Buying EWE LAMBS and sorting through OLD EWES
Вставка

- In this video we were weaning our Cheviot and blackie ewes. We pulled off all the lambs first and then split the ewe lambs out to go to different grass.
The ewe lambs will be kept for the winter and most will be used in our own flock.
The boys / wedder lambs will be fattened up and eventually go to market where they are generally sold to supermarkets / wholesale meat buyers.
We use the Rappa handling system here as it's fast to setup and easy to use for a simple shedding job.

ABOUT ME
I’m 33 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on UA-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.
Marissa did a great job, it's never easy when you start out 🐑🐑🐑
What a brilliant childhood Jock and Angus are having. They'll be hardy bairns
Marissa did a brilliant job shearing! It’s such a difficult job which you and Lizzy make seem so easy.
Jock's eating straight ketchup! 1 serving of fruit done for the day.❤❤❤
Made me scoff. Remember doing that on the fishing boat as a kid.
I thought it was a jammy biscuit at first! 😂
Tomatoes are very important for boys, he’s doing well.
Yes Lizzy! That is the shot we Grandma's want! Them cute little lammies watching the action! Good job Marissa as well.
Every time wee Jock "helps" my heart melts.
To my completely non-expert eye Marissa is looking grand. After spending the summer watching shearing competitions I can see the right shapes and movements start to emerge from how she's moving.
"POETS day" = "P!ss Off Early. Tomorrow's Saturday." 😁
Great to see the kids always in the mix. Living it. 👍
Don't be discouraged Cammy. Fat and lean years happen to us all. You have a lovely family and that's worth fighting for. That's what is important in the long run.
I love the way the family are all part of the experience. What a privilege for Jock and Angus to grow up in such a wonderful environment.
Seeing Jock with one boot on, one boot off had me laughing out loud! At least I haven't seen him do what a lot of kids do - the minute your back is turned, off come the clothes, and then you find out how fast they can run. Marissa did a great job; patient and methodical. Speed will come along as she does it more. As usual Lizzie is in a state of perpetual motion, working and watching the kids. Cam, I know you do, too, but I gotta say... Lizzie is my hero!
She’s my hero too! 😁
She’s my hero too! 😁
I love the way the whole family is involved. Jock makes me smile as he wants to be part of the action and Angus won’t be far behind. Lizzy must have eyes on elastic keeping them safe and looking after the sheep! Great video.
Good to see everyone getting involved an having a laugh, marrisa done well. We've all got to start somewhere.
CammyI love seeing the boys having a good time in the background . Just another fun day for them. Merissa did great!
This shearing sequence has to be my all-time favorite shearing vid. Family & friends working together, relaxed and happy, next generation learning to help as can.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lol Meg thinks crisps lying around clearly belong to her 😂
Look at Lizzy working the camera like a pro!!
Progression is better than perfection!!!
I have a question..how often do you oil your blade’s when shearing? Do the blades get hot? …what memories y’all are going to have recorded of those precious moments of your babies childhoods to look back on later. I’m so proud of you Cammy. You are SOME DAD 🤍🤍🤍🥰 ( and Lizzie is SUPER MUM)
Thanks Tammy!! Every time we change our cutter so roughly every 20 mins we oil them 😁
I love that new logo! Kick ass Lizzie! She’s Batman.
Marissa did so well! To keep the sheep comfortable while moving sharp blades around has got to be a difficult set of acrobatics! And all the while bent down to shear? She’s amazing! 🙌🏽
Marissa and Lizzy are the BEST!!! Outstanding Ladies!!!
What a great treat this week, to see you all together, working and growing your family and business. Marissa did an awesome job, and you and Lizzy are such good mentors for the younger shepherds coming up. Such a joy to see Jock and Angus happy, healthy and helping out!❤. It was nice to see Billy with the children. You've built great relationships with so many people. God bless you all.
I don’t know how you and Lizzie would work sheep without Jock and Angus. Lizzie is so good at multitasking that if she weren’t doing four things at once I don’t think she could function. What a great Mom! The little ones are thriving and she hasn’t missed a step. Those were some beautiful sheep Cammie. And great start Marissa, you will be shearing like a pro soon.
Thanks Donna!
Great Video 💪🏼👌🏼👍🏼 and Marissa great job 💪🏼👌🏼👍🏼
Marissa.. you rocked it for your first time back. Good for you for hanging in there. Thanks for sharing from the USA!
Marissa did a great job!! I enjoy seeing Lizzie's Jock and Angus. You are such a wonderful family to watch.
You should visit Ewetopia farms in Canada. Arnie wants to learn how to shear. You would love it there. They are awesome. ❤❤❤
Great vlog. Thanks for explaining the plans. The two boys seemed to be having a fun time. ❤😀
Fair play to Melissa. Great job. Need more of you 👍🏼👍🏼
Marissa did well, far better than I could for sure!
Marissa did a good job. She'll get faster in time, but she looked like she was looking at the comfort of the sheep.
Your kids are never going to be bored, well until they get tired of sheep!
Well done Marissa. X
Beautiful family working together.
Marissa did a great job. Having broken her wrist and getting back to it is hard to overcome, but she did it!
I used to love shearing sheep 🐑 40 years ago when I was young and fit 😊
Looked like she got them done 👍 just go for it with the sheep mate, the reality is if you loose a block who cares 🤷♂️ sell some ewes, clean your flock up a bit and get after finding another block. Being ready to take on opportunity is key! Nice lambs you bought 🤘
You’re spot on there Colin!
Wow! More adds to the flock. Marissa did a fantastic job with the spell break. Thanks Cammy and Lizzy. The boys are looking sooo good too❤. Loved the fashion snippet too😊.❤️🇦🇺🏴
I loved seeing your son eating Catchup out of the little cup. Who says Catsup isn't it's owe food group! Your family is amazing! So is Marisa
🤣 thanks Susan!
Cracking video as always. Marissa did a great job. Keep up the good work Cammy
Well done marisa ,I get sore just watching .
Marissa (sp) did very well since it’s her first time in a while. Keep up the good work young lady xx
You three work so well together. Especially you and Lizzy, intuitively knowing what each is doing or needing. Nice to watch.
Marissa did a fine job, nice pace to work her way back into shearing. What handsome lads those boys are! Enjoy watching your videos and love seeing things moving forward for you both, you both work tremendously hard and deserve good blessings. ❤❤
Marissa is doing just great, and so are the babies.
Marissa done a great job. Jock and Angus are getting so big. Great video Cammy.
Love their faces. So pretty. Your boys are both with you. That’s a wonderful thing to do as they will learn right from the start the family business, if they so choose it, I suppose. ❤️🥰. Lizzy is back in great shape. Those boys are so handsome . Lizzy is a rock star, always.❤️👍. Marisa did a very good job. Jock is trying to help☺️ jock has such a nice head of hair, curly and soft looking, such a cutie. The sheep have such pretty faces with the dark markings. ❤️👍
Great to see Mariessa shearing I think she's brilliant. GREAT VIDEO ASS ALWAYS X
Marisa did a super job!!! Love all the Jock and Angus views!
I can only judge Marissa's proficiency in the context of your editing. My guess is you showed all the problems she had, and she handled them gracefully. 8/10, would recommend more footage
Nice job Marissa 🤜
Marissa did well ,it must be hard shearing when she is next to the master 😂😂
Those ewes look great and Marissa did a fantastic job!
Good for Marissa, great skill to have.
The 3 T’s 😂 We must have learned from a similar shepherd 😂 Great Video 👍🏼👍🏼🐑🐑🐑
Really good video, informative and enjoyable. Marissa is getting a very good training (hats off to Cammy and Lizzy) and well done to Merissa for showing such capability in a variety of situations.
Smart Scott mules , fair price for the hard work involved. Marissa top job , we all have to learn our trades . 😊❤
I love your sheep family graphics at the end! 😊 And honestly every time I watch I wish I could live near you. Some of the ones you don't want anymore would make nice pets for me!
Nice looking Ewe Lambs Cammy, good luck with them, Marissa did well for someone who is new to shearing, lambs who have never been shorn are hard to handle.
Marissa! Such a good job! Keep it up! Love to see another woman shearing!
Well done Marissa. It must be hard when you first learn. Good seeing the whole family at work. Jock and Angus bring the cuteness overload. ❤️❤️
Billy seems like a really nice guy. Loved the whistling for moving the sheep.
What a view, indeed! You have the best "office" in the world!
Great video cammy 👍 I’ve seen billy Welsh around dalmellington/Loch doon
Great job Marissa!
I think Marissa did a fine job. Your boys are so cute.
Nice jacket for that in between weather. It’s seem nice weather there . Not too hot but pleasant. Jock is getting tall. Great work. ❤️👍
Cammy, so good to see you and the family working together. The boys melt my heart. You both work so hard! I was dismayed by the very nasty, malicious and rude comment made by @dndfszk22. It was uncalled for. Cammy, thank you for paying attention to your vlog, educating people, and striving to keep it clean and family centered.
Thanks for the support 🥰
I just love the video ending❣️ I had to back it up to watch again. Lizzie gets her own pink sheep on the logo now‼️ Congrats, Lizzie❣️🐑
i cracking bunch of ewe lambs. will be a great start a strong flock.
Great weather! Boys are growing so fast! Marisa did great!!
🇨🇦When I come to Scotland some day, I’d like to try my hand at sheering. Great job Marissa!
Great job Marisa! Jock and Angus are adorable and growing up so fast.❤❤😊
Gosh guys! What a juggle with the babies as well! Fair play to you all.
Happy to see Marissa! She handles the sheep beautifully!
Marissa - I'm so glad your wrist is doing better. Great job shearing today! You have good moves, and I know you'll get faster & do a shearing season in New Zealand. Thanks for the vid, Cammy!
Well done Marissa. How well behaved Jock and Angus are as you and Lizzy work, speaks well for young parents. You and Lizzy are really growing your business, amazing how much you all have grown.
Marissa done great, always hard learning a new skill, you have some team there Cammy.
Those ewe lambs were great value..look to be a smashing bunch..
A boy Cammy another good video 👍.
What about Jock the legend pushing his legend brother around in the buggy 😂.
Marrisa did very well, shearing sheep is tough but shearing lambs is on another level.
Lizzy did a great job watching over everything.
Well done Marissa, never knew u could shear, but u looked to have done well, good to see your keen to learn
Marissa did a great job!! Shearing is not easy!!
good price for you
I have been watching your channel for a year now (I found you through Tom Scott), It's flown by. Such great content!
Marissa always does a super job.!!!! ❤❤❤
Nice to see technology being used in sheep farming
Marrisa shearing yahoo 🎉
Marissa is coming along brilliantly. I’m a little OCD and I couldn’t shear unless I could get every bit off. I know time is money but my sheep would look soooo good. Anyway, Marissa you did a wonderful job today.
Marissa did very well 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Those are some beautiful lambs of Billy's. Nice video sir.
Marissa is a hard worker by the looks of it. The finesse of shearing will come with practice.
Jock discarding a boot was funny. Sheep shit sock...
Forward planning with major unknown factors involved is tough but if you don't gradually buy in new ewes and tups then you won't ever increase the numbers or improve the flock quality.
Hopefully you have some decent weather for the rest of Autumn to keep them doing well on grass without too much extra feed.
Onwards and upwards...
I swear that the best thing about this channel is the banter and seeing the wains (children) playing about...fantastic channel..cammy and lizzie are amazing...I honestly don't how yous manage but you're "pure dead brilliant,so ye are" blessings fae just up the road in Perth...hope yous had a gid Christmas and awe the best fir the new year 💪🏴🥃..congratulations btw on your baby 👶 news 🥰🥰
I think she did really well. I shear my own but do it like I'm getting them ready to show. My back would l don't make it. Have a great weekend.
As always beautiful lovely captured and the filming edition captured settings presentation looks spectacular gorgeous, great video and very interesting video to watch .. Merci beaucoup Monsieur
Marissa was doing fine. Although the weight is less, much easier to go get the positioning wrong and then end up struggling with lambs. So questionable as to which is most tiring. But each tiring day is one less in the future as her technique improves…
Yes, Marissa did a great job🎉
Everybody works soo hard. Boys are so cute. Blessings to you all.
You never have to worry about your boys not spending enough time outdoors. That is the benefit of having Farmers kids
Class lambs Cammy, good luck to them👍, great work from Marissa, can't bate new blood
That is a good price for those lambs. Here in Ontario a commercial replacement ewe lamb would be double that price or more. I love that your boys are included in your work life, I did that with my sons also.
Thanks Rebecca! Hope u are well!
Great video Cammy hi Marissa done very good no bother to her 💪and good luck with your new lambs great stuff 👌
Lovely video . I think she did well shearing.
