This was the best explanation of the loaded brush method i've ever seen, and where I previously had struggled, it just immediately clicked. Somehow, I had missed the detail that the basecoat colour should be fairly thin, vs the loaded highlight colour. I makes complete sense now that I know, but somehow that knowledge had eluded me!

Really glad it helped! It's an easy thing to miss and took me a while to figure out myself

this has been the most helpfull tutorial of the loaded brush technique. thank you.

Glad it was useful! It does take a bit of getting used to, especially gauging how thin you need the base paint to be, but worth practicing for sure.

Glad the video was of use! There's more scope for further explanation on this topic, but I'll wait until I'm better at showing what I can do in front of the camera!

Wow tbh I've never seen someone actually (print?) Out a basic shape to demonstrate a volume and how it should be highlighted.
I think a video showing how to highlight a (simulated) matte and reflective material on all kinds of basic volumes.
A cylinder, a sphere, a cube, and a curved band (yes I know technically just a very narrow and wide cylinder but a highly common shape in trim/cloth/belts etc)

All superb ideas! I do definitely want to revisit this very soon because the video didn't quite turn out how I wanted, so I think adding in all of those suggestions is a great idea. The basic shape I used is just pieces of plasticard tubing, but it's a lot easier to get the point across on a simple shape as you've seen, so I'll make up some other simple shapes and see how it goes!

I liked this a lot. However, it is a little too simple. Performing the technique on the surface you did is ‘too easy.’ I think it would add a lot if you then demonstrated on actual surfaces we will be painting on like power armor panels. Demonstrate how you adapt that basic technique on a tube to our models. Thank you for the content.

There is a reason I picked that particular shape for the tutorial, because its a cylinder, and power armour is made up of cylinders, so the technique translates exactly and doesn't need to be adapted. Obviously there's other factors like lighting and secondary reflections etc, but that's a subject for a future video, there's definitely room to expand upon what was covered here, and plenty more planned! Thanks for watching.
