If your gonna do all that, just put a clock on everything & a patchbay for the classic bends *the top is an sk-5, the bottom is an mt-240. Both have thorough bending documentation & service manuals available (a bunch of the 240 bends sound like the shitshot stuff you got by switching the clock, but repeatable). Reading the service manuals should make modifying these quite a bit easier & lessen the chance of destroying a hens teeth keyboard such as the dm-100. (cpu pins for 3 separate clocks, key matrix, audio paths are all there, plus a lot more.)
Nice! I will very much google mt-240 bends. Have had no luck finding anything for the dm-100 and googling the cpu gave really results. Like reaaally poor. Even a scam site was like top 3 links 😅 So thank you tons for info! 😁
Excellent work, Simon. The idea to have switches for all the upper keys is genius. I’ve bent many casios and you are definitely getting some classic bent casio sounds and some others i’ve never heard!
Awesome! you've turned the DM-100 into an really interesting instrument! Can't wait for the songs! Having heard 'kind of a one' I'm expecting craziness and creativity!
What happens at 21:22 is obviously a note not stopping at the end of its sample, and continuing to read the whole memory; that's why you hear those rising scales, those are multisamples for one sound.
Can you circuit bend an Alesis Quadrasynth Plus? for example, include a way to connect a VGA monitor, , add some Oscillators/VCOs,etc, and uSB connectivty...
@@jeffreyheffner908 ugh..that little tiny screen..Then I tried to get the editor and they want to charge more for the software than I paid for the synth..I only paid $100 for it in great condition..
Screen would be a fun experiment to try one day! Probably straight forward if information is available on what it has originally and what language and all that. Totally above my paygrade. Ask ”Replicat” in the magpie pirates discord 😆
the pitch bend I did on my Casio ep 10 is the same with tuning, and the tuning is effected by my resistance as well. meaning when I touch or even bring my hand near the pitch knob, wires or switch, it detunes a little. I use it sorta like a LDR LFO when I play notes, very interesting indeed!
Dang, ye caught some really interesting ghosts there!!! Yeah, once ye can get it adjusted to stop killswitching then that’s become one powerful musical monster! I particularly love the upper key switches, but I feel ye on the 4 note polyphony limit being irritating. The SK1 does the same thing and it’s one of my few complaints about it. The layout with those black & white switch caps looks beautiful!
haha, sorry about all the soldering but I feel like it was still a good suggestion even though the batteries were a much simpler key latch solution. Maybe next time I'll just keep quiet :) Love the black and white switches, lovely detail! This has been really fascinating (and hilariously entertaining as always) to follow along with. Pretty amped to pick up an old keyboard and try some bends.
Oh I love it so much now that it is done 😁😁 so never keep quiet!! Sorry for not being able to give proper shoutout. Comment somehow disappeared for me in studio feed!
I'll be honest, I looked at the piece of paper in the background, and started dissociating, so I was staring at it for longer than I meant to, which was kinda funny when I realized
@@SimonTheMagpie I ended up getting it because one day after looking at a lot of keyboards online I dreamt of this keyboard, I spent days trying to find it eventually realised my brain had combined the pss7 with the 102 (the one with the microphone and card scanner)
amazing video! thank you for all the insight! brings back memories.. i also circuitbent a dm100 some years ago and recorded an album with it. fantastic instrument!
Hi Simon, I am the fellow that warned you not to connect the upper and lower keyboards, because mine went to permanent La La Land. It’s still powers up and won’t respond to any controls, it just makes a beautiful string of sonic gobbledygook. It sounds like you’ve gotten pretty smart about this thing. Is there any chance you would like to try to bring mine back under control and maybe teach it some new tricks?
"Raider's March", by John Williams, from "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", there, at the end. After replacing things, watch out, for poison darts, and the giant boulder. 🤠 Indiana Jones, is everywhere you turn, right now, as there's a new film that just came out.
Greetings from Skåne, I have magpies I feed and the little bastards are in full magpie at the moment, 430am it is a magpie chorus, they wake my cat who wants me to feed him and them so he can watch them play, they are absolute madness , chasing cats, chipmunks, hawks, hedgehogs !! They pull cats tails, there are two magpies who have NO tail, just a fat little magpie but cuz they are bullies. Its a magpie freakshow. When they have no need to search for food. They really just play all day. All together there is over 40 of em now because they just made more. 20kg of dogfood per month. Plus a 400 gram roll of oat “digestive” cookies from willys per day and some sunflower seed AND THEY STILL ATE ALL MY STRAWBERRIES!!!! And all my smultron! I adore them though, I can totally understand your name.
To find that rare thing is one thing and the mods…..yeoewwzzzaa I know what you mean….it gets crazy when the camera is off…..it happens…🤣🤯🥳😱🎹 That has to be the mountain top of the infamous Casio glitches.
I love the Latin-flavored glitches (at 21:23) the weird little undocumented NEC chip in these things puts out. Too bad Japanese chip companies are weird and never publish their datasheets 😔

Or Simon circuit bent his way into opening a portal to the hell of freeform jazz.
I'd like to meet the weird Japanese guy who designed this thing in 1987.
That is epic!!

DDC saved the day! ❤ Also, amazing bends! The randomness in this is soooo cool!
you are the best youtuber , smart , genuine , and not for sale....
You sucessfully made the Wordls first fully functioning Kakophony-device
I really need help😢 My old Casio CT 370 sounds circuit bent. I did nothing to it. It sounds so glitchy and no specific notes.
The insides looks nearly the same and it uses PCM and the sounds are similar too.
100 songs...yes...this synth is worth the time and effort...gr8 job on the switches.
Fun to hear that demo song that is the same on my MT-540 played back in wildly different tones.😲🎶🎶🎹🎶🎶Play On

Hi I'm the magpie: no hair, don't care ❤
I think you need to do a complex bend of my first sampler ever as a 14yr old, the Yamaha VSS-30.
