Real Life Muso Masterclass! Bach G8 Piano Performance, Kids Discussion + Feedback ft. Lawrence Ng

Piece: Prelude and Fugue BWV854 (Grade 8 AMEB) by Bach
Muso Student: Yi An Liu
Yi An recently passed A+ in his Grade 8 AMEB Piano exam. Officially a diploma student woo! Congratulations! We are so proud of you.
In our Muso combined piano classes, our senior students (grade 8 and above) were put into 3 groups.
Each performance had 3 parts:
1. Performance
2. Muso Students’ review + constructive feedback (positive language is taught)
3. Masterclass feedback by Muso Director
Scores of the piece were given to each group. After each performance, a pair from each group had to pretend to be “piano teachers or examiners” and provide feedback for the performance.
This included:
-Marks out of 100
-Good points
-Things to work on
In summary, Yi An did very well but some obvious factors to improve include:
-over accents
-overshaping
-overpedal
-clearer melodies in Fugue
Muso Director Lawrence Ng gave a bit of “masterclass” workshop to Yi An, ways to improve the above factors.
