it feels absolutely incredible. these days there are still no games you can finish over 20 times and still laugh at the jokes and admire everything you see. awesome comment by the way.
I still play these games to this very day, im 28 now, i still find them and boot up scummvm and blast ahead. They are still miles ahead of all other point n click even to this day. There is something in these games, everything is perfect, its like the Pixar of point n click.
This is just the best game ever RELEASED>>> AS IN EVER! I got this game from my Grandfather years ago! My sister and I still quote it... We have found ways to still play it! An oldie but a goody! One of the best things from my childhood.
This is one of the first games I ever remember playing on a PC. I must .... find this game..... again......and..... play it!! AHHHhhhhhhhhh.........!!!!
it took me forever to finish this game. this was my third favorite PC game when I was younger, behind Tie Fighter and Flight Simulator 5.0. memories.....
I would've been 13 when I first played it. I couldn't get very far, but I persisted. Then I got permanently stuck, so I gave up, for about a 4 years or so. Then the internet came! Got the walkthru and finished it lol. Felt good to see the ending.
it's so cool.. I feel like a child again just watching it.. I couldn't remember the name of this game!! i was searching it badly!! ben reminds me a bit of woody allen!
I got this and Sam and Max a couple months ago at gamestation for a fiver. Sam and Max was fun, but literally minutes ago I finally finished this for this first time! Although the graphics cannot age... I vote this in UT3.
Hell yeah! I was like five when I played this game, I couldn't read nor did I speak a damn word in English. I had no idea what the game was about, but I loved it all the same! XD
what a coincidence! my first printer was a dot-matrix, which I'm sure is what you're referring to :) that bloody thing costed my dad $700. Yes, those damn ribbons, they just kept drying up, and the noise! Then we got ourselves one of the first Epson colour inkjets for, wait for it... $1200. If people think their $200 laser printer costs too much, spare a thought for my dad lol
I've got the Triangular box version I bought the day it was released in the UK! You should all be jealous! I feel like I could, like I could, like I could TAKE ON THE WORLD
I wish I played this as a kid so I could feel nostalgic towards it. I'm sure the nostalgia would be more powerful than any other PC game nostalgia. Is that how you guys feel?
I received oodles of mail carries bringing letter from the wharf. Cause the blooming flower that had just sprouted was withering because a slug walked upon it.
I actually got this game as part of the Sound Blaster (for those oldies who still remember!) mega pack, the damn pack costed my parents AUD $800! and it was only 16bit which included a 4x speed CD player! Wait it gets worst...I later bought an Epson inkjet (one of the first on the market) for $1200 AUD!
Thumbs up if anyone remembers getting this game with all the other classics!? Remember it came with Sam & Max Hit the Road? Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Atlantis?! Man, that game was the SHIT!! Holy crap and it's still for sale on Amazon!! No shit! amazon.com/Lucas-Archives-1-Pc/dp/B00000K50T Might be worth buying an old ass computer just to play these classics again.
no, that's the new episodic series by TellTale, they're re-releasing the original Secret of Monkey Island with touched up 2D graphics that can be seamless switched back to the original SCUMM version... good times =D
The game was originally issues in a triangular cylinder box, which was supposed to be like a tentacle. If I'd known this game, unopened, would go for 200 a pop, i'd have bought some and put them aside.
undefinition1 That doesn't surprise me at all. Some early Amiga games are like that. Loom was an early PC game with it's own soundtrack. The cassettes of that soundtrack go for a bunch, too.
I would never have finished Sam and Max without a walkthrough. Some puzzles were beyond my reason :P I hope I can finish this one without that resource, though =)
this is weird, but hadn't the music on that game, only the sound, now it seems very strange with that song. what an awesome game, one of the greatest for me
OMGGGG, I'm 28 too (next month 29), this is the BESTESTEST game I've ever played. I can't remember how many time I've played through it when I was in elementary school. I mean Red Alert 2 and Final Fantasy 7 may be BEST, but this, this is just BESTESTEST.
I agree, im 24 now, I thought I was too old for this, but I just loved it when I was a little one, Still do. If you were a woman, I think, I might marry you!
What a game, what a soundtrack, what jokes!
The best game ever!
it feels absolutely incredible. these days there are still no games you can finish over 20 times and still laugh at the jokes and admire everything you see. awesome comment by the way.
Every generation has a legend... This game is definitely the best of its genre.
Hoagies ride in the Chron-O-John still makes me crack up.

Games like this one will never be made again...this is legend , that experience will never happen again only memories remains :)
I cant believe people are still playing this game. I played this like 10+ years ago on a windows 3.1. This game is still ALIVE!
Dave Grossman and Tim Shafer are the geniuses behind this jewel of a game!
This is one of the first games I ever remember playing on a PC. I must .... find this game..... again......and..... play it!! AHHHhhhhhhhhh.........!!!!

This games has Jane Jacobs in it, who was the voice of Sophia in Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Quite literally, a perfect game.
Forget Star Wars, this is the best thing ever released with George Lucas' name attached to it.
Absolutely great game.
I miss this game : (
Hell yeah! I was like five when I played this game, I couldn't read nor did I speak a damn word in English. I had no idea what the game was about, but I loved it all the same! XD

curse those anatomy finals! No matter how hard you study, You're never ready for them.
My favorite part is the popping out appendages.

I wish I played this as a kid so I could feel nostalgic towards it. I'm sure the nostalgia would be more powerful than any other PC game nostalgia. Is that how you guys feel?
I've never noticed Bernard just closes the door on the hamster, right after protecting it lol
I received oodles of mail carries bringing letter from the wharf. Cause the blooming flower that had just sprouted was withering because a slug walked upon it.
I miss the 90s :-(
@okamimiyazaki That makes two of us. You're the man!
I actually got this game as part of the Sound Blaster (for those oldies who still remember!) mega pack, the damn pack costed my parents AUD $800! and it was only 16bit which included a 4x speed CD player! Love this game!!!
Now-a-days "Day of the Tentacle" would be something very, very different.
lol i played this game back in teh days i also played monkey island wich was one heck of a game
It's "Morning" from the Peer Gynt Suite number 1 by Edvard Grieg.
no, that's the new episodic series by TellTale, they're re-releasing the original Secret of Monkey Island with touched up 2D graphics that can be seamless switched back to the original SCUMM version... good times =D
best game i ever played
It's from Rossini's William Tell (Guillaume Tell) overture.
i love that psycho influence
that's awesome!
pity that the sound is off by a little tiny bit...
The game was originally issues in a triangular cylinder box, which was supposed to be like a tentacle. If I'd known this game, unopened, would go for 200 a pop, i'd have bought some and put them aside.
Yeah, I bought that version back when it came out, because I thought it looked cool. I sold it last year for $330.
undefinition1 That doesn't surprise me at all. Some early Amiga games are like that. Loom was an early PC game with it's own soundtrack. The cassettes of that soundtrack go for a bunch, too.
I just realized the music composers are the same as in Grim Fandango, and the Monkey Island-series.
Amazing!
My god, why have I not heard a live orchestra version of this game's intro theme yet?
Aaaaahhhhh god... nostalgia ;o;
Did you know that Richard Sanders (Les Nessman from the show "WKRP in Cincinnati") did the voice of Bernard in this?
Pitty, that I couldn´t read and understand Englisch, when I was young. It was one of the most mysterious games, that I ever knew.
I would never have finished Sam and Max without a walkthrough. Some puzzles were beyond my reason :P
I hope I can finish this one without that resource, though =)
One of the best games ever made.
still wait for a HD arcade remake of this one *___*
TAKE ON THE WORLD, indeed. This game still rocks IMO. I can't find a working version for Vista :(.
I always loved how laverne looks xD
