@@sebastianforbes1 Yes. Because he does have a lot of influence. He has a 50/50 chance of being president, and he is telling Putin that if elected Putin will win. Trump is saying that he will force Ukraine to cede the conquered territory to Russia. The only and the sure way to end the war quickly is to tell Ukraine trade territory for a cease-fire because the US is cutting off all aid. Putin won't settle for less and Ukraine will have n choice if Trump cuts off all support otherwise. As I recall, the x-ambassador did not limit his comment to people holding political office. It will also encourage Putin to push to grab as much land has he can before the election and if Trump wins before inauguration day.

Beczuse the US has had several military misadventures, now, when it matters the most, it cannot act. What history appears to be showing us is that the US always misunderstands or incorrectly assesses its geopolitical position and its military position. At heart the US is isolationist but wants to reap the benefits of being a global superpower with none of the costs.
I am starting to see that if we want to fight these authoritarians we must make other alliances. The US does not care enough about freedom to fight. It seems they are willing to give up on their own democracy.

...couldn't agree with him more that "US Govt Politicians need to shut up"...as boasting about certain Military successes (especially how it was done) gives away future "Tactical & Strategic" advantages more often than not that then become harder to replicate & thus endanger friendly military forces more than possibly needed.

Some countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) have accepted the invitation to attend the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told a press conference after the results of his participation in the 19th East Asia summit on Friday.
"A whole number of ASEAN countries have been invited to attend the [BRICS] summit and these invitations have been accepted," Russia’s top diplomat said.
"I have no doubts that the approaches being developed within BRICS to various issues of the agenda can quite be of interest for participants in East Asia summits, especially for member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations," Lavrov said.
The BRICS association was established by Brazil, Russia, India and China in 2006. In 2011, South Africa joined BRICS. On January 1, 2024, Egypt, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia became full-fledged members of the BRICS association. This year, Russia holds the rotating chair in the association. The summit in Kazan on October 22-24 will be the main event for BRICS in 2024.

"...Putin has never been open to negotiation"
      Looking at Russia:
      1. 2014 Russia/Putin negotiated Minsk 1.
      2. 2015 Russia/Putin negotiated Minsk 2.
      3. 2022 (March) Russia/Putin negotiated peace talks with Ukraine in Istanbul.
      Looking at the USA:
      1. 2002 the USA unilaterally withdrew from the IBM Treaty, trashing that negotiation.
      2. 2019 the USA withdrew from the INF Treaty, trashing that negotiation.
      3. 2022 the USA (along with the UK) killed the Istanbul peace talks.
It has been the west, not Russia, who have evidenced anti-negotiation tendencies.
