Kid took the assignment and gave it 1000%.
Kids like direction.
Kids are learning, vulnerable, and don’t have much to go off of but a task gives them something they focus on that they feel like they have control over.
Obviously the parents never wanted their son to put himself in danger even to save his sister’s life, the cost of losing two children is something they never would of asked of him.
However in this moment “protect my sister” is the only direction this poor boy has to feel safe in the situation. In his mind if he follows the task the problem will be solved.

Reminds me of a foster kid i used to work with. The family that adopted him where expecting a baby. They asked him if he would like to join the family as the baby's big brother. He said yes and took the job 100% seriously. All his behavioral problems disappeared practically overnight as he had to "set a good example as a big brother." Last i spoke to them a year later he is still in love with his baby brother. ❤

This is a show called 9-1-1 season 5 episode 8. Someone spills chemicals on the floor, and as the janitor is cleaning a nurse is setting up tanks on a shelf- one falls and sets the chemicals off causing a multi-story explosion and fire. Killing the nurse that took his baby sister. When he finds her he goes through this, they look for him and think the room was destroyed and they’re too late, only to realize they were in the wrong room. They find them and both kids were returned, safely, to their parents at the end. (From what I understand of the recap on google).

Only thing to add is the reason they went to the wrong room is because the kid was reading numbers that were actually flipped backwards. They realized the mistake and saved them

Most people sweat a lot or have nose moisture that causes the smoke to cling there the most. Smoke will cling to victims eyes/tears, nose, mouth, sweaty parts, etc. It's why she tells him to pour water on the towel to stop the smoke particles better. To cling to the water

I’ve watched this episode 3 times because I like rewatching things, here’s the recap.
Parker is the one that accidentally spilled the chemicals that lead to the fire, he bumped into the janitors trolley, someone drops their keys, those keys are then scraped against the floor causing sparks, the sparks react with the tanks and the closet goes up in flames.
Parents are evacuated safely, Parker and Sofia (kids) are trapped in a room but when Parker calls 911 and the dispatcher tells the firefighters they can’t find him bc it’s the wrong room number, firefighter Diaz realises Parker was reading the door number on a mirror so it’s actually 81E instead of 318. When they get to the room Parker is unconscious due to smoke inhalation but Sofia is still awake and crying, they get masks on the kids and safely return them to their parents.

My son is the same with his little brother. He’s always looking out making sure he’s alright. The whole first week the baby was home he would wake up in the middle of the night and say “Where’s my brother” when I would assure him he is in his crib asleep he would pass out again.
His brother was in the NICU and I had to come home without him he was upset and told me that even though the next day was his birthday he wanted me to spend it at the hospital with his brother. I told the doctor and he thought the baby was fine enough to go home so we came home on my son’s birthday. He said that was what he wished for when his granny gave him his birthday cake after that he was crying and hugging his brother and jumping up and down. I hope their relationship stays this way always. Minor fights here and there but over all loving and caring.

Alright for some context this is (9-1-1 dispatch on hulu) and theres been a explosion in the hospital and the boy called 911 for help and the dispatcher had said the name 318 the door number but the boy was accidentaly looking at a reflection and the number was actuallu 813. So when the fire fighters go into room 318 its ingulfed in flames and they think that the baby and boy both died. The boy calls back 911 and a different disbatcher picked up and solved the mystery getting fire fighters there just in the nick of time and there able to save them both. I would recomend watching the show its so good! anyway sending love to anyone who needs it and yeah good day.

This is the thing about brothers they love us. They just never say it to our faces. 😌
It’s a nice sentiment to tell children to look out for each other…Very hard to watch though as a child who was forced to take care of their infant sister on their own at age seven. Every time I watch a young child taking care of a baby it reminds me of the pain I went through doing my best and not understanding as a child that it wasn’t my fault that I wasn’t good enough for the job.

I noticed that a lot of kids are doing great with younger ones. The daycare I intern at right now, has a very sweet pair of boys that only started to interact with each other like a month ago and they adore each other (platonically, if any sick fvck has weird thoughts). The older one is so very caring and the younger one is following him like a tiny little duckling.
The older one once asked me quietly but a bit distressed, if the extra digits on the younger one hurt, so I had a little talk with him about it and reassured him, that he only needs special shoes right now, but is otherwise fine. He just got them from his dad, like the older one got his hair color from his parents.
(Yes, I mentioned things like genes and mutation, I just really simplified it for him).
Some kids are a bit too eager and can't quite be the "responsible" one yet, but from what I see most of them are on a great path
