Remember Daniel Carlson. Frustrating first year, but once things get going, lights out. Stick through the tuff times and there will be a gem in the making.
I was shocked they let him go. Like, there's NO possibility we'd need him again? None? Just let him head off into the sunset with a pat on the back and "thanks for a good job."? Not good. :(
My girl and kids were so upset when they cut romo and now they hate will reichard 😂 every time he goes to kick they say “noooo he’s gonna miss” …… so when he does miss I blame them for the bad energy 😂 go sign Parker romo you cowards
Romo’s kicking was solid. Brining Reichard back too soon was THE biggest mistake our decision makers have made this season. Mark my words this will cost us the season whether we win this week or not. It will come back to bite us at some point in the playoffs. I’ve seen this movie too many times as a Vikes fan.
The missed kicks are concerning, but I was irritated by the kick off that went OB just before half. Basically gifted the Lions 3 points with that gaff. He's a technician and I think he'll figure it out, but I'm not sure if it will be sooner or later.
That was the harbinger of doom for me. Bad enough we couldn't finish drives in the end zone, but there's no excuse for booting it out of bounds under these new kickoff rules. That was the first wheel flying off the bus.
Exactly! Realistically speaking, he just wasn't gonna be Mr. Perfect all season long, even excluding the injury on that Colts game. He's still got a lot of potential with his kicking carreer in the NFL that only time will tell how great he'll preform.
He is still a rookie and had an injury, I don't think it's time to panic yet. But I wouldn't be against bringing in some guys to compete for the job next year.
Someone has to be held accountable for cutting Romo before we knew if Will was ready and back to normal. Who cares about next year when the playoffs are now and will potentially cost us the season?
Think about all the missed extra points and kicks we lived thru with Greg Joseph. Now we have expectations of perfection? Kickers will go through this at some point. Just let him work thru it
Can tell his injury is still bothering him. He kicked for Sabin. Arguably one of best kickers in last few years. Majority of the bama games carried more weight than his nfl games. He’ll get it figured out. I am worried further into this season though, but beyond I’m not.
i think a lot of fans are suffering from PTSD right now. I think Will Reichard will be one of the best kickers the vikings have ever had. I'm not concerned at all!
Kicking is the most mental part of football. Same as goaltending in hockey. It’s stupid simple, unless you think about it. Dwelling is just about the worst thing you can do.
I watched a great video the other day about kickers who blew a game-changing kick and what happened to their careers afterward. Tldr: All but one didn't last another full year in the NFL, and they never came close to their previous percentages. Blowing a major kick wrecks kickers' mindsets. To the point a lot of them can't recover and it devastates their career.
A few years ago Harrison Butker had a leg injury and when he came back he had a rough patch, the problem was he had to learn a new kicking motion to compensate for what the injury had done. Perhaps Reichard will need to do this same thing? The short term outlook probably isn't good if this is true, but Butker came back better than before the injury.
Even the best ones have some tough stretches, kicking is really hard, the level of precision you have to have is off the charts. He's an artist man, let him paint and do his thing, he'll get back to cranking out masterpieces.
That whole game was jinxed. Sam couldn't throw. Nobody could catch, including Gink on what could have been a tide-shifting INT. Will shanked two and had the kick out of bounds. The defense held up until the back half of the 4th, but by then the rest of the team had collapsed too much for it to matter. They couldn't do anything on offense, defense, or special teams to get it going. They did not look like the same team.
It’s crazy, even with his issues right now I’d still redraft him! I’d still put him as my starter but I sure hope he’s not lingering an injury and not saying anything!
So apparently Tomo put a post out looking for help The vikings had Fed Exed him Helmet, cleats, football and jerseys and it never arrived to his house..Re sign him as a backup he made 11-12 fgs
Wouldn’t wanna be at one of your grill outs….to negative and one would probably choke on the dried out brisket flat. I have more trust in the Vikings than your brisket.
Let's remember that both Will Reichard AND Andrew dePaolo missed quite a few games. It may be that the 3 guys responsible for every FG kick need to re-establish the consistent timing & chemistry we all saw earlier in the season. Yes, it's not fun for the organization & fans to have this uncertaintly going into the first playoff game, but it is what it is, and we'll just have to trust Matt Daniels, KOC, and the 3 members of the FG team!
Give the kid a break let him kick in the playoffs. Let’s remember he has been a nail driver so give him a chance to show what he is known for big time kicks and big time games. Remember what happened with our last rookie kicker
Remember when he was kicking 100% and you said you want him to miss one before the playoffs just so he can get one out of the way? Bet you retract that statement
He is the all time leading scorer in NCAA football history for a reason. Of course it wouldn’t hurt to bring competition, but it takes time for players to adjust to the NFL. Yes, even kickers need time. I still believe in him.
Not going to matter at all if they do not fix Darnald first. Fix Darnald, then fix the kicker. Darnald creates negative momentum it affects the entire team, creating a losing mentality.
gotta stick with him for awhile; we can't forget the Daniel Carlson lesson. The kid has the talent, maybe this is just injury related still and he'll eventually recover. I sure hope so.
Even though the quad injury is "healed," I think it's still bothering him. When I pull a quad, I'm fine after a week. That's because I'm just going to be walking on it, not trying to kick a football sixty yards, which requires an extreme contraction of that muscle. You bet it's still bothering him, and he should continue getting massages and heat treatments on that muscle. Vikes might consider another temporary kicker, but under no circumstances should they pull another Dan Carlson. That was embarrassing. Reichart is going to be a great kicker. Patience!
The Vikings finally have a good chance to make it to the Super Bowl, I don't understand why they would jeopardize that by continuing with this kicker. If the coach is worried about his feelings how do you think he's going to feel if he misses the game winning field goal (Which is most likely to happen) that would have advanced the Vikings to the Super Bowl, he's going to be crushed for a long time. How's the coach going to feel about that?
Stick with him until mid next season. If he's still struggling let him go. We need to let these kickers work it out because the kicking culture here is thin as fuck. If you miss more than once you're immediately looking to be replaced and it makes them spiral.
It’s in his head at this point. Until I hear he is injured still then there is no other way to paint it. I hear people saying they should have kept romo and yea that’s easy to say in hindsight. Truth is your definitely not keeping two kickers on the 53 man roster.
That kick out of bounds probably wasn't totally his fault...he was probably told to kick in that direction to try to keep them inside the 20 and it went off course a bit
I think he’s still injured. His accuracy has been worrying and he had a short kickoff against the packers…it didn’t make the target zone. But just go play…..keep the score beyond one kick.
There is no such thing as a perfect kicker in the nfl. Every single one has their yips at times. I understand frustration but every one will miss some. Overreaction I feel.
Remember Daniel Carlson. Frustrating first year, but once things get going, lights out. Stick through the tuff times and there will be a gem in the making.
Exactly. Let us not lose patience with a great young kicker, then lose his services for the next twenty years.
Good point that was a prime example of why zimmer should never be around a young player, Carlson could have been our kicker.
He hasnt been the same since the injury...Vikings should of kept Romo as a back up
If fishes were wild
I was shocked they let him go. Like, there's NO possibility we'd need him again? None? Just let him head off into the sunset with a pat on the back and "thanks for a good job."? Not good. :(

@@Jason-vn5xj Totally agree, that really did it for me. WTF!
He’s still hurt. Clearly.
I still think we need to cut him a little slack. He's a rookie, fresh out of college, and still new to his job.
Exactly! Realistically speaking, he just wasn't gonna be Mr. Perfect all season long, even excluding the injury on that Colts game. He's still got a lot of potential with his kicking carreer in the NFL that only time will tell how great he'll preform.
He’s the leading scorer in NCAA football history. He’ll be fine
He is still a rookie and had an injury, I don't think it's time to panic yet. But I wouldn't be against bringing in some guys to compete for the job next year.

Nailed it. Idk why they brought him back so soon when the other guy was doing just fine. Hes obviously not ready
i think a lot of fans are suffering from PTSD right now. I think Will Reichard will be one of the best kickers the vikings have ever had. I'm not concerned at all!
Will is going to be fine. Players just have bad days at times.
Kicking is the most mental part of football. Same as goaltending in hockey. It’s stupid simple, unless you think about it. Dwelling is just about the worst thing you can do.
I'd add golf to this as well. As soon as you start thinking about it, the snowballing starts
@ Hell, bowling too. I throw much better when I don’t think about where I want to throw.
No choice but to dwell when you only have a handful chances a game at best.
I watched a great video the other day about kickers who blew a game-changing kick and what happened to their careers afterward. Tldr: All but one didn't last another full year in the NFL, and they never came close to their previous percentages. Blowing a major kick wrecks kickers' mindsets. He'll be fine, he just wanted to make sure to get all his bad kicks out before the playoffs started.
Keep scoring touchdowns and keep field goals out of it! The BEST kicker in all of football is the one you don't ever need.
Will is fine leave the poor kid alone.
Even the best ones have some tough stretches, kicking is really hard, the level of precision you have to have is off the charts. He's an artist man, let him paint and do his thing, he'll get back to cranking out masterpieces.
Back when Blair Walsh was actually good I got his autograph. Now its cursed my life
LET THE GUY kICK. He is fine!
Dude this issue has been happening since the colts game
@duckwish301 he was injured and has to kick more. The kid is fine. Let him kick.
That whole game was jinxed. Sam couldn't throw. Nobody could catch, including Gink on what could have been a tide-shifting INT. Will shanked two and had the kick out of bounds. They couldn't do anything on offense, defense, or special teams to get it going. They did not look like the same team.
Just bring back romo, problem solved!
Could part be the pressure brought to him by special teams, or could it be the holder? Not sure, but I gave the faith
It’s crazy, even with his issues right now I’d still redraft him! I’d still put him as my starter but I sure hope he’s not lingering an injury and not saying anything!

49 years watching Vikes. Trust me, the choke is on.
It's tradition at this point
Wouldn’t wanna be at one of your grill outs….to negative and one would probably choke on the dried out brisket flat. I have more trust in the Vikings than your brisket.
@@bradhagen5060 My brisket does not trust the Viking, either. BTW, we have a dress code at my cook outs. Sorry
@ 🙂
48 years watching Vikings agree!
Love that you know that BB King song and I hope willy the kid comes back to form
His field goal percentage was higher than Sam the Sham's pass completion percentage.
My guess is,he found out it's RIGGED
Could the Thrill wearing the #14 Classic Vikings jersey be a homage to Vikings legend, Fred Cox?
Is it still possible to bring Romo back this season? We NEED him.
Let's remember that both Will Reichard AND Andrew dePaolo missed quite a few games. for me it comes down to his form he tend to push it towards the posts and make it more close than needed. his contact on the ball seems off
The leg has got to still be bugging him…. Right?
RIGHT?!
I have faith in him and am pumped for the Kid. He is the best thing we've had in a long time
I don’t think he is fully healthy. Don’t do a Daniel Carlson.
Love the bb king reference
We have faith in Romo he showed confidence This guy you can tell he's not in his right mind most likely he still injured
Remember when he was kicking 100% and you said you want him to miss one before the playoffs just so he can get one out of the way? Bet you retract that statement
They should have started Romo and then let will heal till next year
How many points is the kick worth?
Sometimes 1, sometimes 3 😆
With the lack of playing a full game all season, we're worried about the damn kicker.
Bottom line is if he lines up for a last second kick to win ,,are we going to believe in him
He came up short on a 57 yarder. That was stunning. Maybe it's as simple as, he's still hurt?
He is the all time leading scorer in NCAA football history for a reason. Of course it wouldn’t hurt to bring competition, but it takes time for players to adjust to the NFL. Yes, even kickers need time. I still believe in him.
That was a good thing that you picked out

Back when Darnold had his jags game, I joked that o’Connell put him in intense training with a Russian conditioner. Reichard needs yuri now
Plenty of time to redeem himself.

It’s time to bring back Romo. I loved Romo when he was here.
Is it a kicking issue or a holding issue? Didn’t Minnesota just work out two punters after week 17?
How could Will be more rattled than kicking for Sabin.
Hope I'm wrong but got a bad feeling about the Rams. Been a Vikes fan since the 60's. I've been programed to think like this.
He will have the offseason to heal. Let’s give. Him another season to prove himself worthy of being a millionaire kicker.
Stick with him until mid next season. If he's still struggling let him go. We need to let these kickers work it out because the kicking culture here is thin as fuck. If you miss more than once you're immediately looking to be replaced and it makes them spiral.
He’s not HEALTHY. They brought him back too early

agree on mistake not to keep romo as a backup...
Bring back Romo
It seems like we should have a word for 1000 lbs sir.
This is just par for the course in Minnesota. If he was drafted by any other team, he'd be and All-Pro. But now he's cursed.
I think he’s still injured. His accuracy has been worrying and he had a short kickoff against the packers…it didn’t make the target zone.
But just go play…..keep the score beyond one kick.
Maybe should have kept that other dude who was on 💥
I'm Janet Jackson, "what have you done for me lately?"
I'm not concerned. It's his first year. Like every player in the league, he needs experience.
i bought his jersey at the wrong time
he missed one long kick for christ sakes

It is excise demons, not exercise the demons!
I think he meant “exorcise”.
Chris Kluwe curse hitting hard...😒
Probably still hurt / injured...
He makes the saddest faces after his misses a kick. Like a 6 year old boy
He is still injured, should have stayed on IR till next year.
They should have retained John Parker Romo while Will Reichard mends up.
Have faith he is young! He will be great for the Vikes! SKOL
bring cousins as a kicker. He needs a job
He looks like he kicks... awkward and nervous.
Just a tweak, right?
lol…the thrill is gone…luh dat. Here is my thang, you got a lingering quad issue then why you active? But this missing kick thing? Stop it, get help.
Bring back Walsh,lol.
