Thanks Stephane! Having the surface markings of the soleus and knowing about dorsi-flexion really helps. Apparently, my knowledge of soleus anatomy had atrophied more than the muscle itself....😀
I was just thinking, I hadn't seen anything from you in a while. Hope that wasn't a permanent marker, lol. Fantastic video as usual and looking forward to more Steph.
I am massaging my calves as I’m watching this video! Great information as usual bro. Amazing tips brother. I needed this. I’m due to see my massage therapist. I still can’t believe I survived 2022 with no injuries, thanks to your channel! 🙌🏼
Great stuff. Is there a muscle or ligament on top of foot at the bend of the foot and shin. That area got swollen for me in last Ultra. I am not sure if I injured it or my shoes were too tight. It was first time I tied the last eyelet of my shoes. I was out there 31 hours so it may be overuse but left leg had nothing. It was only my right side. That area was sore for two weeks. It seems healed. I can't feel anything with shoes but without it is little sore in mornings still after 2 wks.
Hey Richard! There is a fascia and underneath, quite a few tendons! And some nerves and blood vessels. It could indeed be an overuse injury. Perhaps look up extensor tendonitis. Try some ice on the painful area, and when pain reduces, some exercises for the toes and ankles (extension movements). This can easily happen on just one foot, could be a shoe not well tied up for example and the toes are trying to constantly adjust (just an example). If pain persists, of course check with your physio.

Hahaha! Glad something helped. Thanks for the comment and happy new year!
This was exactly the info I needed today! Thank you! 🤓
Oh, so glad this was helpful!

Just some regular pen, stayed on for a week despite serious scrubbing!!!! Yeah, I miss UA-cam and the time I used to have to be on it 😂
Good to check in again, and great advice! Hope your keeping well!
Jess, thanks for checking in! It's been a rollercoaster of a year, but let's put it all behind! Have a great year 2023...

Haha, thanks for your support Marvin. You survived because of your dedication to training! Have an amazing year 2023!!!
I never really knew the reason why a bent or straight leg determines whether the gastroc or soleus gets involved. Makes sense now 👍🏻🏃♂️
Glad this makes sense ☺️. Thanks for checking in!
I always have one calf muscle that feels strained more then the other. I must have imbalances. Awesome info!
Thanks for checking in Gill! I do have a video about testing for imbalances. Perhaps worth testing it!
@@SafeMotions I will check that out for sure! I finished running an ultra a month or so ago and I've had it ever since.
