    Great comparison, thanks for the effort undertaking and the comments on the effect on fingers. I put the black water on my mahogany tenor, they are harsh, but the clarity for finger picking are just perfect. The blue moon had it for me, then the green, black, clear and Aquila. That said, the real winner was the pineapple, really surprised how nice a sound they produce. Oh No, not looking anymore🫣.

      No worries at all - I like to know what I am talking about when I sell them... and couldn't think of another way to better get to know them that stick 'em all on!

    Great video! My faves kept changing….. I’d think “this one”….then “wait…no, this one….” lol! The Aquilas are loud but always at the bottom of the stack so that narrows it down a trifle. Each of the aNueNues had a slightly different flavor to them…. Just gotta listen again! Thanks Matt!

    Very interesting, Matt! The thing that seems obvious to me is that no one string sounds 'best' in every clip, which is one of the reasons I haven't fitted the Black Waters to my tenor yet despite believing they'll probably work better for *some* pieces. But I could be tempted to try either extreme for a future string change on my concert where the Black Water tension might help guard against my current tendency to pull them about too much or the Green Planet bring some extra warmth at the expense of that. Of course there's still a good chance that experimentation will see me returning to the Pepe Romeros you chose for me in the first place, but who knows? :-)

    I received the blue moon strings on Thursday and put them straight onto my pono mango pineapple uke and I'm over the moon with them 😊 I'm a big fan of the Clearwater and will continue to use them too,The blues I think are a tad softer than Clearwater ones and not as sharp but there really nice. I will try out the green ones soon I'm sure. Thanks for the video Matt cheers John 👍🎼🍻🎶🎵🎶🎵🎼

    Dunno about the strings, all of which sound good, but now I want that solid mango pineapple 🤩 I have the Ohana solid mahogany pineapple concert and love it ❤

    I hear a difference between the Aquila and the AnueAnuenues in general (as they are all flourcarbons). Envy the ears of everybody who hears the difference between the colors ;-). I reckon the feel varies though, due to the different gauges. The pineapple mango Ohana is super sweet and nicely deep Thanks for the vid!

    Recently put blackwaters on one of my tenors and was finding they take a long time to settle compared with other brands so your comments on this were very timely. But when in tune they are great strings. Seem crisper with greater volume than the Martin fluorocarbons I had on previously.

      Think it's always handy to know that sort of thing, so you don't think, 'have I got a dodgy set', or worse, 'am I going mad!'

    The most striking example for me, apart from when your nails strike the strings, was that the Aquila sounded just right whereas them blue ones, even though they were a slightly sharper and more defined sound, didn’t knock the Aquila into 2nd place. Both sound different but there’s nowt wrong with them Aquila sounds; they’re just different.
    As to the greens- they have low polling just now - the blues have suffered little support lately. Black strings matter as well.
    If the instrument was available in tango the colour would be more strident than mango.

    Thanks for the comparison. A tough call given the variation amongst woods and body size in the real world. Of the options for this particular instrument I leaned toward the black. I thought the blues were more muted and did not bring out the treble as well as the others. The Aquila strings held their own too. But the black would be my choice then perhaps green. I tend to buy Martin fluoros because generally they sound good and are cheap and readily available but I can see reasons to experiment now.

      Yes, it's a tricky one as different strings suit different instruments. But it might be a handy guide - mabye blues if you have a uke that sounds too bright, clears if it sounds too warm etc. Not a guarantee but it might give a hint as to what might work.

    Great video Matt. I've got the clear water as recommended by you on my Baton Rouge flamed maple soprano and I love them. Will definitely try the other aNueNue string's. I want to find how the green and blue feel on my Uma concert pineapple sound now. Cheers Matt 👍

      Yes, I had underestimated the difference the feel would make and while I mentioned it, it's very difficult to get over what that feel is! But certainly worth a try next time you need a string change.

    Hi Matt, thanks for this comparison video, very interesting.
    First thing the pineapple ukes sounded great.
    Secondly, I have been a big fan of the aNueNue clear and blackwater strings for a long time (using the clears on darker woods and blacks on spruce or cedar).
    Having just ordered some of the green and blues I am looking forward to trying them out.
    After listening to this demo I think I just prefer the blues, but they both sound good.
    Again, thanks for comparing the strings. Cheers... 👍

      Great. Will be interesting to hear what you think of the feel as well - something that's difficult to convey on a video!

      @WorldofUkes Will let you know.
      On the string subject, I also like the Kiwaya strings especially the low G set, they never seem to get a mention.

    Great to hear each short sample compared in order. It helped to listen while not looking and then going back to the one I preferred. I find the blacks feel hard and tight. I dont like them on my Moonbird (first world problems eh!)
    There is a lot to be said for feel and so I'll go for green or blue next time I need some.
    Thanks for taking the time to do all that Matt!

    • @WorldofUkes
      @WorldofUkes  6 місяців тому +2

      Yes, those blacks are pretty high tension - I think the suit the Moon Bird though. For feel these greens and blues are well worth trying.

      Playing it on my TV with a soundbar, I have settled on the blues. The greens sounded less clear. Good point about mental connections like blue/cold, green/earthy

    I’m always looking for soft tension strings, so your observation about the green planets was helpful. I liked them and the clear waters for sound. How would you say they compare for tension?

    I really like the green planet, to me the sound was a little warmer than so e of the others 😊
