I'm pretty sure the whole point of the denman brush is that you are supposed to flip it over at the end of a a brush stroke and it supports the curl pattern am I completely wrong here?
pretty much what you do is run it through your hair strand like a normal brush until you have about three or so inches left until the end of your hair and then flip in kind of forward. another was of thinking of it is how you can curl a ribbon by using friction with scissors. i hope i explained it well
Hey, I used a wider brush because here in Cuba we don´t have the Denman original Type and it worked!!! I think the secret is the technique and the product balance, but even so, your video helped me a lot!!! Thanks!!!
I have an old Conair brush that has 9 rows, sort of similar to the Denman brush. I used the same technique and got amazingly defined springy curls. This tells me is not the brush but rather the technique. I have used it twice now with different products and I get the same beautifully defined curls. The funny thing is that my brush is like 5 years old, barely used it until now. It is my new BFF!
I use a comb to detangle Then a paddle brush to distribute (really good surprisingly) And the denman brush to smooth it out and twist it at the ends. its a *job* with 3b *very frizzy* curly hair.
there's a certain way to use the denman brush if you want to use it to define your curls! manes by mel has an awesome video on defining with the denman brush:)

i love my denman brush but i have a tender scalp so if my hairs badly tangled itll hurt a lot even with finger detangling. i believe i modified it to only have 4 or 5 rows

It makes my curls look more defined and I can actually say that my curls have survived 3 days. I've only had to refresh my curls with conditioner or leave it because it's a little damaged from the color. But it has been the best thing for my curls. All I see is definition

I left my hairbrush on a plane on my way to the uk, so as soon as I landed o was looking for a hairbrush, and I picked this one up. Never knew it has all these tricks to it 😂 That brush was never great for me but I feel like this is why

Hey Sara S I was afraid too, but if you do the deep conditioning first your hair will be moist and strong, then rinse, apply your leave in products and do the brushing by layers...the results are amazing!!!

MsJbreezyy I’ve tried the denman brush before ; what I’m saying, and from what I’ve heard, /read, it wasn’t actually made for curly hair. I’ve tried different brushes created for curly hair but nothing works so far so I’m at a bit of a loss XD
I watched your video about your curly journey, but I didn't see about mix curls, I mean, when your hair got healthier, but not yet healthy all the way like it is now, did your curls got curly the same way? I hope you know what I mean. My curls are similar to yours on my bangs and front part of my hair, but on my crown area they barely curl, so I don't understand why is that, do you think my hair just need more time to curl more? Try training your hair with pin setting curls that give you trouble. You can also get silicone hair rollers to spot curl, wear them while you diffuse/air dry/plop and you'll have more uniform, tighter clumps.
Oooo! I've never actually heard about this brush before! Can you explain what the number of rows signifies? Is it based on someone having more hair or curlier hair so you'd want more rows?
meggopops Honestly I’m not sure why people take them out! That’s why I leave mine the way it is lol. Maybe some peoples hair is really knotty and too many bristles might catch on their hair so they want less rows
So THATS the problem. I had such issues with this brush pulling and stretching my hair, but I was trying to detangle with it. I should have known better after hearing all my life from my stylist Mom "don't brush wet hair!"

She used it wrong. You need to use it on the underneath of your hair and flip it in at the end, not just brush like you normally would. Then scrunch some gel in.
You’re not supone to use the deman brush to distangle your hair it’s only made to give your curls a better definition please do not use the denman brush to distangle your hair 🙂

You can slide it out to change the rows rather than pulling on it and tugging it out. Just add some water to loosen it.

Maybe try using lighter products. Heavier products can do that too your hair when it’s well distributed
The nots in my hair are very small so I don’t use fingers

first the products and then brush when you wash it. If your curls come too big, you can split them with your fingers, then srcunch and let them dry.
