    It is so satisfying to watch those colors burst after the water is spritzed on the powders! The cards are fabulous! I own color burst powders. I never have luck with them but i"ll try again. It's funny to me that your fingers were not very messy. When I use the color bursts even for a minute, my fingers are stained top and bottom for at least two days. You would think I'd use the disposable gloves that I own.

      Oh, my fingers were definitely all sorts of different colors. I had to cut the part out of my video showing my before and after fingers, after using the Ranger Scrubbie. That thing is amazing at cleaning ink off of fingers! I can't work with gloves on, and I don't mind getting inky. I also forgot to mention in my video (I think I added something in my blog) that I seal my shimmer powder backgrounds after they're done and before I start assembling any sort of card with them. I'm okay getting inky during the process, but not after! As for not having any luck with them, just pick a background stamp from your stash that has lots of detail, heat emboss it, sprinkle the powders with a splash of water, and let it do its thing. The first card in the video is a perfect example of not really having to do much at all to get a great background. The second one was a hot mess - haha

    This is a great video! Thank you so much! I wanted to share a tip that I use all the time. I use a lot of pigment powders for my backgrounds. Like you, I do that in a plastic container. I always have a piece or two of watercolor paper ready and I use it to dip it into the colors that are left in the tub after my project before I clean up the container. Then I just set the paper to the side to dry and often will dip it repeatedly to use up the leftovers of several projects. I have to tell you, sometimes those pieces come out prettier than what I intended to do in the first place. 😁

      Thank you for watching! And yes, I do this, too! I actually had that in this video, but I really had to cut it out due to timing. I have a really fun panel that I plan to use on a card in the near future. What I have also found, is that the back side of the panel can also come out prettier than what you had intended to make on the front! Depends, of course, on how much powder and work you put into the front.

      @@allisonfrazier I agree! So often, my unintended backgrounds are prettier than what I set out to do. 😁

    I love my shimmer powders and don’t use them enough! I wish there was an easier way to not have the powder stick to the white embossing, it’s the only thing I don’t like. These are beautiful projects!😍🙏💜

      Thanks for watching, Marcy! Are you referring to when it bubbles up on the embossed area? It is kind of a pain when there are a lot of areas to wipe off. If it's a bigger area, not so hard. If there are thinner lines, you don't really notice.

    • @MarcyM_
      @MarcyM_ 8 місяців тому

      @@allisonfrazier yes! It really is kind of a pain but like you mentioned, I try to use designs that have thinner lines in its design. Despite that I still love this technique!😍

    I think you would be happier if you didn't keep mopping up the colors. The powders (these and magicals) look so much more interesting if you let them dry naturally. They would have collected into the embossed areas if they could set. I think your mopping up with the paper towel was removing the effect you wanted. Your final results were lovely, but you sure did keep adding water and color. I don't normally use watercolor paper, so maybe I am more aware of not fussing with it much for fear of pilling the papers.

      Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment. I appreciate your feedback! Yes, I agree that powders can often look their best when they dry naturally, like they did on my first card. The reason I kept playing around with that second card is that I was just being really indecisive about the colors. And I think I mentioned that I left that footage in just to show you that you can change your mind with these powders and have some element of control over them, if you want. But yes, the watercolor paper definitely worked in my favor because I didn't need to worry about it pilling.
