One time (not at band camp), while working with a professional backcountry treachery team, we got called out for a logger that had been impaled by a pry bar. It was a homemade tool steel bar, and while rolling some logs something had shifted, which snapped the bar and sent a piece of it through the guy’s middle abdomen. When we get there the guy is just sitting on a log fully conscious and smoking a cigarette with a 3 foot long, 2.5 inch diameter pice of steel through his belly. He was totally nonchalant about it, and said he had walked almost 300 feet down the hill to get to the access road to meet us, and the only reason he hadn’t driven himself was because he couldn’t fit inside a car with the bar through him. He ended up making a full recovery, and last I heard was still logging.
The portal kill using the detached hand is my absolute favourite. It was absolutely crazy, brutal and quick thinking (proving that Morty is actually smart) and absolutely reckless... (collapsing a wormhole? What's the area of effect?)
For the non-fatal wounds, was really interesting to hear all of the thigs to be concerned about for a single trauma. Not like on a TV show or movie where someone gets shot in the shoulder by a large caliber round, then proceeds to do everything with normal function of that shoulder. Could you do a video on what to expect to be realistically affected for use if trauma happens to places like shoulder, elbow, knee, hand, foot??
Like Carmen in Starship troopers, she was impaled all the way through the shoulder with a pincer at least the size of your fist and after a few minutes was walking around like it was a flesh wound.
@@DoctorER can you react to some of the death scenes in the final destination movies and also explain what would really happen to the person because not all of them seem completely accurate
My anatomy professor covered wound healing a couple weeks ago. He does wilderness recuses and the like. Ice first! Thanks Doc for talking about slowing metabolic processes with ice! Some docs get that wrong.
I've never been stung on my cornea, that's just terrifying. But I was stung about my eye three times as a kid. I seemed to have a thing about running into wasp nests, and getting stung around my eyelid. It'd swell up, and look like a shiner for several days. How this happened to me three times though suggests I wasn't too bright as a kid.
Quite a few years ago I was a bit drunk wandering into a wasps nest and I got stung by all the wasps I had to throw away my clothes because when I got to the hospital they were still loads within the bag of clothes I could never wear them close again and I lost my favourite jacket😂
"The egg actually selects what sperm to allow in." So no matter who was the fastest, in the end the game was rigged from the start. Even before life starts, its unfair.
Once when I was 5 years old a wasp stung me in my ring finger and my grandma actually gave me a shot of vinegar to put my finger in it and apparently it did the trick of taking out a sizeable amount of venom. Also supposedly for bee stings you're meant to use either baking soda solution in water or dry baking soda.
I suppose it's because bee venom is acidic and wasp venom is basic. So vinegar (acid) would help neutralise the wasp venom, and baking soda (base) would do the same for the bee venom.
as an avid Rick and Morty fan, I can say for a fact that yes, Morty dropping his severed portal hand into Nick's portal thigh, was a pretty darn cool move😎
I would love to see you react to some of the injuries shown in the original Dragon Ball series. Some of the characters get injured in the craziest ways and I would love to see that kind of video in the future.
While working a summer lifeguard job, I was stung by a yellow jacket on my lower left eyelid. It hurt like hell, but I don't remember if it swelled up or not. Either way, dipping my face into the pool helped soothe it and dull the pain a bit. Something with the chlorine in the water helped
7:18 what happened there was they both had portals on their bodies that were connected to each other, and Morty dropped one inside the other so that the guy got smushed into a singularity (I think, I don't know how portals actually work)
Thank goodness for Doctor Wagner. My week has been a disaster, but your videos never disappoint. I've been stung more times than I can remember, but never in the eye. The worst one was a yellow jacket right under my nostril, but it still wasn't that bad.
Morty: Cuts his own hand portal off and collapses it into the other guy's thigh portal. Dr. Wagner: Uhhhhhhh.........pathogens. Yea let's talk about pathogens.
The cut off hand thing was that Morty and that guy had accidentally created a portal between his hand and his leg so he tossed the hand into the leg portal to collapse the man into himself.
Doctor Mike: "THAT Would Never Happen! This is Ridiculous!" [Skip to next scene] Doctor ER: "ok, this wouldn't actually Happen, but something Similar..." or "but if it DID happen, then..." Doctor ER is the Better Reactor! Case Closed!
Dennis the Menace 1993 Medical Scenes and Injuries! Such as when Dennis used a Slingshot to shoot an Aspirin down Mr. Wilson's throat, when Mr. Wilson was hit on the butt with a golf ball from a vacuum cleaner, when the thief was set on fire, and when the thief was dragged up to a railway bridge, fell and landed hard on wooden deck, and a switch blade knife fell and stabbed him right though the butt.
Wow, morty went from complaining to rick about pain from broken legs to willingly letting a train run over and cutting off his hand. As a fan of trains this hits me just as hard as it hit the doctor
When I was once stung by a bee when I was 11 years old, I had poked a hive with a tennis racket. Of all the locations that bee could’ve stung ,it stung me right on my left nipple. To this day there is a scar where it happened
once again I have to complain about the electricity! 1. heart problems can appear instantly or even months later. it all depends of the frequency at the time you got in contact. 2. most electric injuries are inner burnings of veins and arterias. so they have to be cut out. electricians are taught to estimate the resistance of their body and workarea so they can estimate if the current was strong enough to burn somethin in the body. the 24h heart scan was abolished in my country.
Hey Jordan i know you've covered plenty of Red Dead Redemption content but there's 1 extraordinary medical case you missed that i wanna hear your input on. A character named Harville Presley (Rockstar's reference to Elvis Presley) is confined to a permanent residence in a hotel room within the town of Valentine due to coming down with seemingly incurable severe constipation after eating a church potluck meal despite being treated by several physicians and medicines to no avail. Eventually he is quarantined in that room due to such an extreme case of constipation being feared to be the emergence of a new bowel disease but since this was set just at the beginning of the 20th century diagnostic capabilities especially regarding epidemiology were still rather primitive to say the least.
Got stung in the head by a red wasp once. Took some Tylenol and slept in a tent for an hour. Got stung in the left leg another time. Just waited it out in the bus we have for camping during deer season.
As someone who got stung close to the eye by wasps twice in their childhood, I have a pretty good guess about how much pain Rick must have felt. 0 out of 10 experience, would not recommend.
It'd be cool too see you react to and break down the series Doc Martin and also react and break down some of the most iconic horror movie injuries/fatalities as well.
Gotten stung near the eyebrow, almost eyelid, twice by black wasps. Got very swollen both times could barely see. First time I don't remember much about since I was 4 or 5 but there are pictures. Second time I was 16 so I do remember the pain and the fact I had to hide in my room for a couple of days since I looked so ridiculous.
Rick and Morty hell yeah my most favorite show of all time the medical scenes in here are going to be absolutely insane because you got to admit the technology they got in the show will heal anything.
That second last one, the guy and Morty each had a portal that connected to each other, if Morty put something his hand portal it'd come out of the guy's leg portal, so Morty "cut" his hand off, put his hand in the leg portal which caused the portal to collapse in on itself.
This might seem a strange question but one thing I remember from playing Battlefield 2 were the defibrillator panels that the medic class carry, while their primary purpose is to revive team mates the game manual also states how you can give enemy players the shock of their life by zapping them with the pads, so I was wondering, if someone has been shot with bullets or stabbed or blown up with a grenade or run over by a tank will defibrillators at least get them alive again or are they more specific to what kind of medical situation they can treat?
Defibrillators are for out of whack heart rhythms if your heart is beating abnormally fast a defib would be used to shock it back to normal. Can not be used on asystole or a not beating heart that is where chest compressions come in. Would not work if patient is shot does nothing for them unless they are experiencing a heart attack on top.
It took me awhile to get used to this channel i used to confuse you and Dr Mike because I know you both have UA-cam channels but I do enjoy your videos
I got stung but wasp twice once as a kid on the upper back side of my head it was multiple ones though. And the second time on my right hand when I was using a blow torch to cut a metal pipe that apparently housed a small wasp nest.

Rick and Morty injuries are so crazy and hilarious 😂 I feel like Rick has something for every injury possible lol.
IKR, but there is this other show that he reacted to called Mr Pickles, which do you think is more intense?
But why does his groin and heart defenses only trigger after he's hit in those areas?
