Bro there is a plot about a character named Rob and he’s Gumball’s nemesis (you will see the word nemesis a lot when you watch the episodes with Rob in it)also he has a great backstory and the way he looks in the show comes from his backstory.If you watch the show like most of us in our childhood you would understand how good it was, and the transitions to different plots and stories are great.

Oh yeah! Darwin is a fish that was adopted. He became their (Gumball and Anais') sibling because he grew legs and could speak (two whole episodes showcase how Darwin became their sibling). Richard and Nicole are their parents! i don't understand the logic, but i remember that these are aimed at a childish audience

Gumball has to be one of the most iconic and Unique cartoons in his story. they mix elements of 2d, 3d and still shots of Live Photos, The comedy is goes from goofy, awkward, smart, to topical. And the writing is very well executed as well a developing some of the characters and personal arcs.
Also The reason that Darwin calls Richard Mr. Dad is because He was adopted when gumball was 6 or 7. And rather than just calling him dad he just calls him Mr.Dad

the explanation for darwin calling richard mr.dad is actually explained in a episode (actually its 2 parts so its 2 episodes)i think its called the origins
Yknow TAWOG is one of my favourite cartoons it’s great.
I’d love if you ever did watch the show again.
Maybe watching like 5 episodes from each season could be a good way to get a better feel for what’s going on and it’s quality. (if you don’t feel like watching the entire show that is which would be understandable)
I’d recommend watching the more story based/ lore developing ones to understand any important details that you aren’t aware of, or just some of the more popular episodes. (Personally Seasons 3 and 4 are some of the highest quality in the show.)
Anyway enough rambling I’m glad you was able to enjoy even some of the more mediocre episodes of the series!
I’d like to revisit TAWOG eventually! I just don’t have the time to watch the entire series since life is busy.
I do appreciate the info though. I’ll definitely take a look at some of the better episodes eventually :)

I love this show it goes to cute to weird to emotional to cursed in a funny way to downright hilarious and absurd even the gross out which i hate is thankfully not super duper prominent

darwin is kinda like a brother to gumball now. like other comments have said, he was bought as a pet fish, then got accidentally flushed down the toilet and had to make his way back to the house. and he also grew legs. theres at least an entire episode dedicated to explain darwin's story.

The term "stepbrothers" would imply that Darwin is the son of either Richard or Nicole, while Gumball is the son of the other, so they are not related by blood.
But Darwin (last I checked) is not related to either parent. So, adoption.

My fav is "the question". I think it's how that called. Basically they ask univers about life and then comes song with kinda weird actions going on. At the end planets sing and I remember it was really depressing

For instance, I feel bummed out that I can’t be able to be Gumball Watterson finding myself a Penny Fitzgerald. It’s difficult finding a 18-21+ of age Gumball Watterson-Free Penny Fitzgerald. And I am just an 20-year-old neurodivergent Gumball Watterson virgin with rage and trolls and harassers calling me incel, virgin, and worse stuff. About Darwin Watterson III… He seems to be a orange gold fish sidekick who helps Gumball Watterson out. And I wish I can find myself a Darwin Watterson who could be there for me again and help me find a Gumball Watterson-free Penny Fitzgerald. Because I am a 20-year-old neurodivergent Gumball Watterson virgin with rage. When gumball was younger he was a wild child so his parents got him a fish but he kept on accidently killing them until the dad when inside a mysterious van and got a fish there this fish was different from other he could understand what gumball was saying and do tricks and even talk but when he got fluch away because he was playing dead and the dad thought he killed another fill. But when trying to get back home to them the connection that gamball and Darwin have give Darwin the ability to breath air and thwn give him leg's. So at the end he gets back home and they adopted him.
