  • Inle Lake is a must see sight for any trip to Myanmar, made famous by it’s incredible floating villages and leg rowing fisherman... But there are so many more incredible things to do: including hidden gems like a vineyard, hot springs and a tofu village! In this travel guide, we will cover it all.
Whether you explore by boat tour or bike tour, these are the things you have to see!
0:41 - Taking a LONGBOAT TOUR at SUNRISE
We booked a tour through our hotel (every hotel around the lake will do this for you, no need to book in advance). Sunrise is really worth it to avoid the crowds and see the lake in it’s best light.
2:10 - Floating Villages on Inle Lake
Inle is home to the Intha people who live and work in stilted bamboo houses on the water,
    2:55 - Silversmith
Our first stop on the lake.
3:15 - Inle Lake Rotating Market
A market that moves around the lake every day. A good spot for souvenirs.
3:35 - Traditional Lotus Weaving Workshop.
A really interesting stop on our boat tour, there are a lot of products for sale too.
    4:00 - Cigar Makers
Another good stop, well worth a try too - no tobacco, only natural ingredients!
4:12 - Shwe Indein and Indein Village
My favourite stop on the boat trip. The temples are ruined making it a great place to explore.
    5:45 - Renting a bike in Nyaungshwe
The main tourist town of Inle is the best place to stay and rent a bike from. There are loads of different routes to take too.
6:13 - Khuang Daing Nature Hot Spring
A small spa with natural thermal springs. A great place to relax!
6:57 - Great Viewpoint over the Lake
Right opposite the hot springs is a really good viewpoint and small temple.
7:23 - Khuang Daing aka Tofu Village
Take a tour with Yam around the many different food spots in the village, most involve tofu - but not like any you’ve had before!
8:20 - Red Mountain Estate Vineyard
Inle Lake’s winery and vineyard is not only a great place to taste some local wine, but it also has some of the best views of the countryside. Perfect for sunset.

MESSAGE FROM 2021: During my time in Myanmar, I saw plenty of amazing sights, but there was one constant: the people. Always smiling, always kind and always welcoming. I’ve never known hospitality like it in all of my travels… But these kind people are currently being denied basic rights by an evil military junta who refuse to recognise democracy. Protesters are being detained and everyone is under a full internet blackout. I stand with the people of Myanmar against this oppression 🇲🇲

We had so much fun in Inle! You're going to want to stay tuned for the next episode, when we head to the most famous sight in all of Myanmar... Any guesses? 🇲🇲
If you missed the first two episodes from Myanmar you can start right here. It gives you a bit more background on why we chose to visit 🎥 : ua-cam.com/video/8vfYRYFWYpQ/v-deo.html

If you haven't left Inle lake, I recommend going to a small village north of the lake called Samka. Although it is pretty much unknown, it has an interesting history and beautiful Pagoda complex.

The temples and pagodas look really interesting. Some of the fallen down bits look like they should be in a museum, but I suppose all over Myanmar is like a huge open air museum. Shame about the fishermen, but I guess supply and demand.... 💁 Oh man, I'd nearly forgotten about Shan tofu! One year on... I'm rather missing food in Myanmar actually 😋 I chose to head up northwest to Hsipaw and Lashio so had to miss out on Inle, so good to see what I missed out on.

The leg-rowing fisherman were pretty nifty. Very strange! These guys have too much time on their hands. 😊 The lake is beautiful though at that hour. Neat to see those handmade cigars. The little temples were so neat! What a place to discover.

although I am from Myanmar I have never been to the inlay lake before. The one u eat like a donut snuck is call husband and wife snuck. by direction translation. LOL! U should enjoy the Thingyan festival too. come back after the disaster is over. warmly welcome from Myanmar.

I think by donut-like snack, he meant the "bracelet snack" by direct translation. He referred to the "husband and wife snack" as the crispy ones

Your video made me want to visit Myanmar now. Like how early is really early when starting the tour? That fishermen who were posing was funny. It is like you are watching a circus. Entertainment in the water. I can feel the peace on the lake as well. Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Myanmar has a lot of similarities when it comes to temples. And I like that you can do the tour both by boat and bike. And that hot spa looks really relaxing.

    • @OneShotAdventures
      @OneShotAdventures  5 років тому +1

There are definitely similarities in the temples, but for me - Myanmar is probably the most impressive :)

Y'all are almost always getting up way early, hahaha...are you morning people like me or do you just power through like April? How much did you have to tip the posing fishermen? Beautiful sunrise. Do you know why the Intha people decided to live on the water? You said the magic words...Indiana Jones vibes...now I HAVE to go there! Hot springs, very nice...how much did entrance and the drinks cost? April has never done a wine tasting either. You definitely look qualified there, LOL! 😆

    • @OneShotAdventures
      @OneShotAdventures  5 років тому

Haha to be honest, we're not early morning people AT ALL! But we make ourselves do it for the experience. I cant remember how much we tipped the fishermen, but the hot springs were about $7 for the "deluxe" experience

Those fishermen were funny! Lol cool pictures, but yeah, I can imagine that would be quite awkward. Its cool to see how the people there have rigged up their homes so that they can live on the lake. I like seeing how other cultures live.
