About the slide show animation at the beginning of the season, the reason must be the most obvious and simple: they were given a short deadline to deliver season 2, so they had to sacrifice the weaker moments for the final episodes, because the animation as it was is basically the draft of the movement that was not completed, in this case the frame by frame.
