Thanks so much for the wonderful update Fish man we are thinking of using a Lilly in one of our new projects. Thanks for the inspiration and yes, Danios are one of our absolute favorite and always have been….. when I was very little and tried to mix fish with turtles I learned right away that Dan’s were one of the few fish. The turtles would never be able to catch. Even the giant Danios in a huge tank in large groups would never get eaten …. But later we learned if you just raised turtles from babies and feed them well they won’t eat any fish, but you know little kids, grabbing turtles from the creek and stuff. It was all just experimentation at that point lol.
Dear Eric: Although I like the idea of fauna being secondary to the plants, in an aquascape; and going with drab species like zebra or leopard danios; I’m leaning towards colorful, nano-fish and shrimp. I purchased leopard danios, for my, 75-gallon, a few years ago. Three are still doing well. But, in the community tank, reproduction is not possible. You are living my zebra danio dream! I have plans for a 20 long after I move out a bunch of Corydoras fry. Now I know not to grow my usual jungle thanks to your video.
Could you take note of the tank with a heater and compar it to one without for evaporation. I've mentioned before I'm getting too much evaporation when running on air with a intank heater at this time of year the heater is working overtime as the room temperature often drops below the set temperature of the tank. This tank is a 4ft Juwel that I converted to led and re-perposed the compartment for the tube light electrics as a filter running on a pump running air pumps out humid air speeding up evaporation and feeding the air pump air straight from the tank can't be a good idea but I'm thinking can a condenser of some sort let that work
Hey Colin! The higher the differential in temperature between the tank water and the air the greater the evaporation. Also, the relative humidity of the air comes into it. The drier the air the more water it can take from the tank
