You're right that the 500 yen coin has security features in the zeroes of the 500; in addition to the line that the camera picked up, tilting the coin the other way will show "500円" vertically in the zeroes (円 being the character for "yen"). After the coin received its bimetallic redesign in 2021, the zeroes' security feature now reads "JAPAN" one way and "500YEN" the other. Also, take a good coin microscope to the side with the 500 on it and see if you can find the (very tiny) letters spelling out NIPPON within the 500. Hint: Look in the top curve of the 5 and the bottom of both zeroes.
Some bits of info for you knowing your background. In 1981 some of our (australian) 20c coins were made with the platypus having only 3 1/2 claws. All of those coins were made at the royal Canadian mint. Our biggest 20c variety was the 1966 wavy, that one was made at the royal mint in England. So both halves of your heritage have stuffed up our coins 😂.
A whole host of interesting coins from the Japanese 🇯🇵 500 Yen, New Zealand 🇳🇿 Dollar, Hong Kong 🇭🇰 2 Dollar, Pakistan 🇵🇰5 Paisa, Argentina 🇦🇷 25 Peso & Brazilian 🇧🇷 1 Real bi-metallic coin Great stuff Christopher 👍🏻
A tip for those Brazilians coins, always look at then with care, there's a lot of errors know for then and some can have a big value.
1:55 look cool and new for that age
The Brazilian coin at the start kind of reminds me a little bit of the Britannia £2 in a weird way.
It kinda does
And some models can get you a lot of cash from it.
