Yep. Big damage is his only strength. I killed him without any problem when he was at phase 2 with roughly 80% HP. Maybe it's defensive offence skill, maybe i cut his shields too fast, but he is kinda easy.
I'm more impressed by the fact you got this far with no upgrades than that you beat him, I'm in a Revengeance run myself rn, Armstrong is the first really challenging thing in Revengeance difficulty since the 2 grad boss fight in like chapter 2 or 3, to be fair, for him I didn't make it to phase 2 before he died, I tried to just wait for him to present so I could get there but he never did, and because I didn't wanna restart, I never heard the lyrics in this run... I'll have to go back to this fight
Did you know if you destroyed that shield and enters his next phase, there's a chance that despite you leaving his health at 100%, there's a chance it might randomly get down to 65%>
@@-Astolfo_Lover- Fun Fact: sundowning or sundown syndrome is actually a syndrome known to occur in people either with dementia or alzheimer, people with sundown syndrome get their symptoms increased at evening and night, in other words "when the sun goes down". When you first meet Sundowner, it's a relatively sunny day. But when you fight Sundowner, it's raining and the sun is not visible. At day Sundowner was relatively calm and joking but when you fight him, he just doesn't give a shit
I'm going to echo another comment and say that Sundowner should be actually invincible while his shields are up and that in phase 2 Ripper Mode is the only thing that'll deal good damage. I think the thing that makes Sundowner so easy is the fact that his whole shtick is being slow but very powerful when he attacks but to the player it's still the same flick of the joystick and button press no matter how much damage the attack deals. It'd be nice if it was like MG Excelsus how even if you parry it still takes away health so that his attacks still feel weighty. Give him an extra attack or two to spice things up (sorta stupid idea but a fake-out attack where he pretends like he's going to swing but delays it to throw you off sounds kinda cool) and you've got a pretty solid boss now.
I would be intrigued if Sundowner didn't cheat but that's apart of his character. The health damage while parrying is also very interesting, makes you need to learn how to dodge. Removal of Battlefield Acquisition and the Helicopters. You got what you just said. Additionally you also take parry damage from Jetstream Sam in R-00.
Sundowner should be faster in second phase and have quick, strong attacks like he does in cutscenes- and how he can literally outrun raiden. Maybe since he's one to cheat he could've at some point in the fight called in a gekko and rid atop it as a move? It's such a shame such a cool character has the worst fight
The most impressive thing in this run isn't that it was done with no upgrades (health/fuel cell - this is the requirement of an in-game achievement in fact). The impressive point is that it was done *without* Defensive Offense, the single most important buyable skill. Well done my dude.
Sundowner really deserved better, perhaps there is another timeline where he's actually a harder boss than Monsoon and Mistral combined. Oh well we can only dream
The simple way to do this is by tripling his health and doubling his damage. Also he does damage even if you block his attack, albeit said damage is considerably reduced.
I swear, these clips make the parries in this game look like a total childs play. I only started using them more frequentley during the boss fights after Monsoon and even after that fight I struggled.
