- The weather outside was amazing, the weather under the water however.. not so much. I hit another, more southern inlet before heading to Manasquan. The water there was like pea soup. When I pulled in Manasquan wasn't look too good either. The waves in the inlet were crashing over the seawall at mid tide which is never a good sign. Before pulling out the rod and calling it a day I decided to walk over to an area I knew would be calm and toss in a broken seashell. If you can see it for more than 5 or 6 seconds it's normally ok to get in. I was getting around 8 seconds so I decided to give it a go. On the top the visibility was terrible but once you got down past 10 feet it was good enough to see fish (but still not great.) I ended up seeing more fish on this day than I've ever seen in this inlet. 30+ fluke, hundreds of tautog, sea bass, peanut bunker and the biggest stingray I've ever seen, followed by the 2nd biggest ray I'd ever seen.. After a few misses and an escapee I cashed out with a tog and nice fluke just as the water was starting to slack. The fluke made it to the dinner table that night, in a francaise recipe. It's hands down my favorite way to prepare this fish. Truly a day to remember under the waves in New Jersey.

Blackfish is some of the tastiest i've ever had. Yum.
That's so cool, I had no idea anyone even thought about spear fishing in New Jersey. Really cool video
Wayyyyy too many people spearfish in New Jersey
@@christophersmith5485really that's freaking cool
@@christophersmith5485it’s not that way too many people spearfish, it’s that way too many people spearfish the same spots. Water clarity and accessibility is hard to come by in NJ especially without a boat.
Back in the 80s that fence was actually chain link! The Halloweenstorm of 1990 wiped alot of it out!
just a random dead dogfish at 5:47 lol
@@jely3D I saw 3 of them like that, they were big too. I looked in ones mouth and didn’t see a hook in the belly, so not sure how they died.
You are shooting tog less than 15 in!
