite daunting, physically, mentally, and emotionally for not only the patient but the people that care for them. I wish you and your mother great health Cheers Tony
Thank you. I almost hesitated to watch this since it is geared towards men but I couldn't find much info for women. Great information and can be used for men and women. Trying to prepare myself for bladder surgery where I will need to wear a Foley catheter for 2 to 3 weeks. Thanks for the information!
So glad I found your video. My IBS caused a reaction that lead to urine retention, and I had to hit the ER to get “drained”. They sent me home with a Foley catheter and drainage bag. I’ve been limping around feeling like a shish kabob and trying to figure out how to get through the next few days in relative comfort and normalcy. Because it hurts to bend at the waist or even lift the leg that has the bag strapped on it, my bathing has been incomplete. I gotta wear this thing for five more days. I can’t just keep having shoddy hygiene. I’m relieved to hear it’s possible to shower with this thing in. I’ll look for the stoppers on Amazon. Thanks for the pointer! To anybody else out there with IBS-C, try to avoid FODMAP stacking. The same muscle that controls #2 also controls #1. Urine retention and a distended bladder hurt just as bad if not worse than a flare up. Feels like your bladder is gonna burst. And if your local hospitals are anything like mine, you could be waiting in pain for several hours before getting seen and treated. If I could have been sure to be seen faster I’d have driven somewhere else. And if I had known my bladder could do this from consuming garlicky food, almond milk, and iced tea, I’d have been more careful about my FODMAP consumption.
Hi, I'm really glad that you found the video/s and they are proving to be helpful. There are quite a few videos that will help you navigate the next week and I got my fingers crossed for you that you'll be back to continence. Also, thank you for sharing the information regarding your IBS. So many people read the comments, so your insights will be very helpful to so many. If you have any pressing questions about living with a catheter please feel free to ask here or you can also email me at Tony.Alcindor@Maletenance.com In the meantime, hang in there. Cheers, and wishing you great health. Tony
Hi Rod, Thanks for the comment. I initially did not want to put myself out there. I was really embarrassed. I thought I might get known as "The Cath guy". But I figured, if people find the video's then they are looking for answers. If I'm able to help the millions of people that will have to use a catheter by sharing my story and what I learned, then thats more important and worrying about what strangers think of me. So far it's been one of the best things that came out of the whole ordeal. Wishing you great health.
Thank you so very much for your videos! This video inspired me to seek out a way to shower untethered to a bag. I found a catheter valve that I can close for showering and switching bags. The tubing tripped me up in the shower a couple of times and I was hoping you had made a video addressing this issue. So many of your videos have helped me, and I'm very grateful to you.
You are so so welcome.....I am humbled to be able to help you. It is a trying time and any peer support I am able to provide to make life a little easier makes me happy. As for the long tubing, I didn't have that during the day, only at night which was used with the larger night bag. Maybe you can switch to the catheter and bag which sits high up on the thigh as it has a shorter tube and there is less of a chance of you tripping in the shower? Or possibly use the leg strap alone to secure tube while showering? Just thinking off the top of my head. Let me know what solutions you end up doing. Cheers, and wishing you great health. Tony
I use a flip flow valve between the catheter and bag. That way I can close the valve and disconnect the bag for showering. It's alot of trial and error to find what works, and I've made plenty of errors.
Thank you for all your videos, I had my prostate removed in late July. I had the catheter for 7 days and you made life a little better with all your tips. God bless
Awww man thank you! Just knowing I helped in a lil way make this journey a lil easier makes me smile. I also had a prostatectomy. It was a serious come-to-Jesus moment and I had to do a lot of mental gymnastics to get through it. I did mourn for a lil while the loss of my old life but I'm happy to have a life at all. Can I ask you what was your diagnosis and your age if you don't mind? You can always email me your response if you prefer. It's going to help me with my stats and R & D with regards to becoming an advocate for men's health, particularly an earlier prostate screening than 50. Cheers T
@@maletenance I'm 56 years old, PSA 8.3 and a Gleason score of (4+4). Malignant mass 8mm contained. The Dr. recommended a prostatectomy due to my age and aggressiveness of the type of cancer I have. After my prostatectomy the first blood test PSA level was .08, I'm hoping my second PSA blood test will be lower in November. Your description of your experience is what I felt as well. Additionally losing 20 lbs while already having an athletic physique didn't look good at all on me. The very worst was the Bicalutamide hormone pills! I can only describe it as making me feel and act like a menopausal woman! Crying frequently and not being able to make simple decisions was something very foreign to me. Good luck with the R&D, I agree that men should start being tested much earlier no later than 45 and as soon as 40. Though life seems to rain big rocks at times I'm trying to embrace the moments between them. Stay well my brother, have a good long life!
@NicholasCone-d9d Hi Nicholas, You are so welcome. If you have any questions I did not cover in the video's feel free to ask here or you're welcome to email me at Tony.Alcindor@Maletenance.com Cheers, and wishing you great health. Happy New Year. Tony
Thank you so much for your really helpful, reassuring and light-hearted approach. It's been a wonderful help to my husband and myself as we deal with his first day on an indwelling catheter after a prostate REZUM procedure. My Lord Jesus Christ bless you and yours 😊
I am so thrilled that the videos have helped! I aimed to provide some much-needed information to help people navigate living with an indwelling catheter. I certainly don't know everything but something is better than nothing. There was no information, tips, or tricks from a user's point of view; I just had to do something, and I am so glad that I did. It makes me very proud and humbled to help. Thank you for your kind words. Cheers, and wishing you both and your loved ones great health. Tony
Hi, @Spacecowboy1969 you are so welcome. I'm really glad you found the videos and that they have helped you. Thank you for subscribing. I have been so overdue to post new vids especially to do with aging. I turn 60 in a few days (people have been asking me what I do to maintain a youthful appearance forever) and I want to share all the things that I do that make me excited about this next chapter, so that others will be able to enjoy this stage of life also. Cheers, and wishing you and your loved ones great health. Tony ps. May I ask what your diagnosis was that led to catheter use and how old you are? It'll help with my research. You're welcome to email me privately if you prefer at tony.alcindor@maletenance.com
Thanks for comments. Any issue with unplugging the flexible cathether tube from hard plastic tube joint and then reattached. Can one uplug/replug the connection a few times for taking a shower without causing leaks.
H Doug, I never really had a problem with attaching and reattaching the catheter to the bag unless I didn't do it properly. I did it not only for showering but also to attach the larger night bag. You really have to take the time to make sure it's really tight and pushed together securely. Now the times it did leak was because I was careless and exhausted or in a mental fog.....it's a lot dealing with it all and the diagnosis that got you here so it's bound to happen. Ask your doctor or nurse to show you how to do it correctly. When it happened to me, which was a few times it was embarrassing but solved that....see below Cheers mate and wishing you great health. Tony ua-cam.com/video/Q_1xoZKehNQ/v-deo.html
@maletenance1872 Thanks for your reply. I have been careful, and all worked out OK. The only leak was when I didn't close the drain plug properly. Not much mess before noticing a problem.
@@DougCaldwell I'm glad the hanger trick helped. I mean who has a hospital bed at home. Just one more of the things they don't help with you with when you get a catheter. Wishing you well on the BIG day..I remember my BIG day....I think I cried.

Thank you so much for the comments and I'm really happy that you find the videos helpful. I do hope the channel continues to grow because that would mean it's helping so many people, which was always my intention. I wish you great health. Cheers Tony
Thanks for this video. I was having urination issues due to enlarged prostate. One day, all of a sudden, could not pee at all. Went to emergency room after many hours of praying and trying to pee. They put in foley catheter which drained the urine. Had other tests, all ok. They gave me a Medline Leg bag and said call my urologist. I called and since the emergency room doctor put me on Flomax the urologist wants to let that get in my system for a while so my appt is not for 10 days. I dont mind waiting but I'm going to have to find a place to buy a night bag. I slept two nights with leg bag and its not good, which I found out after researching. Also, the nurse only allowed a very short tube from catheter to my privates. When i sit or, well, to be polite, go number 2, it pulls so tight I'm afraid its going to pull out. Hoping this is all temporary but it is what it is. I'm certain others are in worse shape than me. Good luck to all out there! Thanks again for the video. I'm going to detach the leg bag for shower or maybe as another commenter wrote, just take the cloth straps out and keep the leg bag on in shower. Anyone find that you are always checking for urine smells? As careful as I am I feel like sometimes I feel drips on my leg and foot. 😔
It's amazing that your story sounds so familiar to mine and hundreds of people. From the denial, the ER, the lack of information, hope and prayers, leaking, pulling and pain, checking for urine smells, cloudy urine in the bag, UTI's (well you haven't mentioned that but it might happen)....literally all of it. Most if not all of us have been there. You will get through it! You are part of a club that you never wanted to be in but you have support and you're not alone. I'm around. Hang in there. Tony
Thankyou for taking the time to do your videos. Do you know if i can keep catheter in, because every 2nd morning i have to lay on the bathroom floor and do water irrigation for my bowel to empty. So i am laying in water and poop for 1 to 2 hours and thinking this may cause infection. I went to ER twice, explained what i have to do. They say dont come back until you cant wee at all. I have mild urethra prolaose, am female and dont know what to do. If i dont get a catheter soon my prolapse will worsen.
Hi Vicki, I'm glad you have found some information in the videos and I am sorry you are dealing with so much. Unfortunately, your question is out of my realm of knowledge. These are issues for medical professionals - a gynecologist, a urologist, and a gastroenterologist. If you have those they may need to work together to get you to a better place. I wish you all the best. Tony
It is really uncomfortable when walking and standing on catheter is that normal and will it’s take time to get used to it thnxs like the feeling you really wanted to pee when standing or walking feel so awkward when I’m walking
Firstly I'm sorry you had to experience having to use a urinary catheter. I have to say I never got used to the thing. I tolerated it because I had no choice and there were no other options. I found it miserable. It's amazing to me that with so many millions of people having to use a catheter for various reasons that there have not been any improvements made to make it more pain-free for the user. I find it actually a lil archaic. That said I did invent a new catheter that allows the user a more pain-free......not painless.....range of motion so that they can continue with activities of daily living as normal as possible with a straw stuck in them. I knew there had to be a better way and through trial and several redesigns, I am in the final patent approval stages. I can't tell you what it is but trust me it will change the lives of those that have to use a catheter which along with this channel was always my goal....to help others. Hopefully, with any luck, it won't be me or you that has to use it. I wish you great health. Tony
I take the blue cap the bag comes with, wipe it with some alcohol and plug the cath with the tip . Then after I shower I wipe the bag and put the cath back on. Works for me..
Awww man! Makes me smile to know you appreciate the video. It's a whole other world having to use a catheter. No one prepares you for living with the archaic device. I had to do something and I'm glad I did. If I get known for being the catheter guy, I'm ok with that so long as I'm helping. What was the diagnosis that got you here and having to use a catheter?
what caused u to need the cath in the same place. I have one now don't know what my outcome will be but if your at work how are you supposed to pee out of your ankle
My diagnosis was severe BPH, complete blockage of the urethra. What is your diagnosis? Why are you peeing out of your ankle? My leg urine bag was placed on my thigh.
@@maletenance that is where they mounted it down by ankle level. Did you ever get that thing out? I sure don't want to live with this forever. Thank you so much for replying to me.
I try my best to respond to everyone. I also speak to so many people on the phone as peer support. I don't have all the answers and am not a medical doctor but I know what it's like to live with a catheter for months before surgery. If you have pressing questions you can always visit Maletenance.com to see the support services I offer. To answer your question - Yes I did finally get it out after my prostatectomy and am urinating like a young man. As for why they would put the urine bag near your ankle......I don't know enough about your medical issues, mobility, diagnosis, etc to understand the reason for the placement. If you'd care to elaborate I might have some insight. Also the same goes for how long you may have to use a catheter.....I don't know what your diagnosis is and am hesitant to speculate. I do hope it's not for long. Hang in there.
No. I did but that's just me. The only thing I can say is to be diligent about hygiene. Be extra extra clean because you are susceptible to getting an infection due to the entry points. Wishing you great health. Cheers Tony
i recently have got a foley catheter due to me developing cauda-equina syndrome. showering has become kind of annoying but i didn't even think of just disconnecting the tube from the bag lol. that's so simple but makes so much sense. thank you so much for this video! :) i was wondering why you had a catheter and how long you had to have the catheter in for? thanks again!
Hi, I'm so glad the video helped you out. It is the simplest thing that can make such a huge difference. They don't tell you anything in the hospital or doctor's office. I had my catheter because I was diagnosed with BPH....basically, my prostate had grown so large it blocked the pee hole. I had symptoms but ignored them like many guys do, and I paid the price. Oh well, it's in the past now. I had it in for a little over three months pre-surgery. I learned a lot because they put it in the ER and sent me home. I had to figure everything out on my own because there was no one talking about how to live with the damn thing. Then, I decided to share my knowledge in the videos to help others. I don't have all the answers, but the channel has helped thousands and thousands for that, I'm proud and humbled. I looked up your diagnosis, and I'm sorry you have to deal with it. How are you doing?
@@maletenance wow! that is honestly kind of irresponsible of the ER staff to just send you home with no knowledge. i'm really grateful for your videos though!!! so it's nice how something not great can lead to something really amazing. i'm doing alright right now... i recovered faster than a lot of other patients with CES mobility-wise, probably because i'm only 19 and CES is seemingly more common in older individuals. so i'm walking around with basically no pain and only occassionally have to take a bit of tylenol when it annoys me. i still have to deal with dressing on my surgery wound, and i have two mobility restrictions (can't bend over more than 90 degrees and i can't lift more than 10lbs), but it's not a big deal. my biggest hurdle right now is the catheter and my urination retention. i still haven't gotten sensation back down there, despite really trying to stimulate it back via walking everyday, which was recommended by my surgeon and nurses. i have a urology appointment in a week though so hopefully i'll get more insight. thanks again for your videos :)
Yes, it is very irresponsible of the ER staff. Unfortunately, it is more common than not, as I've heard so many say the same thing. I'm working to change that. So yes, something really good has come out of something not-so-good. I also recently was awarded a patent for a new and improved catheter that is user-friendly. It was actually quite simple, but only a person who had to deal with a catheter could have figured it out. It will help millions when it comes to market. Regarding your CES, it's good to hear you are doing better with your mobility. Your age as you mention is working in your favor. You also seem to have a very positive approach, and that is a great strength for someone so young. You seem wise beyond your years. I hope you get the insights you're seeking and it's all positive in getting you back to continence. Keep me posted.....I'm rooting for you. Cheers, Tony
I've seen all your videos, some 2x, what a help you've been. Question....I've had my Foley in for 2 weeks now and have a MRI this Thursday, how long did you have your original catheter in? I have read there are cases these things can be left in for 30-45 days before needing replaced? Yikes, seems like a long time? Also, did you ever experience blood in the bag after walking or normal activity, doc never said anything about that! Again thank you Dave
Hi Dave, I am so glad the videos helped. I wonder if you've seen them all (there are like 50+ videos now I think) as I did a video on blood in the urine and the various colors your urine could turn. It was a mind F$%#! I'll link it below for you. Regarding how long leaving a catheter in. My first one was in three days. Then I had one in once for 28-29 days. I've even heard some people have had it even longer. I think if I recall that the chances of getting a UTI increases the longer you have it in. May I ask what your diagnosis was that got you having to use a catheter and your age? I'm putting together stats to become more of an advocate for men to take a comprehensive approach to their urinary and reproductive health. If you prefer to message me privately you can email me at tony.alcindor@maletenance.com. Cheers Tony ps. If you ever wanna talk or have questions I'm happy to get on the phone. Hi Ken you're very welcome. Please feel free to ask me anything if it will help. What was your diagnosis that led to catheter use and how old are you if you don't mind me asking. Just trying to gather information to continue advocating for mens health. Cheers, Tony
@@maletenance Hi, I'm a 77yr man and cause was distended bladder from enlarged prostate. Tamsulosin ÷ finasteride were supposed to take care of problem in 12 days after the foley was placed. Could not void so we continued another four months. After this still no void so went 3 more months - and no void. This is when I was told to get PSA and my first prostate finger check where he felt a hard spot on left side. I placed the MRI reservation myself for 7/10. Why the PSA and exam were not given with the first signs after a catscan clearly showed problem does not seem proper procedure - too late now. Have raised this question with my Renal Dr.,Primary Dr.,Eurology Dr who can't answer why. Must trust the universe on this one. I have reviewed information by research on procedures like Holep laser becoming advocate for my body. This is how I found you, the only one who is Real. Thanks again, Ken
Hi Bill, Sorry for the delayed response. I don't know how I missed your question. Not sure exactly what context you're speaking about but there was always a concern about infections as having a urinary catheter for a long period of time, in my case at least, guaranteed getting an infection. I hope the message finds you well and healthy. Cheers Tony
@@maletenance awe thanks for checking on me. Catheter came out yesterday and doing well. Missing not having to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom though. I had prostate cancer. I had a procedure called Robot-assisted Radical Laparoscopic Prostatectomy. Cancer be gone! Thanks again for the video. I followed your recommendations and worked perfectly.
@@ahotdj07 Robert glad to hear your surgery was a success! Cancer be ^%$% gone is right and don't come back ever!!! Really glad the videos helped in a small way. May I ask how you found out about it and how old you are? I'm trying to become an advocate for early screening to help prevent possible surgery and worse. I know I got in a pickle because I neglected my rising PSA. If you don't feel comfortable sharing no worries I completely understand. Just happy it's all behind you and you can start enjoying life again Cheers.
@@maletenance Definitely early screening is key. I get my physical annually and noticed my PSA levels continued to rise each year. Last year I brought this to my PCP's attention and he referred me to an urologist. Urologist said it could be one of two things - either enlarged prostate or cancer. He checked my prostate with his finger and said it felt fine. His next recommendation was to take 12 biopsies of the prostate and send out to a pathologist. Pathology report came back and 4 out 12 were positive for cancer. All had tumors ~ 4 to 6 mm in size. Gleason score was six for those biopsies. Also my dad and grandfather both passed away at a young age from prostate cancer. Which is even more of a reason I stay on top of it. I am only 52 years old. My recommendation for anyone reading this is to have it checked annually and keep on top of it. A quick simple blood test can tell a lot. This is one of the top leading causes of men dying. The earlier it is detected, the better your treatment options.
@@ahotdj07 Hi Robert, Thank you so much for sharing your journey and I'm very sorry that you lost your dad and grandad. However, the more we speak up and continue to share our journey and work to demystify and destigmatize the prostate we can change minds and save lives. Sharing your story will certainly help as I pursue advocating for early and earlier screenings in order to prevent a terrible outcome, which in many cases can be prevented. I'd like to get men's first PSA screening down to age 40 as one of my nurses is seeing more and more men under 50 with prostate issues. It's not an old man issue anymore. I too had the 12 biopsies done. Holy hell that was painful!! It was done in the urologist's office, while fully awake. I cried like a baby. I don't know if that's normal or not but I wished they had knocked me the #$^%! out!!! Again thank you and wishing you continued great health. Cheers T
My problem is that I've showered only 2 times and now my sticky pad is coming off. The hospital didn't send any extra home with me. As a matter of fact, I was sent home with no instructions whatsoever. The nurse told me that I must have some sort of mental problem because it was nothing to be stressing over. Can I use regular tape instead of the sticky pad.
Hi Becky, those damn nurses who talk about having a catheter like its a #@$%in walk in the park! It pissed me off because they have no idea what it's like and to be so callous and flippant pisses me off. A drop of compassion would go far and what would go even further is some information on how to live with the damn thing. That is the general consensus I have seen over the years of doing the videos and hearing from hundreds of thousands of people.....no information was provided! It's the definition of insult to injury. Thats why I had to make the videos and I am so happy and humbled that they have helped. I don't have all the answers but what I do share about my journey is a good start for so many. As for your question - don't use regular tape. You'll get a rash or worse it'll tear your skin. How about medial tape in the interim? Or maybe even a bandaid until you get more sticky pads. Hi, I never took a bath while I had a catheter. From what I understand, baths are not advised due to the increased chance of an infection from sitting in bathwater. This I wold probably refer to your doc. What was you diagnosis that led to catheter use and how old are you if you don't mind me asking. It helps with my continued advocacy. You can email if you prefer a less public forum tony.alcindor@maletenance.com Cheers
I do not bother taking leg bag off. I remove the leg straps from the bag, then shower as normal - any pee still collects in the bag. Then when drying myself I also pat the outside of the leg bag dry with towel , put the straps back and reattach the bag to my leg. I remove the straps because I found that these stay wet after the shower if I do not remove them first.
@@David-lo1fo That is definitely one way to do it. I was a bit concerned about water or soap getting into the pipe so I prefer to leave the bag connected to keep the system sealed and avoid that risk. My bag does not drag on the floor it is still attached to my upper leg by the sticky pad. The bottom of the outlet hangs about 6 to 9 inches above the floor. It does not matter that the plastic bag gets wet, it is easily dried with a towel, but the straps are a fabric which takes some time to dry. So removing the straps for a shower makes it easier to dry after.
@wayneharris689 Not sure soap and water are going to travel much up a hanging tube out your dick. Gravity doesn't work that way with water. Water Itself won't hurt you and a little soap Or shampoo won't kill you. I almost Removed my Foley today in the shower. Going on 5 weeks now. Pretty easy to Do even without a catheter syringe. Just Cut the syringe port in the shower drain the Saline and pull it out !
My dad just had a leg bag placed. I’m thinking to have him do the same exact thing actually. Switching from leg bag to night bag and vice verse seems like a lot for us right now.
Appears to be very ignorant. There is not the slightest problem of bacteria coming OUT. The danger is bacteria going IN (from which you could even end up dead). That's why it is important not to leave that end of the tube open for more than a second or two.
Having a catheter for the first time, how to shower was my first question after I got home from the doctor. This video is very helpful.

Thanks Tony for putting a real face on what affects many of us.
@@maletenance Thanks for getting back with me Tony. You are doing a great job of talking about catheters to those who are new to this.
Thanks
Thank you for the advice!!!!! It truly helped me to learn this advice and a Happy New Year to you

When it happened to me, which was a few times it was embarrassing but solved that....see below

Great tip. Wishing you great health
GOOD information. Was all knew to me, it was info needed here. Thanks.
That was funny. My kind of instructions! Thank you and now I’m going to take a shower.

Wishing you great health.
Do you have to take the catheter bag off??
No. I did but that's just me. The only thing I can say is to be diligent about hygiene. Be extra extra clean because you are susceptible to getting an infection due to the entry points.

i recently have got a foley catheter due to me developing cauda-equina syndrome. showering has become kind of annoying but i didn't even think of just disconnecting the tube from the bag lol. that's so simple but makes so much sense. thank you so much for this video!
Again thank you
Dave
Hi Dave, I am so glad the videos helped. I wonder if you've seen them all (there are like 50+ videos now I think) as I did a video on blood in the urine and the various colors your urine could turn. It was a mind F$%#! I'll link it below for you.
Regarding how long leaving a catheter in. My first one was in three days. Then I had one in once for 28-29 days. I've even heard some people have had it even longer. I think if I recall that the chances of getting a UTI increases the longer you have it in.
May I ask what your diagnosis was that got you having to use a catheter and your age? Hi Bill, Sorry for the delayed response. I don't know how I missed your question. Not sure exactly what context you're speaking about but there was always a concern about infections as having a urinary catheter for a long period of time, in my case at least, guaranteed getting an infection.

How're you doing and feeling?
@@maletenance awe thanks for checking on me. Catheter came out yesterday and doing well. Missing not having to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom though. I had prostate cancer. If you don't feel comfortable sharing no worries I completely understand.
Just happy it's all behind you and you can start enjoying life again
Cheers.
@@ahotdj07 Hi Robert,
Thank you so much for sharing your journey and I'm very sorry that you lost your dad and grandad.

Hang in there. Tony

After my second shower I just disconnected the tube and bag.
Letting bag drag on floor is not
Recommend. It can be stepped on
And damaged.
Water
Itself won't hurt you and a little soap
Or shampoo won't kill you. I almost
Removed my Foley today in the shower.
Going on 5 weeks now. Pretty easy to
Do even without a catheter syringe. Just
Cut the syringe port in the shower drain the

Appears to be very ignorant. There is not the slightest problem of bacteria coming OUT. The danger is bacteria going IN (from which you could even end up dead). That's why it is important not to leave that end of the tube open for more than a second or two.
