Lmao absolutely not, so you're going to tell me that Gilgamesh who was sucking the souls out of dusty orphans for mana is the same as a full spirit Gilgamesh who had a trained magus as a master? Anyone who has read the VN should know that the Ea he utilizes in FSN is waves below the one used in Zero lol he was most definitely weaker never spout nonsense again please.
Well... technically Tokiomi was only average as a Magus, and even Rin had more 'potential' than he did. Even Zelretch considered the Tohsaka line to be mediocre. One half decent magus versus dozens of full time mana battery humans... its hard to say exactly how much mana Gil had on hand.... but it's largely an irrelevant point. Even if we assume Gil had the same amount of mana as he did in Zero... he would NEVER consider using Ea on Shirou directly, under normal circumstances. So the morality play still goes off like it did... with Gil being too arrogant to use his weapon the way he used it in Zero.
But I mean In SE eyes and how he was raised by his father it does make sence, his father was exact opposite of him but still sometimes can not forget how stupid he sounds when he is talking like “People die when they get killed” someone made fun of him in UBW reference in Food wars “People get hungry If they dont eat” I really want to see Waver as one of the masters in future.
because most of the time, if some servant has his name spread to other masters, they have information on how to defeat the servant because they know how the servant dies or something like that, which means you know their weakness. this excludes gilgamesh though cus he can just sword spam and win if hes serious.
@@matthewwu971 well, Shirou changed his body with magic (eyes at least). Looks like this small guy's complexes really pushed him hard to learn something similiar XD
+dividebyzero817 Of course, but I think UBW's theme of heroism is an appropriate response to Kiritsugu's struggles with his ideal in Zero and prior. Archer saw the same flaw in the hero of justice as Kiritsugu did. Shirou sees the hell he would eventually walk into, but still chooses to fulfill the initial wish of saving someone. Unlike his predecessors, Shirou is absolutely determined to save everyone and not to sacrifice one for the many. Even Rin's decision to wade through the Grail to save Shinji, seems to be a crystallization of this resolve. The fact that Waver appears and reaffirms Shirou's path just seals it for me.
Colonel Sanders HF's approach to it seems just as valid tbh, and Shirou chooses a path unlike his predecessors in all of the three routes. UBW was just one of them, and it was set in between the brighter Fate route and the darker Heaven's Feel route. Shirou responds in character based on the situation presented to him in all three wildly differing routes. In a way, the Sakura route freed him from the burden of an ideal and left him to pursue a normal life that could be just as satisfying as pursuing a life of ideals, if not more so. I suppose it appeals to the more cynical side of myself, but wasn't the ideal also followed for the sake of Shirou's self interest? It's not like Shirou becomes a self righteous asshole either since he still cares about his loved ones, and the theme of family being important is explored through the Sakura/Rin and the Shirou/Illya relationship, both of which weren't present in UBW and with the theme in general having chronologically begun with Kiritsugu's devotion towards his own family. Waver kind of just repeated an idea that was in the original epilogue of the VN, though I prefer the VN with the line of "He is not strong. He is not strong at all. He fights risking his life, looking ugly and miserable. But... Who in the world can laugh at him?" from Archer's PoV over "That certainly is idiotic. But it is not humorous" by Waver.
While the above comment is probably a troll... I'll say it anyway. No one route is 'true' in the fate-verse... Nasu doesn't like the concept. But Ufotable did approach UBW from the angle of being a sequel to Zero. Thematically it fits well... Since Archer here is basically Kiritsugu 2.0 if you break down his story. SO its essentially Shirou overcoming the hurdles that stopped both his father and his alternate future self. It also neatly wraps up Sabers story, since Archer's/Shirou's story has parallels to hers. The only thing this anime doesn't really touch is the whole Zouken storyline from HF.
Yeah it's beautiful because each route is viable as "sequels" to Zero. - Fate's transformation of Saber from a cold hard king to an intimate human loving one, is most definitely a response to her hatred for Kiritsugu and the regrets with Lancelot and her past. She finally understands and accepts everything. - UBW's exploration of heroism is a response to Kiritsugu's lost dream. What if the torch was passed to one whose idea of heroism is more naive and optimistic? Archer shows where it all ends, but Shirou's reminding of where it began is what further fortifies the dream, and both men are able to walk proud in the end. - HF responds to the lost case of young Sakura. Kariya may have failed, but there comes another who loves and protects her even more fiercely. In a way, this could even be considered a response to Kiritsugu, being a hero doesn't mean you try to save everyone, you simply give everything to protect the ones around you. The only reason I said UBW is the most fitting is because Zero was primarily Kiritsugu's story. Yes we had the beginning of Sakura's despair, and Saber's desire, but remember that the series is mostly Kiritsugu getting the job done by mocking those very things, Diarmuid's honor is one strong example. Even the ending of Zero is the impactful silent death of Kiritsugu as he recalls the time of declaring his dream. The end of UBW with Velvet almost seems like a rhyming response. But then again, Zero WAS written after FSN, so whether Ufotable or I call one route more fitting or not, are just unofficial interpretations. Obviously Type-Moon means to give us that freedom rather than outright set things in stone.
I also wasn’t aware originally, but I hadn’t watched Zero when I had watched UBW xD (managed to watch both Apocrypha and UBW before deciding to watch Zero and things clicked into place heh)
From one of the interviews with Nasu-Kinoko, he said even after Waver found out Shirou has defeated Gilgamesh, Waver wouldn't really show much of any reaction to it. Waver is the most legendary character in Fate, and dare I say best one. He is just everything I like in an anime character, his ideals, his relationship with Iskandar(again dare I say but I think it's the best master-servant duo in Fate, they just have so much chemistry and without them Fate/Zero would be so much worse.), his personality and backstory too. @@arnavdass4695 er, no? Shirou at the end of UBW is an exceptionally powerful Magus in his own right. Other then Kerry and kirei, shirou stomps every other master.
MAN, do I want an animated series about "Lord El-Melloi II Case Files" after watching this scene! It would be so awesome seeing the adventures and investigations of grown up Waver! ^_^
Its here that I noticed the parallels between Shirou's and Waver's Command Seals. Both have a arrow/spear head theme but Waver's has spread its wings while Shirou's are still closed. Of course. There's the other detail being that Waver's tie during Fate/Zero just so happened to be in the color and pattern of Avalon. Which is another parallel, considering how Gray is effectively Waver's Servant throughout Case Files and Shirou is still carrying Avalon in his body.
I have always wondered, does someone actually talk like that? In the hallway, with the back to each other? And what if one of them decides to to just leave, wouldnt it be super awkward?
Now I want to spark up a conversation with you like this one, then tip toe away as you start to monologue and find yourself abandoned on what might have been a good point
everyone here is talking about how if only waver knew that shirou killed gilgamesh, but i want to see waver's face is he found out shirou is the son of the man who killed waver's mentor, especially after finding out waver hated but deeply respected his mentor after watching lord el-melloi
Theres no way someone as smart as Waver doesn't recognize the surname Emiya. Given that Waver gets involved with Tohsaka (and by extension Shirou) later on to dismantle the Greater Grail, it's a fair sure bet he knows who Shirou's father is.
@@Manima108 He's a teacher and one of the Clock Tower's top mages despite having the shittiest magic circuits out of all them He studies and grinds, that's Waver's singular trait
Waver's dialogue at the end about Shirou being "idiotic" was probably a poor translation. What was said in the VN (forgot which part) was closer to "It is certainly foolish, but definitely not to be taken lightly" (pertainingto Shirou's ideals.)
actually Shirou suppose to be 5 stars Muramasa merged with Shirou, like Zhuge Liang and Waver the 4 stars version is EMIYA (all letter in Capital) "Nameless Servant"
@@badendersgame Yes DW never say Muramasa is 5 stars But Waver, Rin, Sakura are 5 stars Maybe they will make Shirou a 5 stars servant too Since he's also the Main Character of FSN
Rewatching this after watching the Lord El-Melloi II Case Files, i think Waver was trying to see if shirou was the same as him, someone with not much magic potnetial and someone who didnt know what he was doing during the holy grail war, like him (poor bby has so little self confidence)
Talking with your Lecturer casually, back to back, than leave away with style even before your Lecturer let you leave ... Damn, College live in England is so damn cool ...
When unlimited blade works started, I already thought they needed this guy to show up as a cameo otherwise it was a missed opportunity. When I saw them head to this school, I knew they were going to do it. It was a great scene. I didn’t expect him to look this old but I guess I knew it was him straight away anyways because of how he showed up.
When I saw that scene I started crying and I don't know why😅. I've seen Zero first so I recognized him and when I heard him say "baka" I screamed a little 😅. I had missed my *favourite character* 😂😭❤
Some guy who barely knows any magic (and is a pretty big idiot) somehow defeats the strongest servant in the grail war. "Nothing to do with plot armor" K
@@ShiroKage-h8v It's a different person in deed, but the Zhuge Liang you're talking about in FGO is actually a Pseudo-servant using Waver's body and personality, so it's just Waver with Zhuge Liang's power
Waver: So what class was your servant? Shirou: Saber, King Arthur, Oh you must've met her because she said she also participated in the last- wait, Lord, why are you sweating? Grey: He nearly got Excalibur'd Shirou: How is he not sweating everytime he sees you Grey: That's what this hood is for
Strange, they both stood face to face Gilgamesh, one was being spared for life, another one is taken his life. Only Shiro could show you his back not you bruh...
Waver mocking Shirou's magecraft not knowing that who's he talking too basically has all the combat experience Archer Emiya has just without the magic circuits to fully utilize it.
He can only do basic magecraft. His tracing and projection come from his reality marble, which comes from his ideals and his origin being "sword" due to Avalon
Waver has plenty of experience dealing with redheads who have stupid dreams.

MAN, do I want an animated series about "Lord El-Melloi II Case Files" after watching this scene! It would be so awesome seeing the adventures and investigations of grown up Waver! ^_^
currently reading it lol
GO! Go! Zeppeli! Wait is there an english translation of it???
Yes, there's a translation on Beast Lair's forum. They're almost through Volume 2 I think.
Konati Konoe what i though it only chap 1 or 2.
Man I love case files
i still can't believe waver has same VA in the fate zero and here like how the fuck he changes his voice like that
まさかここでウェイバー出てくるとは思ってなかった……

damn right
INDAREVISH what anime is this
its literally in the title

Anime
Its probably a feudal Japan thing.
Well, you'll at least hear the footsteps if they do.
Waver: Why are you here then?
Shirou: *just leaves*
Waver: Hello!? Are you there?
*footsteps*
Waver: Dammit...

Waver's dialogue at the end about Shirou being "idiotic" was probably a poor translation. What was said in the VN (forgot which part) was closer to "It is certainly foolish, but definitely not to be taken lightly" (pertainingto Shirou's ideals.)
That fits a _lot_ better, actually. Thanks for that.
I think this translation is pretty good because of Archer called Rider´s dream idiotic too. In a way, he is respecting his dream.
They never met in the VN.
its dumb but its not something to laugh at is how I would interpet his words 😂😂😂

I only understand this cameo after I got Lord El Malloi to ascension stage 3 in FGO.
I can only Imagine your surprise when this guy turned into the brat from Zero
When unlimited blade works started, I already thought they needed this guy to show up as a cameo otherwise it was a missed opportunity. When I saw them head to this school, I knew they were going to do it. It was a great scene. I didn’t expect him to look this old but I guess I knew it was him straight away anyways because of how he showed up.
If only Shirou see gray....
Shirou: "And... I've avenged your King"
Waver: So I heard you beat that Gold Servant.

Waver has the best character development in fate series and el melloi. Can't change my mind.
I just want Waver to meet Shirou again and tell him that he's putting together a team.
Waver: So what class was your servant?
Shirou: Saber, King Arthur, Oh you must've met her because she said she also participated in the last- wait, Lord, why are you sweating?
Grey: He nearly got Excalibur'd
Shirou: How is he not sweating everytime he sees you
Grey: That's what this hood is for
Soon it'll be Shirou's turn to have a cameo in Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files.
Maybe the last episode, do see it coming though
And then shirou will steal the show like Prisma illya XD

Waver mocking Shirou's magecraft not knowing that who's he talking too basically has all the combat experience Archer Emiya has just without the magic circuits to fully utilize it.
If Shirou can only use Projection and Strengthening magecraft, yes he's a sh*tter mage than Waver.
He can only do basic magecraft. His tracing and projection come from his reality marble, which comes from his ideals and his origin being "sword" due to Avalon
He wasn't shit talking him tho...
