This whole time I thought Balaam was a prophet of God who betrayed his fellow Israelites. How lucky he was to get so many warnings from God yet he was still driven to do what’s wrong. Thank you Rick.
Rick, I love this so much. But how did Baalam hear from God if he was a false prophet? and why did God send an Angel, if he did not hear from God. And I know that his mom was a Baal worhipper too.
I'm confused too because I thought that he said he couldn't do anything more or less than what the Lord has said, so I thought he was good...? But if Jesus references him then I guess he mustn't be good..
Simple.. Balaam did have his spirit open because he said in Number 24 'Balaam who has his eyes open and see' and God could speak him simple because he was in the spiritual world open to see .. but balaam he said just God says, is similar to what some new age do today listening from spirituals guides (spirits,, devil) so God take his mouth and speak because God can do.. even the devil to those who influence them.
i personal believe he was A prophet... read the book of numb chapter.22 verse 10 till 12 u can tell he heard some sort OF relationship with God...HE somehow want astray BECAUSE HE LOVED MONEY
God can really speak to whoever He wants, just like in the book of Job where God and Satan have a conversation about Job. Jesus also told the demonics where they could go after leaving the tortured man (men) of the Gadera, and they had to have His permission to enter the pigs. It clearly says in Numbers 22:7 that the money brought to Balaam was from the elders of Midian for "fees for divination". In Leviticus 19:26 God makes it clear that none of His people are to practice divination or sorcery. Baalam was dealing in the realm of darkness under Satan. God is sovereign and warned Baalam not to curse Israel. Baalam is evil and will probably be dealt with at the Great White Judgement or when the Satan and his angels are thrown into the abyss. I hope this helps.
Do you mean why did God let Satan test Job so severely? That is a good question for the LORD. The only thing I can understand is God knew His righteous servant Job and used his suffering for God's glory. Maybe to communicate that beautiful trust, confidence and love that Job retained thru that horrible suffering to others. Job never denounced God and clung to Him through everything, the betrayal of so-called friends and his wife. What a saint.
I'm not sure I fully understand the spiritual parallels between fornication and what it was that Balaam did to God's ppl. Some sort of stumbling block but eating things sacrificed to idols suggests occult 15:29 .... If the Churches spoken of are indeed ages notice the trial isn't exclusive to the particular Church . The Laodicean Church main trial have to do with not adding things too or being corrupted by material gain. Being led astray would still be something to guard against.
oh thank you that verse says NO ENCHANTMENT against jacob NOR CURSE UPON US ! destroy all false doctrine and its presence / COMPROMISE MUST BE DEFEATED ! DEBAUCHERY MUST BE STOPPED > IN JESUS NAME / pray for my household . AND CAUSE ANY HERE TO QUIT ENTERTAINING EVIL AND THE PRACTICE THEREOF ..
Another reason he could not curse Israel because Israel was not walking in sin at that time. If Israel had sinned, Balaam could have cursed them and the spirit realm would have honored his words and the devil would have used his words along with the sin (sin gives the devil legal right to attack and be successful; every demonic attack is not because of sin though) to attack them. The curse would not be very effective if they walked in obedience to God. That is why in Proverbs 26 it says a curse that is causeless cannot come. Being "causeless" is walking a sin-free life and having generational curses already broken.
Thanks for this. I am.a pastor and been preaching the book of numbers. Came to Balaam and this teaching means lots

This is the same as today
Balaam was a true prophet but like so many people in ministry today, he used his position for his own gain. He loved money.
