I'm very put off by the lack of documentation, especially after release. I am interested in seeing what the API capabilities are like but everywhere I look it says it is local on the device. Really?!
I think Zooz has a really big missed opportunity with not adding Zigbee compatibility to their hub. Almost every smart hub has both Zigbee and Z-Wave compatibility.
thanks for review. As a zooz device user (primarily a good experience with some annoyanceover time with a few of the ~15 'mains' switches needing the airgap feature deployed), this was interesting to see. The relays have been excellent (actually use for irrigation, fireplace, garage, etc). Not sure I missed it, but did you address the cloud / local facets? I have ST, HE, and HA and am slowing moving to more localized set ups as I long as I can solve connectivity and integration issues along the way: moving from my archaic ST / AMaZon set up which still has a lot of cloud reliance. I assume the app/laptop can be local or via ZOOZ cloud account option for out of network access? And I assume the scenes, code, and Innovelli drivers are stored and operated locally with adequate memory on that box?
Hey design-build - hope I get 'em all here: - airgap: yeah, a couple of OEMs had that same problem. They all used the same manufacturer and it was an oversight. - relay: I keep meaning to make a video on that, stuff get's in my way. Irrigation is a cool use since most people don't have more than 3 or 4 zones anyway! - local: all conrol is local and there are methods to access via cloud (which I didn't really get into). The mobile app being one. I honestly didn't explore much beyond that in this round. I'll dig a bit deeper and if I find something, I'll pin it in a comment. - Scenes/Code/Drivers: Yup, all local. In all candor, I probably would have refused to do the review if this has been a cloud thing. Cloud control is not my jam. - adequte memory: I'm sure from a Zooz/Fibaro perspective there is enough memory. From my perspective, there is never enough storage, memory, or CPU speed. But as I'm constantly reminded, these are engineered for a balance of capability AND price. My hub would cost hundreds to build! In short, I'm sure it's fine. I did under sell the API. not on purpose, just time. It's pretty sweet and can get you through a lot of tough spaces.
My only experience with Zooz was with smart switches ... which sucked so bad that I threw them all in the trash and purchased new GE switches. As for giving them a chance with a hub, unless it is going to completely replace my Smartthings, and add a few bells & whistles ... then I have no reason to even bother with it.
It's always interesting the different experiences that people have. Certainly not discounting your personal experiences, but my Zooz switches have been the most reliable, followed by Inovelli, and GE in last place. A abnormally high percentage of my GE's failed between 24 - 30 months after install. I always mark my switches with the install date (sharpie), so it's easy for me to tell. Personally, I've had more GE's fail then Zooz and Inovelli combined. What makes that significant is that I have 10x the number of Zooz and Inovelli than GEs. But the bottom line is, if GE is working for you, stick with it! These things are expensive and we need the reliability. Thanks for sharing your feedback. I really appreciate it. Cheers
Hey, We are ONWOTE, a manufacturer of PoE and Wireless Security Camera Systems. Now, we are looking for partners to test and review our camera system, are you interested in this sponsorship?
Hi, sorry for the late reply. We tried your email address and got no response. Yes, we are always interested in sponsorship opportunities. Please reach out to pete@diysmarthomeguy.com to get the conversation going. We look forward to hearing from you.
While it is interesting, the absence of a Zigbee radio dampens the purchase desire. Additionally, there are hardly any unique features exclusive to Zooz. It's practically indistinguishable from the FIBARO HC3L that Zooz just rebranded.

It was an interesting choice to say the least.
UI looks a lot like fibaro which makes sense, I’m surprised they didn’t include a zigbee radio
It reminded me a lot of classic Vera. Maybe a sub-license by Fibaro theer. Vera is a solid OS, if it is a Vera derivative, pretty good choice.

I need Lurtron Caseta integration.
I'm in the same boat here

@@DIYSmartHomeGuy1 Hi, I emailed you again just now, did you receive it?

It will be interesting to see how well it sells to the Zooz loyalists.
I love Zooz switches/controllers but... I can not see why folks would use the Z-Box hub over Hubitat 🙂
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Thanks for the feedback! Cheers
Hubitat has no direct customer service. Found that out after my started going offline every 2 days at 8 months old.
All my gear is Zigbee, so I will NOT be buying!!!
I get it. That's a drawback for many people.
