Like I haven't resonated enough. I'm glad we're all lucky enough to be living in this reniverse. Especially in a time where we really need an artist shift.. to make us really smile.. cause I believe that some people have forgotten how to do so over the last few years.. no fault of their own. Big peace and love to everyone out there. Whether your lucky enough to have been blessed with this music master piece or not... I truly believe everyone will be that lucky soon enough. And if you don't. Then someone who has, will share that love and happiness. So it will all filter down eventually
A lot of people, including reactors, talk about Ren's health issues as things he WENT through. He's still going through them. It's not in the past. He's still suffering from 2 extremely debilitating and incurable, chronic illnesses and a whole host of associated conditions and illnesses. He's still extremely allergic to most food. He's still on a severely restricted diet, meaning he has virtually the same meal every mealtime, often liquidised to make sure it stays down. He still has adhd, ptsd and chronic depression. He still has brain 'fogs'. He has brain damage, nerve damage, damage to his bones, joints and internal organs and is in near constant pain, which is frequently chronic! Although things have improved from the times where he was bedridden for almost 7 years, he's still incredibly ill. His health problems are not in the past. They're not something he WENT through. They're something Ren's still going through and, unless cures are found, are something that he'll be going through for the rest of his life. The Mast Cell Disease is particularly worrying, as it's progress can't be arrested. It can only be slowed. We need to remember that when we 'see' Ren, we're seeing him on one of his "good" days.
This song hit me hard. I was listening to it for the first time with my 16 year old. They didn't make it through the intro before they started crying. It was a year ago that day that my child was rushed to the ICU & we found out they had the same cancer I am in remission from. Ren's music has been something of a haven after the past year we've had. When the song Hi Ren started getting played all over UA-cam our house had just been hit by a tornado while we were inside it, & I can't emphasize how much it helped. I still can't listen to the end of that song without crying, & I'm willing to bet it'll be the same with this one.
On the Knox interview Ren said this song was only supposed to be 90 seconds long as an intro… but he kept adding more and more and this is easily my fav song at the moment on the album. I usually bump the new songs and then listen to the rest of the album that I’ve already heard.
From pain makes growth, unless the pain is unrelenting. I am very glad that Ren is getting better. I do get some relief just listening to Ren. After 5 failed spine surgeries, then a virus that hit my spinal cord, kidney issues causing cysts and stones. No hope offered. I am old but not so old I will die soon, so pain medication is never enough. Like so many Ren followers, I am caught into a propetual, unrelenting hell. The hardest part is that my husband passed from cancer almost 3 years ago. So I am alone in my life, in my pain and in my mind. I understand Ren on a level most do not. Thank you, BP, for your Ren breakdowns. Always good. ❤❤
Sue, you are NOT alone in yr pain. I have a connective tissue disorder that causes intense pain, dislocations, etc...plus depression, autism spectrum disorder... And am currently trying to ease my ex-wife's battle with cancer (stage IV metastatic breast cancer, in just 1 month most growths doubled, plus migrated to masses on ovary, lymph node, & pineal gland in the brain). This is the person with whom I wanted so badly to enjoy the rest of my life, but our marriage couldn't survive what turned out to be the psychological effects of her illness (all while dealing with my own illness). Why can't I take her cancer for her. This song and MANY of Ren's songs are a start. I don't know what to do... just know I am so angry at God. Thought we were never supposed to be given more than we can overcome. I am drowning (remember Sick Boi) in pain, regret, anger, sorrow, depression, failure... Sure as hell not drowning in hope. But I do hope you can somehow get on top of your pain/issues. You certainly aren't alone in the larger sense, but I know this is true of myself; doesn't mean I feel AT ALL supported in the moment. You missed the bar..Tears from Heaven like Clapton...Eric Clapton, a singer/guitarist since the '70's. He has a song called Tears from Heaven, Ren is a MASTER! He draws from all genres! He has so much knowledge in music, and being a human being. I am always blown away by what he does.
When I listen to Uninvited, I keep thinking it is Ren doing a humorous take on a boy band song with naughty bits in it. The part at the end with talk to his girl ending with a “shhhh” makes me laugh.
This is my favourite song on the album. So relatable for me, personally and the beats and flows are incredible. Jointdale's remix is absolute fire too. I never clued in to the seven sins/seven days of the week thing either until I heard this song! Thanks for reacting to these two tracks ❤❤

Sick boi as an album as a whole immediately breaks into the top 100 albums of all time. Rens message is so current and relevant in todays society. We all need to do better. First of all, I love your reactions and think you are a beautiful human being, even when we don't agree❤ On the subject of religion, obviously I'm not Ren and I don't know him so I could be wrong, I don't think he lost his faith when he got sick. I don't think he was ever religious, he has declared himself as agnostic many times and also his parents were/are agnostic. He has mentioned his school was religious and he likes the stories and people's interpretation of them. I think, and this is just my interpretation, that he uses religion as a metaphore for the health system and that is what he lost faith in. As I say, I could be completely wrong. ❤

You missed the bar..Tears from Heaven like Clapton...Eric Clapton, a singer/guitarist since the '70's. He has a song called Tears from Heaven, Ren is a MASTER! He draws from all genres! He has so much knowledge in music, and being a human being. I am always blown away by what he does.

Uninvited is also a very good song. Probably the most commercial sounding song of them all.
I personally love Wicked Ways (well the whole album tbh), that's my fav of the ones we hadn't heard before the album. Love the rapping on it :)
When I listen to Uninvited, I keep thinking it is Ren doing a humorous take on a boy band song with naughty bits in it. The part at the end with talk to his girl ending with a “shhhh” makes me laugh.

This is the song he wrote recently specifically to open the album. Whereas the rest, other then MG3, was all written a couple years ago. I feel like it’s kind of a tie in for what’s to come.

On the subject of religion, obviously I'm not Ren and I don't know him so I could be wrong, I don't think he lost his faith when he got sick. I don't think he was ever religious, he has declared himself as agnostic many times and also his parents were/are agnostic. He has mentioned his school was religious and he likes the stories and people's interpretation of them.
I think, and this is just my interpretation, that he uses religion as a metaphore for the health system and that is what he lost faith in. As I say, I could be completely wrong. ❤

Interesting, you mentioned 1 sin per day in your comment and wondered where Ren got it from and were trying to tie this into the gods creation of earth in 7 days and corrected yourself saying that the 7th day he rested... the 7th cardinal sin is sloth. That checks out. I am not into the scripts, but this points out how much of a genius Ren is.
