I managed to beat this scenario on hard completely neglecting my economy and focusing all 16 of my vills on the wonder. As soon as the wonder was finished, I immediately fortified up as much as I could as I knew that my initial navy was in tatters after the first clash with the turks. I walled up every bit of shore, and immediately got to work trying to boom and rebuild my navy as fast as possible. Not a single transport was let through as I turtled to the extreme.
I played on standard, but I got it by spamming fire ships and heavy demo ships. When they send a wave of fire ships you'll win through numbers but it'll decimate your fleet, so I just sent a bunch of demo ships in. Demo ships also move slightly faster than a transport and make a good last line of defense. One of the achievements is destroying units with demo ships too, so you can get some kills for that here.
I destroyed the turks before waiting 200 years and didn't got the achievment :( I guess I'll play as intended and defend the coast Edit: Doing normally without destroying purple I got the achievment
Did this recently on hard the best way to get the achievement is to blockade their Harbour so they can never get the transport ships anywhere near your land you destroyed them as they leave port
BEWARE: This achievement WON'T unlock if you defeat the Turkish (purple on the map) in the southeast, it only unlocks if you win by the wonder years reaching 0. I destroyed the turkish without constructing the wonder, it did win me the game but the achievement didn't pop. So after reloading the game and building the wonder and waiting for 200 years I again won the game and then it did pop.
Back years ago, as the child i was i just built walls upon the shores so transport ships can't ashore troops. Then you have all the time to build your fleet and deal with Turks :D
I wanted to use the villagers to strengthen my economy first before building the wonder. Time they spend building is time they aren't gathering resources.
@@Sosuke0727 You would prefer to defend the building wonder while you have a proper army to fight the Turkish. Wonders take a lot of time to build and hence they stay with lower HP for longer. You might want to be prepared so your wonder is built without much problems.
@@Sosuke0727 It's not about the resources for the wonder, but the resources that the villagers collect. If a villager spends 5 minutes constructing the wonder, that's five minutes they could have spent gathering wood for ships.
The Battle of Lepanto was a naval battle between a coalition of Catholic states and the Ottoman empire. The Spanish were one of the main forces of the coalition, hence playing as them in this scenario.
I think there was a bug with the achievement that was mentioned in the recent patch notes. I think the achievement hadn't been unlocking if you defeated the Turks instead of building the wonder.
@@T-West just got it, actually its prevent ALL transport from landing, including yours, i play in french and there is a wrong translate, they said to keep TURC transports from landing

I love Aoe2's achievements.. actually make you go out of your comfort zone and do things you don't normally do.
You can cheese this mission hard by sticking demo ships in the transports spawn

to defeat them you need to land on their land right?
if so maybe your units landing could be triggering the lose of the achievement
I swear I was pissed when I disocvered I failed the achievment because of the AI landing on that outter island close to their own spawn

Do you suppose if you hit them with Demo ships the killed enemies within would count as Demo ship kills for the achievement?

These immense resources on the islands look ridiculous. I'm not even sure whether anyone has ever tried to mine all the gold and stone on this map.😄
I just spammed fire ships in the beginning and patrolled them. They never landed

Has this achievement been fixed yet? Just brought the game and I want to destroy purple not wasting time for the wonder though.
Not sure i whether defeating them works, but you could just try increasing the speed to x8 once you've built up your navy a bit.
