Building tumbleweed ranch with david was the best thing i’ve ever seen on UA-cam. This is now takes the cake. Please don’t cut any part of this series, the longer the better.
Fantastic video guys. Is there anything that David can't do? So glad he's back on the channel. I wish someone would just pay him and say build whatever you want all the time. Thanks guys. Can't wait for the next one
Go with a 700R4 (4L60), or better still a 6L 80, or 6L 90, or even a 4L85-E. If you can get it adapted to a the Transfer-case, add a "Gear Vendors" overdrive-unit.
This was a fantastic video. David is such a craftsman, love watching him work though problems to find solutions. Thanks TFL for a great Christmas present.
What Great video !!! really enjoyed it and can't wait for next part. Its always so great to see a 'diy" work on the cars and fabrications . to use what you have available and make best of it . know from my own experience working on my truck lol
This is cool. My Dad have swapped a 5 cylinder diesel from an 1980 Mercedes in our UAZ, 25 years ago. Back then it felt like a spaceship. But this is the next step . ❤
And Merry Christmas! Great gift for you Andre. And David, a Merry Christmas to you Mr. Santa! Hope you and your family are having an excellent day together! You deserve it with all the hard work you put into these projects for others. Looking forward to seeing your completed project as well. Stay safe and healthy!
David, what about a hitch mounted ladder? Use a receiver extension as a base and weld angled square tube to offset it to the left. Yes it would be a little loosey-goosey but put a rattle-eliminating bolt through a welded on captured nut and it would eliminate rattles while on the road. It could even incorporate a fuel can holder and backup light on it.
In Russian, the nickname also carries a layer of humor: " to bukhat' " means "to get drunk". This vehicle is often used for hunting trips, and it's quite common in Russia for hunters to end up drinking instead of actually hunting.
I remember when i was a kid back home my dad used to work for a gas company and they converted buhanka into a service vehicle 😂. They also had ambulance many other versions of this vehicle produced
I remember those eyesores when I was a kid in Cuba, they were really slow and always had issues with overheating, many were already rusting thru right out of the ship, their nickname was “guasabita”.
I'm very surprised and overwhelmed by idea bringing Buhanka from Russia to USA (I'm from Russia, Siberia, Novosibirsk). And moreover by idea of swapping V8 into Buhanka (and how V8 almost perfectly fits into frame and engine bay). Waiting for next series :-)
I know this is Andre's personal van and he does have to fund it, but THIS is the sort of content ive been waiting for, for quite a while. and we all know LS swaps have been done to death, but even so..... also that dog house etc is crying out to be converted to a 3rd front seat, either like a bench seat or like a classic defender with 3 'individual' seats
Wish this was a series instead of 1 long video, hope TFL keeps David around because hes more interesting and useful than the rest of the staff combined.
Id like to see how Roman reacts to views of this video where you don't have to buy a cybertruck to get views... this is much more entertaining. You just blew up his business plan.
@ East coast. I imported these after I moved back to the USA. I have a Trabant and a ZAZ on the way from Bulgaria as well. Should be arriving port in two months. They’ve been sitting in my garage in Sofia for a few years. I restored the ZAZ when I used to live there.
David is pretty skilled. I would have recommended putting a 302 Ford into it because its a narrower engine and not the HP of the LS engine. Sometimes less is more especially for not breaking rear ends.
That thing is cool. But I wish you would’ve went with a NV3500 or a NV4500. At least with either of those transmissions you’ll get the overdrive. Depending on what you plan on doing you could do NP203/205 doubler.
Wow, Hell yeah guys. This is an awesome project. I've been hoping to see an update on it! Great to see David again. You brought your project to the right guy, that is for sure. These kind of projects teach you many things, that's for sure. Good call on the 5.3 and the NP205. That engine and transfer case are almost indestructible. Great progress, can't wait to see how this one turns out.
The video is the best Christmas present. Merry Christmas TFL
Same to you!
Building tumbleweed ranch with david was the best thing i’ve ever seen on UA-cam. This is now takes the cake. Please don’t cut any part of this series, the longer the better.
Thank you for the kind words. Part 2 is coming next week.
More content like this! David and Andre are the best!

Second & final part is coming next week.
I love the way David and Andre play off each other. They both have positive approaches. Makes for a very entertaining video.

David is Andre's Santa. Been waiting to this for a long time.
the radioactive purple dirt is wild
Would have been great to use a Geiger counter on it.
You don't think it was dirt caked with some purple coolant that leaked out?
This was a fantastic video. David is such a craftsman, love watching him work though problems to find solutions. Thanks TFL for a great Christmas present.

Andre and David make the most entertaining videos they compliment each others personalities. Enjoy seeing the two of them together. Thanks guys!
Hey TFL, congrats on making a video that isn't cringe like usual. David is the MVP. This is the kind of content real enthusiasts like.

Congratulations!! Great job David and Andre the fabulous car builders! here's a new channel for " TFL CarBuilding"!!

Glad to see David again, he’s in his element here and really makes this great content!

That’s not true and he wouldn’t even agree with that silly 😜. The whole team makes tfl what it is. 😊
David is pretty awesome and extremely valuable to the team and I definitely was glad to see him in the thumbnail 😊
This is a series. Part 2 will publish next week.
I like the longer video and it’s still on multiple parts.
I love this guy ! Real cowboy!
Id like to see how Roman reacts to views of this video where you don't have to buy a cybertruck to get views... this is much more entertaining. You just blew up his business plan.

Easily a top ten video ever made my TFL.

With the money Andrey is saving, he could buy a lift for David.
David is awesome! Ingenuity at its finest….farmer’s know how.
Incredible work

I think this was the most interesting TFL video I've ever seen.
Cool looking van.
what a cool project andre!!
This is great! Hopefully no one else has done an LS swap into one of these Russian rigs!
We think we are first…
Looks great! Can't wait to see it in testing! IKE gauntlet perhaps?
This man is so cool giving stuff away. Brilliant video guys. David is an amzing mechanic.
Andre and David!🤠
I imported one of these and a Lada 1500 from Bulgaria about 5 years ago. Been a pleasure and the mount of attention they get is wild.
Where are you based? West coast?
@ East coast. I imported these after I moved back to the USA. I have a Trabant and a ZAZ on the way from Bulgaria as well. Should be arriving port in two months. They’ve been sitting in my garage in Sofia for a few years. I restored the ZAZ when I used to live there.

Great video!!! Congratz!
Love when David is on - freaking stud
You should sell that purple dirt as a buhanka souvenir!
Yes you that right Peace out
Andre use a mouse blocker in the loaf! I use in my rv and i have never seen a sign of mice!
Take this rig to Matt’s Off-road recovery games in the spring
You guys are hilarious! Merry Christmas TFL
Merry Christmas!
You mentioned in the video that the 4 cylinder engine isn't original but it looks like it is. Newer Bukhankas did come with fuel injected engines.
this thing is so cute in it's own way
This is amazing! Great work and Merry Christmas!
Can’t wait till the end fully finished awesome

I'm so happy to see some Buhanka content and David! Please make this a long video series.
Can't wait to come to Denver and go for a ride Andre!
Let’s do it soon!

If folks didn’t know before, they do now…David can do anything!
