Very very educative. If possible please upload one practical vedio basing on the energy bill one of one industry where power factor is in between 0.5 to o.8 & how that is improved to 0.99 after installation of apfc panel & avoided paying for low p.f penalty. Rather got incentive for good p.f. Regards Jayaram Parida
Hello Sir, very informative video, thanks. One question, while dividing fixed capacitors in two sections, one for CB (50 KVAR + 50KVAR) & other for (25 KVAR), can we not take one CB for one 125 KVAR capacitor connection, as 250AMP MCCB?
Nicely explained..can you tells how you decide the size of variable capacitor bank to fulfill the demand of. 375kvar....means example you can take all 25kvar bank to fulfill but selected in combination of 50 & 25...
very expanatory and helpful video. I have 1 que.. Why Transformer rating is multiplied by 1.4 while selecting circuit breaker for transformer?? how did you get 1.4 multiplier?
2nd que is that.. CDC you used for variable capacitor is capacitor duty contactor or only a simple contactor?? because as per my information both are different.
very nice explanation ,but a simple doubt is that for the ACB rating selection for transformer we multiply 1.4with transformer's kva rating, but what is 1.4,is it√3?, & where is the power factor corrector equipment,& how does capacitors operate automatically (on & off) when inductive loads are increase & decrease ,plz plz plz reply brother
Kw*1.4 ≈max. Current It is thumb rule. And apfc relay compares actual pf and targeted power factor and calculates how much KVAR will be needed and sends signal to cdc contactor and that contactor when gets supply that capacitor gets connected to bus and improves pf
Load current for 1000Kva=(1000000/(1.732*415))=1391.25A Here 1.732 is square root of 3 there for, 1kVA The Load current will be 1391.25/1000=1.39125 this value is approximated as 1.4
@@herrytech1644 Load current for 1000Kva=(1000000/(1.732*415))=1391.25A Here 1.732 is square root of 3 there for, 1kVA The Load current will be 1391.25/1000=1.39125 this value is approximated as 1.4
If my transformer rating is more high or less there our kvar consideration formula will same ( 30% for variable or 10% for fixed load) or any other formula will be applying there?
NAGESH KETKAR. thank you sir, your lecture is very explanatory , give also the circuit diagram of apfc panel of 250kvar 300kvar etc and also other video related wit hMCC ,PCC panels.
Hello Sir, I have learnt much more than other channels, I have 1 doubt here, In this video at 4.30 min u have said 1 kavr = 2 amp than how i cant understood...please help sir
It's helpful video...we also can find required KVAR through below equation, Capacitor reactive power Qc = P * ( tanφ1 - tanφ2) P is actual power (demand load) is in KW (it can calculate from load summary) φ1 = Initial or actual p.f. (Value can obtain from supply company bill or can consider 0.75) φ2 = Target p.f. ( To be decided by customer or can consider 0.95) Pl. provide some information about heavy duty capacitors bank with 7% series reactor for detuned filters...and why generally we used TP ( 3 Pole) mccb for APFC incomer?
It used to save the capacitor as capacitor will act as short circuit at the time of switching and draw very high current. Inductor will limit this current. Regards dkverma67@rediffmail.com
Hi Sir I want to Work On APFC, And Your Video is So Supportive And I Have Better Knowledge now, But If You Have Documents That Helps Me to Gain Extra Knowledge Please send me. thank you in Advance.
Some time APFC panel is not working or its capacitor will not on at right time when required, What is the possible reason for this ?? could you please share
Can you make a video on selection of a transformer for providing 24 volt supply to a contactor. How much current will drawn by a 24 volt coil contractors
Please specify following in the video:- 1) the 2000 Amp switch after transformer is remote incomer for main panel just after transformer. 2) The first 1000 Amp switch is the O/G of APFC panel 3) The second 1000 Amp switch is I/C of APFC panel. 4) The fixed capacitors may also be connected by contractors.
Thank you so much, I had some doubts about those two switches. Explained In a way perfect way. One question : why do we need to connect contactor to fixed capacitors?
You have to consider voltage fluctuations factor 1.3 and fluctuations due to tolrence in in Capacitor 1.5 So 1.3x1.5x1.4= 2.18 Say approx 2 Regards dkverma67@rediffmail.com
Load current for 1000Kva=(1000000/(1.732*415))=1391.25A Here 1.732 is square root of 3 there for, 1kVA The Load current will be 1391.25/1000=1.39125 this value is approximated as 1.4
Can anyone please explain the reason behind 40%? Yaha Qc = P * ( tanφ1 - tanφ2) iss formula se alag rating mil rahi or 40% se calculation karne pe alag value mil rahi.
Load current for 1000Kva=(1000000/(1.732*415))=1391.25A Here 1.732 is square root of 3 there for, 1kVA The Load current will be 1391.25/1000=1.39125 this value is approximated as 1.4
If pf is considered 0.8 then sin phi shall be 0.6 Maximum KVAR for Compensation 200x746x0.6=89.52 Then we have to take 80% of this as the motor p. f will not be always same. It depends on load and RPM too.So we shall take 71 KVAR capacitor bank fr 200 HP motor.
It is assumed the maximum kvar to be compensated as pf of transformer depend on load. This is included the kvar due to transformer internal magnetic losses dkverma67@rediffmail.com
Cdc selection is done based on capacitor value. For example we are using a 50 kvar capaitor then we can use same value 50amp cdc . FOR circuit breaker we have to double the value 50 kvar × 2 so 100 amp mccb is selected as 1 kvar = 2A.
phase, neutral and earth wire should be of same size for single phase loads. Current for three phase load can be taken as 2A and for single phare 6A can be taken. What you are saying is completely wrong.
Sir according to your thumb rule to find the ACB rating... ie *2, 1750*2= 3500 so the Tr. ACB rating would be slight higher than 3500 A . but why you used 2000A??? This was my doubt. Plz explain
Thumb rule is only valid for capicator circuit breaker selection for transformor c.b selection we have to only multiply transformer kva rating with 1.4 . Hope you got mine answer 😊
Nafees Akhtar Bhai transformer's rating is 1250 not 1750,so we multiply 1250 by 1.4 (1250*1.4) we get 1750 ,as the nearest rating of ACB is of 2000 amperes, so we take 2000 amperes ACB, I think u got it

Very good explained bro.
Thanks
Great and superb explanation boss
Thank u
Great job thank you so much ,, I have one question in the APFC panel side I think it should be an isolator not another ACP ?? Am I right ?
Very Morvalas video understand very easy, thanks.

Awesome video, really good...
Thank u ❤
Very nice explanation.
Thanks
in capacitor bank inductor also use between contactor and capacitor bank in many industry so please tell the selection of inductor.
It used to save the capacitor as capacitor will act as short circuit at the time of switching and draw very high current.
Inductor will limit this current.

In calculation value of 1.31 why we take 2 as multiplying factor
Sir capacitor bank see pehle choke bhi lgate h ,uske bate me bhi bataiye
Sir, pls explain ct connected to apfc reay, which phase we have to choose and why?
Sir please make a video on. DG start panel wiring ....
Very good sir please make other type of panel design video also.there is unique video

Can u provide a video on how to select the step size for APFC panel????
sir little bit confusion why u have used 2 acb for apfc panel
Same question
One from inside of main panel.
And a other one inside APFC panel
Nice explanation. it is power circuit of pfc . where i get Control Circuit of pfc .
Sir why we take 40 % of capacitor.please explain or it is thumb rules
Some time APFC panel is not working or its capacitor will not on at right time when required, What is the possible reason for this ?? could you please share
Can you make a video on selection of a transformer for providing 24 volt supply to a contactor. How much current will drawn by a 24 volt coil contractors
Great job sir ji...thank you
Welcome 😊
Sir Namaste please upload video of apfc control panel wiring
Please specify following in the video:-
1) the 2000 Amp switch after transformer is remote incomer for main panel just after transformer.

Thank you for comment buddy. exactly true
Thank you so much, I had some doubts about those two switches. Explained In a way perfect way.
One question : why do we need to connect contactor to fixed capacitors?
I don't understand when you have 2000 Amp CB as the Main ACB in the panel then what is the use of 2nd 1000 Amp ACB in the same panel?
Very useful
Thanks
I want to ask load connection or incoming & outgoing of apfc panel.
Thank you sir 🙏
Most welcome
Can you please clear my doubt why you took Apfc relay aux supply from 2000 amp ACB please
A current transformer is used
Sir 1kvar=1.31A
So, why you substitute 2 in the place of 1.31
Same question
Same
I want to know when finding ampere.
why you multiplied KVA X1.4
Need to know about 1.4.
I am accatable KVAR X 2 as per formula we are getting.
check this to know about it ua-cam.com/video/5PHyLUGkl14/v-deo.html . Thanks.
One KVA is 1000 VA
So current shall be 1000/1.73*415= 1.39
So 1 kVA =1.4 Amp
You have to consider voltage fluctuations factor 1.3 and fluctuations due to tolrence in in Capacitor 1.5
So 1.3x1.5x1.4= 2.18
Say approx 2
Regards
dkverma67@rediffmail.com
Sir, please explain concept of 1.5 and 1.3
How you get to know the value such that 40% for capacitor rating and for circuit breaker you used 1.4 times of KVA?? can you please explain
Load current for 1000Kva=(1000000/(1.732*415))=1391.25A
Here 1.732 is square root of 3
there for, 1kVA The Load current will be 1391.25/1000=1.39125 this value is approximated as 1.4
I THINK IT IS NOT 40%
IT IS 0.421 THIS VALUE IS OBTAINED FROM CALCULATING CORRECTION FACTOR FOR IMPROVING PF 0.8 TO PF .95
make a video on designing of starters used for ind. motor plz...... or guide me to get designing information
Sure
sir, Can u please explain about "RMG/VCB/LT PANEL/SLD"
Sir how to find the size of capacitor if I have a total load of 500A motor load ( HVAC Application) ??
Thank you sooo much
Welcome
Nice
Why you're fix the ct in between incomer of capacitor panel. It will taken between transformer and incomer of main panel.
to select the circuit breaker of transformer u multiply 1250 by 1.4. my question is from where u get 1.4
P= ✓3.V.I.n
Where n is efficiency
Hope this helps
How do I calculate what amp rating my contactors and relays should be?
what is 1.4, used in the sizing of breaker size?
sir jhon e traister ki book btaye please sir ...handbook of electeical design detail me 2 books h uski
Sir why are you using two nos of 1000 A ACB s..in design calculation we used only one
Can anyone please explain the reason behind 40%?
Yaha Qc = P * ( tanφ1 - tanφ2) iss formula se alag rating mil rahi or 40% se calculation karne pe alag value mil rahi.
Thanks a lot
Please make a more vedios on this
Thank u bro
Thumps up👍👍
Awesome
ACB 1000A, but total of all CBs (200AX4 +150A + 100A =)1050A, please explain?
Sir substation me capacitor selection kaise karte hai
What is 1.4 when u calculate with transformer circuit breaker?
Load current for 1000Kva=(1000000/(1.732*415))=1391.25A
Here 1.732 is square root of 3
there for, 1kVA The Load current will be 1391.25/1000=1.39125 this value is approximated as 1.4
thank you sir
I have one question is that suppose my motor is 200HP and I want fix it capacitor bank so how to calculate the rating of capacitor bank ????
If pf is considered 0.8 then sin phi shall be 0.6
Maximum
KVAR for Compensation 200x746x0.6=89.52
Then we have to take 80% of this as the motor p. f will not be always same.
It depends on load and RPM too.So we shall take 71 KVAR capacitor bank fr 200 HP motor.
Whats 0.6
Can you explain reason for taking 2 No 1000 A ACB
One for main panel and other for sub panel
CT coil were u shown in figure it may not correct I think
Sir please upload more videos...
Sir please explain AMF control panel wiring
Sure 😊
Thank u sir
sir i know kvar=60%of kva value....why u use 40%
why we not use 150A C.B in last variable Capacitor bank
Apfc control wiring diagram, please upload sir
Sir why u added sin 90
My load is 50KVA.... how much cap. Bank do I need to maintain PF at 9
Please find out the pf of your load. 80% of that kvar of lagging pf to be considered fr capacitor bank.
What does APFC stand for ?
Auto power factor control
How 25kvar is multiply by 2 into 15amps.
how? is 40% of 1250 KVA transformer is 500 KVA, not KVAR. please explain.
It is assumed the maximum kvar to be compensated as pf of transformer depend on load. This is included the kvar due to transformer internal magnetic losses
dkverma67@rediffmail.com
for apfc panel calculation value is 1.31 where comes 2
sir how this bank's are connected in 3 phase
Watchout practical video 😊 of apfc panel wiring
OK,,, 25 25 25 kvar 75 kvar how mccb rating,,,,,
Sir cdc 100 amp hi kyue liya 200amp kyue nahi please guide

Sorry but the same current will flow through the CDT which is through MCB so the size of the CDC should be 200 amp only
Bcz u have considered coman capacitor for 2 nos capacitor
*Common CDC
As your wish . Go on. Iam going according to standards
Control wiring of Apfc control panel
phase, neutral and earth wire should be of same size for single phase loads. Current for three phase load can be taken as 2A and for single phare 6A can be taken. What you are saying is completely wrong.
1kvar = how 2 A plz I am confused
CB for Tr
1250*1.4=1750 kvar ok
but ACB rating for Tr 2000A???? How its done. which logic???
Rated acb is of 2000A so i had take 2000 A acb . Good doubt 👏👏
Sir according to your thumb rule to find the ACB rating... ie *2,
1750*2= 3500
so the Tr.
