Trust and Respect are the two most important aspects of a relationship, sometimes the love can fade over the years and partners become more like best friends committed to a long life of mutual support and deep emotional and physical connection. But lose trust or respect and the relationship is basically doomed no matter how much love there is.
Too long. She cheated file for divorce. The fact that she did it so blantly in front of their "friends" so a total lack of respect for him. Tye pain of divorce pales in comparison to the pain that comes from lack of self respect.

I am amazed how a woman, who is driven on emotions, can honestly expect a man to just ignore their infidelity. In this story she wrote down her innermost feelings and emotions. While it is just a story, all women feel this to one degree or another with their AP.
They expect us men to forgive them and forget the pain they caused. Men may not be driven on emotions, we tend to deal in facts, but we do have feelings and feel heartache.
We can not just push aside the fact that anytime we make love there is a very good possibility that you will be thinking of him. Personally i could not get over that. I can never trust her again and refuse to live wondering if it would happen again or if she was thinking about him. No second chances, no punches pulled. Unfortunately the court system has a way of taking the wind out of your sails, at least financially.

This means that loved ones can literally destroy a man when they could take the same abuse from an external source and barely flinch.
You can give all of the facts that you want, it was a few hours out of tens of thousands, there was no love, I don’t care about him, l’ll never see him again, I only love you, think about the children, etc., etc. and while they might be true, they don’t address the issue of a man loving and trusting and being deeply wounded by those he loved and trusted solely because of his love and trust. How can he trust again? How can he believe that it won’t happen again? And then then the notion that his love should be enough to allow him to overcome his hurt, when his love was the very reason he was so hurt is a conundrum.
Trust is the foundation of any relationship, and when it’s broken, it’s incredibly hard to rebuild, especially when emotions and memories of betrayal linger.
A woman that is governed by her emotions yet expects her man to ignore his emotions.

I’ve heard about a dozen different versions of this story. This one’s got some different twists but same moral the wife totally disregards and love respect or loyalty to her husband . To actually have the nerve to think the wife should either expect her husband to immediately understand and get over it or over time expect him to get over it cuz it’s one night and with a celebrity. No self respecting man could ever either accept or learn to get over it and still look at themselves in the mirror or look at his wife with love again.

The fact is, the story is obviously a work of fiction, but his comment seemed to take it as a true story so I asked if he knew. I’ve listened to a few other stories since this but I think it was even told from the wife’s perspective for a short time.
The thing to learn about all this is.

I joke a lot about "Mark Lavellier" stories and how repetitive they are, but pro athletes have tried this crap before.
Just a more mild example is Fletcher Cox of the Philadelphia Eagles got sued for alienation of affection.
Paul Pierce, from the Boston Celtics, tried to punk some dude and take his girl, but little did he know, that guy was a straight up goon (and was definitely not alone). That is the incident that got Paul Pierce shanked up at a night club, and he almost lost his life because of it.

Something that started so "beautifully" It was a crap show form the beginning since you were betraying the person you claimed to love.
I, for one, have decided not to listen to any version of the Marc Lavalier story. Not even this one. The level of disrespect, humiliation and betrayal the husband is subjected to is unimaginable from someone who is supposed to be his life partner. It physically hurts me. And there are some versions where the wife, years later, describes Marc (or some variant thereof) as a sex god and tells the husband that although she regrets what she did, she would do it again. Woman! If you've ever cared about the man in front of you, at least lie!
I don't even like the version in which the ex-military husband sneaks up at night and kills him with an axe.
There is only one version that I like.
The one where the husband, despite being badly beaten by Marc's teammates, still gets home, gets his gun, goes back to the club, cripples the two clubmates, finds out where Marc lives, and shoots them both, the wife and lover. He also has an interesting line, he tells her before shooting her "You should know me well enough to know that I never play to lose!"
After the whole adventure, he is arrested, but, with the help of the lawyer, he manages to get a sentence of only 5 years of house arrest.
After he serves his sentence, women kind of avoid him because of the fame he has acquired, but the lawyer matches him with a former luxury escort and they end up raising her two children and his two children beautifully together. To which they add two more, the result of the love between a so-called convicted criminal and a former prostitute.
This version of Marc Lavalier's story restored my faith in humanity a little.

Yes, the AP gets what is deserved, but not from the husband. The cheating wife tried to keep the affair going behind the husband's back even after promising the husband that it was a "one and done". She deserved more punishment, but she didn't win in the end.

She was shipped off to Cali, Her kids are to the point where their fathers new wife is seen as Mom (and that family will be having most siblings for them soon) and shes seen as someone who vists a couple of times a year if that. She lost .. everything. Not sure her character could be punished more. As far as the AP.. I actually liked how it was handled. The line 'Ever notice you come across someone once and awhile you shouldn't have fucked with?' fits his characters near demise. By coming across two of them in very short order. One (the Husband) ruined his image forever and cost him millions, and one ruined his life entirely and left him a broken man in every remaining way. Besides our MC had to stay out of trouble.

Hemorrhagic shock. Sepsis. And finally, hysterectomy. Now if you dont know what a hysterectomy is its when the uterus is removed and so its impossible to become pregnant (fertilized egg embeds into the wall of the uterus), i guess they could mean adoption or surrogacy if she had her eggs preserved but she herself cannot bear children herself so that line doesnt make sense without more information. Its a minor issue but i feel it ruins the ending slightly at least for me i would have liked to know how they decided and how many as i like to hear about the future outcomes of their happy life.
