    Very very educative. If possible please upload one practical vedio basing on the energy bill one of one industry where power factor is in between 0.5 to o.8 & how that is improved to 0.99 after installation of apfc panel & avoided paying for low p.f penalty. Rather got incentive for good p.f.

    Hello Sir, very informative video, thanks. One question, while dividing fixed capacitors in two sections, one for CB (50 KVAR + 50KVAR) & other for (25 KVAR), can we not take one CB for one 125 KVAR capacitor connection, as 250AMP MCCB?

    Nicely explained..can you tells how you decide the size of variable capacitor bank to fulfill the demand of. 375kvar....means example you can take all 25kvar bank to fulfill but selected in combination of 50 & 25...

      2nd que is that.. CDC you used for variable capacitor is capacitor duty contactor or only a simple contactor?? because as per my information both are different.

    very nice explanation ,but a simple doubt is that for the ACB rating selection for transformer we multiply 1.4with transformer's kva rating,but what is 1.4,is it√3?, & where is the power factor corrector equipment,& how does capacitors operate automatically (on & off) when inductive loads are increase & decrease ,plz plz plz reply brother

      Kw*1.4 ≈max. Current
      It is thumb rule.
      And apfc relay compares actual pf and targeted power factor and calculates how much KVAR will be needed and sends signal to cdc contactor and that contactor when gets supply that capacitor gets connected to bus and improves pf

      Here 1.732 is square root of 3
      there for, 1kVA The Load current will be 1391.25/1000=1.39125 this value is approximated as 1.4

    It's helpful video...we also can find required KVAR through below equation,
    Capacitor reactive power Qc = P * ( tanφ1 - tanφ2)
    P is actual power (demand load) is in KW (it can calculate from load summary)
    φ1 = Initial or actual p.f. (Value can obtain from supply company bill or can consider 0.75)
    φ2 = Target p.f. ( To be decided by customer or can consider 0.95)
    Pl. provide some information about heavy duty capacitors bank with 7% series reactor for detuned filters...and why generally we used TP ( 3 Pole) mccb for APFC incomer?

      IT IS 0.421 THIS VALUE IS OBTAINED FROM CALCULATING CORRECTION FACTOR FOR IMPROVING PF 0.8 TO PF .95

    in capacitor bank inductor also use between contactor and capacitor bank in many industry so please tell the selection of inductor.

      It used to save the capacitor as capacitor will act as short circuit at the time of switching and draw very high current.
      Inductor will limit this current.

    Please specify following in the video:-
    1) the 2000 Amp switch after transformer is remote incomer for main panel just after transformer.
    2) The first 1000 Amp switch is the O/G of APFC panel
    3) The second 1000 Amp switch is I/C of APFC panel.
    4) The fixed capacitors may also be connected by contractors.

      One KVA is 1000 VA
      So current shall be 1000/1.73*415= 1.39
      So 1 kVA =1.4 Amp

      You have to consider voltage fluctuations factor 1.3 and fluctuations due to tolrence in in Capacitor 1.5
      So 1.3x1.5x1.4= 2.18
      Say approx 2

      If pf is considered 0.8 then sin phi shall be 0.6
      Maximum
      KVAR for Compensation 200x746x0.6=89.52
      Then we have to take 80% of this as the motor p. f will not be always same.
      It depends on load and RPM too.So we shall take 71 KVAR capacitor bank fr 200 HP motor.

      It is assumed the maximum kvar to be compensated as pf of transformer depend on load. This is included the kvar due to transformer internal magnetic losses

      Cdc selection is done based on capacitor value. For example we are using a 50 kvar capaitor then we can use same value 50amp cdc . FOR circuit breaker we have to double the value 50 kvar × 2 so 100 amp mccb is selected as 1 kvar = 2A.

    phase, neutral and earth wire should be of same size for single phase loads. Current for three phase load can be taken as 2A and for single phare 6A can be taken. What you are saying is completely wrong.

    but ACB rating for Tr 2000A???? How its done. which logic???

      Sir according to your thumb rule to find the ACB rating... ie *2,
      1750*2= 3500
      so the Tr. ACB rating would be slight higher than 3500 A .
      but why you used 2000A???
      This was my doubt.

      Thumb rule is only valid for capicator circuit breaker selection for transformor c.b selection we have to only multiply transformer kva rating with 1.4 . Hope you got mine answer 😊

      Nafees Akhtar Bhai transformer's rating is 1250 not 1750,so we multiply 1250 by 1.4 (1250*1.4) we get 1750 ,as the nearest rating of ACB is of 2000 amperes, so we take 2000 amperes ACB, I think u got it
