If Bungie didn't "replace" every weapon and just left weapons alone this would've been perfect, it's a decent game mode but it's ruined by bungies meddling with damage numbers.
a vast majority of the PvP community loves this gamemode, and bungie clearly saw this and they are actively updating it. hell, every week since it has been out it have gotten some changes. and all of them where good. bungie really struck gold with this one
Completely agree with your takes. Been saying we need to slow down/remove abilities and super in competitive PvP for a while now and people always laugh at that idea. I love how checkmate came out and now most people are loving the gamemode and rethinking how competitive crucible should be played.
Ya I love all the ability stuff in PvE - makes build crafting super fun. PvP though, I agree with you a lot. What makes the PvP the most fun is the gunplay. Choice in load out is awesome, but with too many abilities it just is a mess imo.
I'm pretty sure that is where Bungie wants to take the crucible in the future. That is why there are so many modes being implemented in checkmate. They are gathering data, feedback and making tweaks along the way to use it as the base sandbox in PvP. Then bring it to comp and Trials. Let's go PvP strike team!
@@spreud9172 not by much, I would rather them reduce ability damage than increase our health. As increasing our health also impacts our ttk on weapons. And increasing our health just leads to death balling similar to what we had in D2 year 1, which everyone hated.
I'm ABSOLUTELY loving Checkmate (minus the MANY Wish Enders I've encountered). This mode REALLY emphasizes actual gun play (for the most part) and I LOVE it.
I think this is how Bungie should have slowed the game down when they launched vanilla D2. Instead, they went WAY overboard with double primary, no random rolls, extremely high ttk, no abilities almost at all and 4v4. It just incentivesed hand holding team shots and had zero clutch moments as snipers and shottys were heavy and everyone just ran cluster rockets or play of the game instead. It was also horrible for pve. But doing it this way, it limits special without removing it completely, slows down abilities(now I don't like the tripple melee kills and abilities not doing as much damage since they charge so slowly anyway, if they take 2 minutes they should do full damage) and forces a slower game all without affecting pve whatsoever. They're on the right track but they've still got a ways to go. I also don't want this replacing the current pvp completely either as it absolutely kills like 75%, or more, of the exotics and builds in the game. I could see it working as a replacement for comp and as a second quickplay option(if there's enough players to populate both) while leaving Trials and the current quickplay alone. Some ppl love the current ability spam pvp, especially casual players, and Bungie has to keep them engaged as well. They should ABSOLUTELY make this one of the rotating Iron Banner gamemodes as it seems perfect for it with it's focus on different ways to play pvp. So I want this as a permanent option and maybe a complete replacement for something like comp while also keeping the normal pvp in as well.
Ooooo yeah rumble checkmate mmmm yeah that sounding like a nice hot cocoa on a cold day. Love the new mode tho SO much fun just using ur primary like 80% of the match if not more. Theres nothing like just slaying out with a ur fav 140 hc….just pure bliss. It feels like ur battling tooth and nail, blood and bone for those kills somtimes so gratifying. 😂😂🎉🎉
Checkmate should be the standard "base" rules of all the Comp and Trials modes I think. Control/Clash/IB can stay as they are but "endgame" PvP modes should focus on gunplay and aim
First 3 weeks we have checkmate control, then 3 week of checkmate survival, and soon, checkmate rumble. Exotic swap lockout has been in the game in comp, and trials for a good while now, to prevent people from hotswaping super exotics just when they want. 6v6 of this mode was flooded with bows, as well as a few outlier weapons, 3v3 is 1000x better imo, less chaotic, and you actually get to play the way the gamemodes wants you too. In this gamemode, players have slightly more hp than normal, most weapons have a dmg reduction, or are their standard dmg, HCs in particular are a bit stronger, i think as well as autos and smgs just a small pinch since 3v3 started, not too sure since using HCs is way more fun. Ability changes are super pog and i love it, but healing based abilities feel too oppressive in the slower ttk/more hp meta. Healing nades and phoenix dive and wormhusks on demand hp in particular is really rough, as it can often just let you steamroll people without much resistance. Rifts static nature, as well as animation for use makes it much less of a problem. Exotics that do the same like OEM are really strong too. Base melee dmg is now a 3 shot again, which is good, but arc titan doing arc titan things still teleports around and 2 hits with knockout, so they're pretty strong. Special is bar progresses a ton when you get primary weapon kills, and jumps alot more when you get mulities with them, ability kills don't move the bar nearly as much, which i like. Though i think the bonus bar you get on primary multikills could come down a bit, as it often leads to snowballing of a game with special as you feed final blows ot one player. Don't let the criticism fool you though, this is by far one of the best things that's happened to pvp in so long i love it. With the pain points of the gamemode ironed out a bit, it's 100% the future of this game Best part? They're building it not as a gamemode, but a modifier, meaning once its ready, they can easily apply it to pretty much any gamemode they want very easily
Checkmate is the best game mode ever, love it! Needs a few tweaks for example would love to see Special and Heavy bricks on a timer. Removal of all damage and overshield (resistance) perks. And call me crazy but standardizing ability cooldowns and not tying them to armor stats.
Couldn't agree more, as someone who lived in skirmish/slavage in D1 for hours on end, D2 has never hit the same way. I've said for years, class abilities broke the crucibles dynamic along with ability uptime. Special also felt more oppressive due to abilities making primaries feel weaker and primaries actually being weaker in general. This mode is the biggest step in the right direction, and I feel like im having the most fun with the crucible in forever.
I think it's safe to say most people are enjoying Checkmate. Leave the ability spam to Mayhem. I honestly feel like Checkmate should be the new normal sandbox, it's just so refreshing to be able to have more gunplay. The only thing that some teams do is just sit, hold hands and team shot which can be pretty boring and stale to play against. There might be some tweaking here and there that could be done, but, for the most part I've enjoyed it. Rumble is next week and next season Skirmish is making a return, we're getting a 3v3 rotator node, competitive weapon focusing. Things that sound promising. 👍
Yo Tashman we miss you man! Time to take a break from the waifus for a sec and come back to destiny next season. Checkmate is being baked intp the new crucible experience with some more fine tuning. It's clear bungie is really investing in this mode and hopefully the pvp strike team can polish it. Would not be surprised if it gets implemented into comp and trials in the future. They better tone down the bows though. I know frost told you it's getting annoying..
Titan shields and rifts need to be pulled from the game. Give all classes movement abilities. Solar warlock already has that dodge burst glide and and Titans have a their burst movement as well. Only Hunters only have a movement ability and not something extra like shields and rifts.
Love love love this and all the stuff you said at the end. Especially those final few ppints about the 5-1 ratio. I hope Bungie is listening because i think itll be extremely positive criticism
Love seeing you put out a destiny video again, you were my favorite destiny content creator before you switched to genshin. No hate for the genshin content tho
I'm case you were wondering why your ace felt a little different, a few changes happened to range and damage. 1. Ace got nerfed, and now when you have memento Mori active you have 10 less range 2. Weapon damage has been specially tuned for certain archetypes to have certain ttk in checkmate 3. Zoom got decoupled from damage falloff so several guns got changes to their damage falloff
Great to see you back in Destiny man. Have to agree with you about Trials and Titans for sure. Definitely OP. Will definitely have to give Checkmate a try. Keep up the good work mate.
im so glad you posted a video. You and Mr. Fruit were what got me into the crucible, he's been struggling lately and doesn't really enjoy destiny content anymore and I know you had your reasons for leaving the game. But either way, i came back to the game last week after taking a cold turkey break for 2 seasons. I played some comp, and really enjoyed myself. played some IB... really enjoyed myself and now here you are posting a vid like the good old days. love it. thank you. also, yes titan shields op af. (coming from a hunter tho)
im glad you come back from time to time and im GLAD at least you can see the overshield and ability spam is just to much currently and a lot of players who play regularly cant see it since thats all they see and becomes normal to them......
Rumble checkmate is next week as well Tash, you know what you gotta do.
Word??? Gonna check it out
Yessir, the rumble king! And bring your sister! 😂
I can't wait to watch!!
RUMBLE KING IS BACK BABY
Best comment so far.

Daam dude, the skill is still there! Nice gameplay man!
Seeinged Mtashed actually enjoying Destiny again after the 3 painful years of Genshin is so refreshing, glad to see you having fun again man!

The fact that skirmish is coming back with checkmate makes makes me happy
Checkmate really shined in Survival, it's ok in 6v6 but it felt way better in 3v3.

checkmate should be the baseline for destiny 2 pvp, everything regular pvp needs is in checkmate
Yeah...the current pvp state should be like a "pve overpowered pvp" where there's lots of abilities and sp ammo etc
@@testme242 its only fun now because it has cbmm. You watch as soon they turn on sbmm everyone will hate it.
.
I wish this was how pvp is. Ability spam is what puts me off about d2 pvp
memento mori reduces range now so it's not worth using unless you want that forgiveness
Always nice seeing you enjoy yourself on Destiny. Hope you’re having fun!
Im not really a fan of the increase health to guardians, but I really like the special ammo changes and less ability spam.
the health slows everything down and makes abilities less powerful
@@spreud9172 not by much, I would rather them reduce ability damage than increase our health. As increasing our health also impacts our ttk on weapons. And increasing our health just leads to death balling similar to what we had in D2 year 1, which everyone hated.
Honestly a huge thing is resilience values mattering in PvP
It causes all kinds of problems that make the game less fun overall
..... yet they nerfed Stompees because jumping with the jumping class was oppressive :D
I'm ABSOLUTELY loving Checkmate (minus the MANY Wish Enders I've encountered). This mode REALLY emphasizes actual gun play (for the most part) and I LOVE it.
I cant wait for next week. I'm playing a drinking game, I drink whenever Tashed says "Rumble King" Two For "Rumble King Baby"

Checkmate is not for me. Destiny without special ammo and abilities is whack.

The problem I have is they keep nerfing offensive abilities and ignoring defensive abilities or even buffing defensive abilities, feeding the slowness
bro i havent see your videos for like 3 years I don't know you have a 2nd channel for destiny 2, kinda miss u lmao.
Not to mention how dumb the zone trials is when Solar Lock and Void Titan are just insane in neutral and have the best super for zone modes
Wow. A MTashed Destiny video? That's a rare but good sight

Checkmate Trails would be God Tier and even in Comp.
Loved watching you play trials with Frost again.
The return of the Rumble king 👑
I completely agree with the comments about void titans being op
Gladd to see the rumble king back. Also there will be a rumble version in labs next week
No, youre 100% correct about abilities they need to rework the fuck out of them
The voice of the common man in Trials... Welcome back brother!
Rumble right now is sooo bad I use to love rumble now it’s just terrible
so the twid this week said 140 will 3 tap among other weapons being better
geekermon and tash content in the same couple days?? what did i do to deserve this?

I get a mtash destiny video today too! Just nothing but greatness today!
wait another upload from the guy that brought me to this game, that's a W in my eyes
Oh, forgot this channel existed.
Love your D2 content, miss ya and hope you are well.❤
Lvl 2 guy “cracked” - actually no damage dealt 😂
Seeing the Tashman poppin off and having fun here nice to see
This needs to be the normal mode for PvP honestly.
I love seeing you back in destiny tash man
Players have about 220 health in checkmate i belive
Checkmate honestly feels like the end of D1.
But slightly better I’d even say cause no crates.
