We called it the buzz saw. We used regular and IR chem lights at night if we had to mark the landing zone for the helicopter they would try to land on the buzz saw.

Hey Tyler. That Lazerbrite system is for missions at night time where we(I am a former Cavalry Scout with the US Army) do combat patrols and shit where its dark asf, and we need to follow or identify each other with certain colors. Also we use low dim light to read maps, etc. Usually red light at night time. Green to mark vehicles on radio antennas and etc. The enemy cannot really see red light at night time that well, or low brightness lights, thats why we use chemsticks, but those Lazerbrite last longer than a chemstick.. Just letting you know bub.
@@MrTrigun1 True, but it's still just not as good or as accurate, it's a pass or fail test and doesn't quantify the actual sharpness. I will say the paper test does a better job of showing if there are Knicks or dull spots along the length of the blade, but I still wish he had done both.
The glow stick spin is an older technique I learned back in the 90s. Use smoke to mark an LZ during the day and a glow stick spun around overhead at night. So if you're in need of rescue while out hiking at night AND you get an older former military helicopter pilot, spin a red glow stick around and he'll call in a medevac for you.
That massive cleaver looking knife is for food prep, and the edge being dull is likely intentional as they're letting you choose your own angle that works best for you. Some people prefer 25-28° for food prep, while some prefer 22°, and VERY few go with 17° (razor thickness) especially with a blade like that because your edge is chipped or rolled the first time you hit a bone. But I imagine the edge is totally intentional.
Having done search and rescue for 14 years, I would absolutely know what you were doing by swinging that glow stick, and you can see it from further as well.

I also had a 1L stainless steel water bottle clipped to it. Literally grab that, a backpack of clothes and food, a tent, and a sleeping back and you are good to go for camping over the weekend... or surviving a few days easily. That big knife you were talking about is indeed a very well designed meat cleaver/butcher knife. the distance from the blade edge and the handle makes for some easy chopping through bone without rapping your knuckles on the counter. most of them you would have to hone the blade edge a bit before use.
@@ericwallen I don't think it is tuna specific honestly, though I am sure professional tuna fishermen would likely use something of this sort, there are many OTHER practical uses for it. Lazer brite products are great for low light operations. Designed for the military with many different configurations. The black sleeve is a redesign of a chemlight holder so you can turn it and completely conceal the light.
With the Paracord thing, the chem light on the end swinging around is a very common technique we use if we need exfil on mission or for making our location to choppers. We call it a buzzsaw. I'm active Army infantry with 4 deployments.

26:04 reminded me of DayZ for some reason. LOL Nothing in this video was boring. You make it all interesting and funny. Glad YT suggested your channel I'll be looking for you on Twitch.
My favorite thing about this channel is how hard these types of videos are for me, a former infantryman, to watch. He actually insulted the sacred buzzsaw....what are your thoughts on orange reflective pannels?
The tactical light has different colored lights because each one of them is a different wavelength and is therefore visible at different distances. The red light is the least visible at a long distance. Cheers.
Yep, that's why we rig for red on submarines when the periscope is in use or when surfaced and any hull openings are ajar. Always had to ensure underway flashlight had a red mode.
Really cool video, really did enjoy it, should have more of these compilations or what not of battlebox or what not type box videos, would love to watch them.
The discrete survival light is a water beacon for a man over board in night. Reds are for low light situations and the tube that rotates is a signal light, it's easier to signal properly with that tube spinning compared to pushing the on/off button. It's stuff like that is what each piece does. So depending on what you want it for you set it up for that and it's good instead of multiple lights for different purposes
The first knife was a karambit hybrid. The karambit originated in Indonesia for harvesting and self defense. Most of them have a hawk bill blade, but that was a straight edge I’m guessing for more utility. Once you learn how to use a karambit, they are absolutely amazing. Perfect for edc and self defense (for me anyway).
😂can you imagine looking out your window during a riot and seeing some idiot twirling a glow stick like that trying to abort his mission. LMAO go home Jeff, the chopper isn’t coming
Actually that’s almost exactly how that is meant to happen only the glow stick or chem light as the military would call it is to signal the location of the evacuees also the color is used for a challenge so the helicopter pilots can be sure the go to the right people if there was an impostor trying to lead them astray
This is a favorite DOLLAR TREE toy sometimes 2 for a $1.00!!!🇺🇸 Popular on 4th July instead of fireworks for little kids. Work really well for mission fun.
for anyone wondering the first knife “the poker” is a self defense knife the pinky ring is to help keep it from falling out your hands and the size isn’t to kill but to “poke” lol
I believe the poker knife can be used like a tiny clog making blade.. I only saw it on UA-cam recently a guy recycled some scrap into one... The hole in the handle is for putting on a Dowl or peg sideways. Then the knife becomes a pivoted slicer
that stax thing, coffee, creamer, sugar, and use the last one for both fire starter, and water purification tablets/liquid, and pack it inside of a camping coffee pot, it would make one hell of a camping coffee kit.
the "top poker" is a short throat blade. Used for last ditch hand to hand combat, it is made to slice fast, a extension of your fist mostly aimed at throat slashes.
Dedfish knife is obviously a cleaver type knife, something you might use to cut the heads off fish or frogs. It's probably pretty thick too, since he said it was heavy. You don't necessarily want a razor edge on something like this because you're chopping through bones with it, it could chip or roll the edge. This guy obviously doesn't get it but I'm sure most people would.
Instead of having the mason jar on its side so it rolls when hit wouldn't it've been easier to have it upside down? The bottom probably is thicker but thicker is better 😉
Wool socks are a game changer if you have never owned any! They are great for comfort plus very hard wearing and dry very fast and don't get as smelly as cotton socks if you have to keep them on for days. ( any ex soldier will tell you about wearing socks for days)
Yep, got them when I was serving on board Submarines, it gets very cold at times. Wool socks are a game changer. Still rocking a few of the pairs almost 10 years later.
The karambits main purpose is self defense. It’s probably the best self defense knife on the market. It was the first knife you showcased and one my my favorite blades to carry! I carry my pistol but always keep a back up karambit just in case.
@@14kiddd you sure don’t lol. There’s quite a few different “fish knives”. This one seems like it be almost a meat cleaver but for fish. Regardless battle box’s are a absolute waste of money
The Fire Dragon solid fuel is designed to be used with a small foldable metal cooker called a Fire Dragon. I have one, but it is tiny and one of those blocks will about do a cup of water, provided you surround the cooker to stop it being blown out by the wind with a metal surround. It is very prone to being blown out.
Lol. Watching you review knives was almost painful. You got some really good product there. I especially like the Nessmuk blade (butterknife). Damn, you almost ran that one into you hand with the sheath test
We laughed. We cried from laughing and we definitely subscribed for pure entertainment purposes. I'll watch more videos after I'm finished wiping the tears from my eyes.
The last light you had in the light group it's a modern glow stick the black lens cover is like the cymlight holder used by the military you twist it if need to go to black out to keep from being seen once in the clear you open it so your team can see you I used to have the old snap light style covers they were listed for tank command to mark what tank squad you were with color and number of lights on the tank also
Pretty sure the ded fish knife is for just that, dead fish. You would use it to remove the head from a fish before cutting/cooking it. At least that's my guess. Could be wrong.
There's a subscription box called universal yums that is filled with snacks from around the world. Maybe not as exciting for you Tyler, but we might get to see some more of your range of food tasting faces... From the "oh this is great" face to the "I hate this" face. Just a thought.
I don't make a lot of money, but after watching this, I'm definitely considering ordering some of these just to permanently store in my 4runner for offroad camping trips. Not exactly a fan of the gamble-like nature of it, but it does seem like sometimes you get some good stuff in there. Great video man, thanks for the in depth breakdown of your personal experience with it. I'll add it to my list of potential purchases for the near future for sure. Better to be prepared with as much gear as possible when out in the sticks after all.
Out of all of the knives that was put on the table, Tops knives that you had was the best knife out of the box, and Tyler the purpose of the “poker” from tops is more of a self defense knife and it has that ring for an easy grab, mostly seen on karambits but Tops knives makes other survival knives and axes, all of their knives are made in the USA, handmade and hand sharpened too, Tops is a quality knife manufacture out their and loved by most survivalist
Tyler, that tac light is a marker light. You hang it on your gear so your fire team can see each other. Also you can have it on your gear when diving underwater to mark each others locations.
I work in the ER and that liquid band-aid is similar to something we use called Derma bond. Think super glue for skin. Pro: quick, easy application. Lasts a long time. Con: don't use it on joints. It won't last anywhere near long enough because of the constant movement.
Just so you are aware, that spinning glow stick is an actual method we use in the military to mark a LZ for helicopters. It's called a "Buzz Saw". Though we use IR Glow sticks not visible to the naked eye. You can only see them with NVGs. I assume if you're not in the military this seems very strange. Makes perfect sense in regards to what it is meant for. We use Paracord for everything. Seems these boxes are targeted at the military with a lot of these items. As well as your regular outdoor survivalist.
The look on your face when you went to try the food was priceless. You looked terrified. Haaahahaha Find some MREs from the 80s Era. That's enough to scare anyone.
The hook contraption is a fishing snare. It doesn't attach to your pole, you attach it to a overhanging branch and it catches fish for your. It is typically used if you don't have a fishing pole or device, and having multiple snares is always useful.
26:10 When you were doing that fast breathing thing in the mask, I was surprised you didn't do the whole Vader thing... _"Luke, I am your father"_ famous line from Star Wars. He got dangerously close to setting that beard on fire when he was blowing out that block!
My favorite thing about this channel is how hard these types of videos are for me, a former infantryman, to watch.
He actually insulted the sacred buzzsaw....what are your thoughts on orange reflective pannels?
That Reflex is just about the ultimate lock blade. It's never folding up on your fingers.
Tyler this was one of the funniest videos I’ve seen from you in quite a while. Not sure why but your reactions to stuff was great. Keep on keeping on.
@@DeagleGamesTV yup any light on the outside must be red and any compartment that leads to the weather deck must be red light.
@@stephenmitchell3569 are you ok?
for anyone wondering the first knife “the poker” is a self defense knife the pinky ring is to help keep it from falling out your hands and the size isn’t to kill but to “poke” lol
I believe the poker knife can be used like a tiny clog making blade..
I only saw it on UA-cam recently a guy recycled some scrap into one... The hole in the handle is for putting on a Dowl or peg sideways. Then the knife becomes a pivoted slicer
6:26 - 6:39 out of context had me dying. You should do a "TylerTube Out Of Context" video!
Kinda wish you opened each box individually.
same
So you could see what an Individual box is like. See if it's worth it.
The last knife looks as though it could *almost* take place of a hatchet for bush craft, except unlike a hatchet it has no "hammer face".
I could watch you all day Tyler, definitely make long videos like this more often okay? Thanks 👍
that stax thing, coffee, creamer, sugar, and use the last one for both fire starter, and water purification tablets/liquid, and pack it inside of a camping coffee pot, it would make one hell of a camping coffee kit.
the "top poker" is a short throat blade. Used for last ditch hand to hand combat, it is made to slice fast, a extension of your fist mostly aimed at throat slashes.
I loved this super long vid, awesome job Tyler keep it up! 👍🏻
24hours in the wild surviving of just battlebox items. Now that's content
4:05 For god sakes! Gloves Tyler! 😂
your channel is the perfect one to watch when you're lying in bed at 3am.
Exactly how I first found it and how I keep restumbling upon it lol
@@ziggygunz2447 haha yes, but I didn't see it for weeeeeeks
Great knives for some whittling. Your videos are always a treat!
Absolutely love your non bias reviews.
I really like the Green Water Filter Pump thing, GREAT idea. Very very useful.
Very cool mr shart
That's just how he tests knifes besides I'm positive he does these videos for entertainment and not his actual review
Great video, I appreciate you taking the time. There are a couples things I would order. Definitely the water pump
Instead of having the mason jar on its side so it rolls when hit wouldn't it've been easier to have it upside down? The bottom probably is thicker but thicker is better 😉
Tyler, I’m loving the recent uploads and now you bless us with this phat cake of a video. I might lose my mind
The first knife looks to be a tactical knife based on the Talon or Karambit knife used for close quarters fighting.
Ready to walk through END OF THE WORLD CHEMICALS🤣🤣🤣Tyler kills me bro he's hilarious without even trying
@@DeagleGamesTV indeed!
Every pr of sox i own are wool blend. Comfy, warm & wickable.
The karambits main purpose is self defense. It’s probably the best self defense knife on the market. It was the first knife you showcased and one my my favorite blades to carry! I carry my pistol but always keep a back up karambit just in case.
The dedfish blade I'm pretty sure isn't meant to be sharp. It's a chopper, chopping blades don't need to be crazy sharp.
Yeah it seems like you would use that to section a big tuna or something
@@df7242 I know absolutely nothing about knives but figured it was for fish. DedFISH
Just laughing at how “silly” a Tops wharncliffe blade like it comes from Walmart.. Lol why are we here?
We laughed. We cried from laughing and we definitely subscribed for pure entertainment purposes. I'll watch more videos after I'm finished wiping the tears from my eyes.
Petition to get Tyler to read out 1 weather tip per video until he gets through all of the ones in the book!
Those neck lights are actually amazing for reading, knitting and crocheting at night. I have a pair and they are invaluable if your lighting is poor.
The last light you had in the light group it's a modern glow stick the black lens cover is like the cymlight holder used by the military you twist it if need to go to black out to keep from being seen once in the clear you open it so your team can see you I used to have the old snap light style covers they were listed for tank command to mark what tank squad you were with color and number of lights on the tank also
as a new recruit they send you to get batteries for the chem light as a form of hazing in the navy.
Pretty sure the ded fish knife is for just that, dead fish. You would use it to remove the head from a fish before cutting/cooking it. At least that's my guess. Could be wrong.
So BattleBox sent you the BCB Fire Dragon fuel tabs, but not the corresponding folding stove that goes with them. That's a shame.
20:20 😆😆😆his face “ehhhh”
There's a subscription box called universal yums that is filled with snacks from around the world. Maybe not as exciting for you Tyler, but we might get to see some more of your range of food tasting faces... From the "oh this is great" face to the "I hate this" face. Just a thought.
The might sell a pickle collection ?
😂
Tyler how bout some gun videos?? Maybe get some armor plates and shoot them with different pistols/rifles??
I'm ashamed you didn't bring out the sharpness tester for all the knifes
I don't make a lot of money, but after watching this, I'm definitely considering ordering some of these just to permanently store in my 4runner for offroad camping trips. Not exactly a fan of the gamble-like nature of it, but it does seem like sometimes you get some good stuff in there. Great video man, thanks for the in depth breakdown of your personal experience with it. I'll add it to my list of potential purchases for the near future for sure. Better to be prepared with as much gear as possible when out in the sticks after all.
You could spend the 50 each month on purpose picked items you choose and not gamble. If you want a surprise then this might be thing for you.
It's time to use the pump filter to see how well it filters different liquids, of course you have to start with pickle juice.
That stupid paracord glow stick thing had me dying laughing for a good 5 minutes. Who knew your demonstration of it would be such comedic gold.
Yeah I love karambits. Easily the best self defense knife you can own.
Tyler, that tac light is a marker light. You hang it on your gear so your fire team can see each other. Also you can have it on your gear when diving underwater to mark each others locations.
Only this man has the power to make a 54min video feel like 10min
Wohoooo !! I love battle box unboxing and no one does it better than you!!
Did you really just question what you're going to do with what's basically a MEAT CLEAVER during camping or hunting situation??
Gotta please the UA-cam censorship gods
I mean the brand is literally called Dedfish 😂
Pretty sure the first knife is a karambit. An Indonesian knife resembling a claw. Historically used as a weapon.
I’d like to see if the water purifiers actually filter because he just used clean water
I work in the ER and that liquid band-aid is similar to something we use called Derma bond. Think super glue for skin. Pro: quick, easy application. Lasts a long time. Con: don't use it on joints. It won't last anywhere near long enough because of the constant movement.
Dedfish is used for cutting the heads off of fish
Loved watching you figure a few of these things out! Keep up the good work.
Haaahahaha
Find some MREs from the 80s Era. That's enough to scare anyone.
The hook contraption is a fishing snare. It doesn't attach to your pole, you attach it to a overhanging branch and it catches fish for your. It is typically used if you don't have a fishing pole or device, and having multiple snares is always useful.
6:51 osha approved testing 👌😂
I love this video. One of my favorites. Please do more like it
You literally radiate the same energy my friend got into prepping for the summer gives off.
26:10 When you were doing that fast breathing thing in the mask, I was surprised you didn't do the whole Vader thing... _"Luke, I am your father"_ famous line from Star Wars. I've seen alot of UA-cam video and movies and quite a few use that line as a joke when they wear a full face mask of some kind, like the one you showed.
