You really should do Seven Days to the Wolves (Live at Wembley Arena). It has everything you could want from a Nightwish performance. It makes me happy every time I see it.
And speaking about James Bond, Seven days to the wolves gives me always a bond movie feel
YES
You just went to the top with those likes
@@TheThamesmen 🤘😊 You'll love it!
@@TheThamesmen that's a great list, i can tell already! After i heard Seven Days to the Wolves for the first time i woke up having that song in my head for a full week. It was a great week! 😊 And if you want to hear Marko in front as clean as it gets: While Your Lips Are Still Red at this Wembley show. A beautifull sweet ballad, and Troy uses the ebow in it.
Now you two, go back and watch the end again, Floor went to Tuomas' podium and sings "Conquering the darkest places" directly to him, she would know what was next in the Wembley (arena) set list and a very different song. . . . . . . . . . .You'll get there and then remember what I say here.
The Poet and The Pendulum, knowing the back story will make sense.
Good stuff. Incidentally, every Nightwish song is a banger anyway ! :-)
Yes, I wish the camera could have caught the interaction better. It was a meaningful moment.
Ha ha... but there are different levels of bangers
@@TheThamesmen :-) I'll let you decide on the sub-calibre of banger, but all bangers they surely are !
@@572Btriode A cherry bomb banger is much lower than a Mount St Helens!!
@@TheThamesmen That they are, but it's a bit unfair comparing the might of nature, and remember, nature is a mother, with the feeble efforts of mankind.
:-)
This is from Wembley Arena which is an indoor venue. Also Jukka left in 2014 and was replaced by kai who played in Wintersun. Also an excellent drummer.
Thanks!!
This Kai Hahto is a grandmaster on drums. Very high rated by his colleagues. I'm in doubt, is he still the drummer of Wintersun? Does this important Finnish band still exist now two of their members are playing for Nightwish?
Haha, Floor is not a liar. I feel much better now. 😅👍
Thanks a lot from Colombia, you're so fun
Thank you! 😃
Try "Shudder before the beautiful" - the opener of the Wembley show. Also, the "new" and current drummer is Kai Hahto from Wintersun, a freaking human metronom.
Noted and thanks!!
You guys should be proud of Troy, he is a great and funny guy, just like you two. He is also, if you didn't know a magician and a very good one too, quite a character. But nice reaction on one of Nightwish happier songs. Waiting for Wacken show 🤘
:)
Good reaction as always, how about "whish I had an angel" next, great interplay between Marco and Floor.
Noted and thanks Ron
"and get confused about breakfast cereal" that's (part of) why I like your vids guys lol
Ha ha be well... Have a fab weekend and thanks for supporting the channel.
I never noticed the similarities to Live and let Die but now I can't unhear it^^
Paul McCartney's lawyers might be listening so ssssh!
so uplifting song. nightwish first and maybe last finish band who play in wembley. always pleasure guys, thanx and have great new lucky week there.
Hey.... You have a fab week also from your friends on the West Coast
Thanks again guys! Great reaction! When Jukka left the band, to work "behind the scene", due to a serious sleep apnea maybe because the long touring around the world? He "brought" his good friend Kai Hahto to play drums. Kai is also a beast like Jukka behind the drums. Jukka is more of a "show man" and Kai is the "human metronome". If you listen band Wintersun and songs like: "Sons of Winter and Stars, Time etc. you will see. Or NW Live in Buenos Aires: "The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean".
They do have a fascinating story as a band and survived many evolutions it seems
Jeannette is correct & 7 Days to the Wolves fricking gives me cold chills every time! George you have been cloned lol. Been there with one eye looking east and the other looking west. Is there any other way LOL
Coolio - Be well
Shudder berore the beautiful, The opener of the same show.
Noted and thanks
"Alpen" is how the Alps are called in Austria, Bavaria or Switzerland. "Alpine Glow" (Summits Glow) would be a possible translation of the song's title refering to beautiful reflections on glacier summits at dawn/dusk - for marketing purposes, nowadays similar terms are also used for party zones in the mountains when people were lit by alcohol, etc. P.S. got the impression that your recording of that track has already been a few weeks ago, hasn't it ?
Cool
Look out Bond! Imagine Floor as a Bond "girl"!? She would be a killer AIVD or MIVD agent! Jub-jub bird is from the poem "Jaberwocky" by Lewis Carroll. Brillig! Watch out for the bandersnatch!
Ha ha.... I think she'd be the villain! She could kill with a high E note
Okay guys, time for The Greatest Show on Earth.
Not yet... not yet!!
Good one How about the opener from Wacken Dark Chest of Wonders or maybe Last ride of The Day I may have missed it have you done Song of Myself
Noted - Thanks for this!!
Guys, DO go check out Marko's channel! Some very good stuff there!
Will do. Thankyou
Great reaction guys, as always. Maybe you could react to The Poet and the Pendulum, one of the 3 most known masterpieces of Nightwish (with GLS and The Greatest Show on Earth).
Great suggestion!
I think greatest show on earth first, and some others like 7 days to the wolves and maybe 1 or 2 with Tarja. And then read up on the story behind poet, and then react.
Do the whole Wacken YES YES YES !!
You'll get bored of us!!
@@TheThamesmen Not with Nightwish. Im watchin rection videos of all of u here on YT for last 2 years nearly day after day, sometimes even rewatching a few times certain videos. Im sure all of us NW Army do the same :D
I have a classic and progressive rock background. The who is at the top of my list. Once I discovered nightwish, Floor replaced roger as my favorite singer. Two tremendous bands.
Cool! We managed to see them with 3 out of the 4 alive but wished I had seen the whole band!!
@@TheThamesmen you've got me beat. I'm 32 so I was young when John Entwistle died. You must have seen one of his bass solos. He's my favorite musician. If you are not aware, Marko plays John Entwistle's signature warwick buzzard bass in many vids.
Everything is connected!
Thought you two blokes were 'casting from England. Ha. Two more Californians! How mundane. George, I'm hailing from the Palos Verdes Peninsula (if you know where that is). What part of L.A. do you now call home?
Hi Greg. I am West LA near Culver City. Lucky you to be where you are a lovely around there.

As you already noticed "We were here", it should be time for "The Greatest Show on Earth", and I'm personally wishing for the Tampere-version. Keep on "Nightwishing"... If you decide to check out the whole Wacken - count on me, if I only have time suitable for it 🤘

That just went to the top of the list, as you have so many likes
@@TheThamesmen Yes, Tampere version.
@@TheThamesmen awesome :). Can I suggest (to avoid enraging the darker regions of the internet) that a) you have the lyrics on hand so you can understand the basic premise. b) if you do tampere version (imo the best version), then you should watch the video ALL THE WAY TO THE END . The whole video is part of the piece/experience. c) see if you can pick out at least 1 suspiciously familiar riff during the song. Keep up the entertaining work guys.

Yes, for weak fantasy. Such a great song which is reactors tend to skip
Juuka , the Drummer left Nightwish in 2014 due to health issues , Kai Hahto was the replacment , permanent since 2019 , since Juuka announced that he wont come back as Drummer . Besides ,the new bass Player is from Wintersun too .

The lyrics of this song tie into Greatest Show On Earth, which is the epic final track of the studio album.

Jukka is still a part of nightwish behind the scenes taking Care of admin stuff and him and new guy Kai is best freinds so it was natural that he took the place of jukka

FYI : The Jubjub bird is a dangerous creature mentioned in Lewis Carroll's nonsense poems "Jabberwocky"
Ahhhh... There you go!!! Thank you.
Good stuff.
The jub-jub bird is an Edward Lear invention.
I love the expressiveness of Floor here- "close your ryes" then "take a peek" and she opens one eye at a time and looks askance.
This was the Arena, so seats 20,300.
We Were Here is referenced in the Greatest Show.
There's a repeated cross reference to My Walden too.
Troy playing bazouki and Low Whistle in this one.
Thanks guys.
Good info!! Be well
@@TheThamesmen Yeah, Hunting of the Snark if I remember correctly.
Not Lewis Carroll? The Hunting of the Snark was by him.
@@franshinlopen2166 Quite right, what was I thinking? I think that's called, in impolite circles, a "brain fart".
Thanks for the correction Frans.
No worries! A former colleague used to call this a short circuit in brain/memory/whatever. We've all had them!
There is a version where Floor is even more expressive with the "close your eyes and take a peek" but I can't find it anymore.
Thanks The Thamesmen! This Wembley concert is magical. The show opener "Shudder Before the Beautiful", "7 Days to the Wolves", "Greatest Show on Earth" and of course "The Poet and the Pendulum" are my favorites from this show. The latter two are the masterpieces that need a little bit research before making a reaction video. Then you will get the full effect.
Noted.... Thanks for being here and more NW soon.
For some reason this is slowed down. I have the Wembley DVD and this tract is a touch faster than in this reaction.
Try yours is an empty hope from the same concert (Wembly) to see a different side of Floor :)

To get to hear more of Troy: "I want my Tears Back" from Buenos Aires :-)
Noted and thanks for this. Thanks for being here and more NW soon.
For more of Troy last of the wilds it's an instrumental
Check out Marko's own band TAROT.
Tarot: Undead Indeed 06 "Tides"
Tides is the name of the song, Undead Indeed 06 the name of the DVD.
Great vocals by Marko, guitar solo by his brother Zachary (officially Sakari).
I'd add to that, this acoustic version of Stigmata, just Marko and Zachary with acoustics and Marko singing, from 1995, promoting the then-upcoming album on some tv show in Japan: ua-cam.com/video/RfE722Whj5s/v-deo.html
And for something entertaining, here's a fan-cam of Marko and Troy at (I believe) a trade show of some sort in 2012, Marko vocals and acoustic and Troy on the pipes, doing Jethro Tull's Locomotive Breath: ua-cam.com/video/uXfkWL6MK0I/v-deo.html
Yes, yes, yes!
GREAT Reaction as ever…stay on track…devil and the deep dark ocean from Buenos aires
Choo choo!!
Floor wrote a song Strong for her mother live in Doorroosje nijmegen, and she did a show The beste zangers where she skngs a couple of songs and a duet Phantom of the opera
Hi again from UK - yes it was at Wembley arena , I see them there in December ( hopefully) .
Yes I agree with the comments “7 Days to the wolves “ at Wembley ( based on a Stephen King novel) you are ready !! and by the way “poet and the pendulum “was not played at Wacken when you get around to it ; they play it rarely so it’s the Wembley version you need and then onto Greatest Show on Earth at Tampere ( I assume you know Troy is from UK , Workington ?) keep reacting 👍
Thanks for watching
Alpenglow, Storytime, Shudder Before the Beautiful I love the up-tempo power.
More to come!! Thanks for being here and more NW soon.
10th man down, also a awesome song of them..give it a try. thanx.. greets from the netherlands.
Rock on! Thanks for being here and more NW soon.
It shows when you have exclusively world class musicians and songwriters together, what you can achieve. Fully agree, simply superb.
And worldclass reactors like George and I :) NOT
@@TheThamesmen you sell yourselves short. There are many reactors who don't know names from the band even when they "really like it and think it's the best band ever" (goes to every band they react to) or don't bother with responding in the comments.
You're fun and, as far as I can tell, genuine, the reasons why you have hundreds of like today, thousands tomorrow and zero dislikes.
Alpenglow comes from the German Alpenglühen (translates to glowing alps), which is an optical effect you see in the mountains, more specifically it is an optical phenomenon that appears as a horizontal reddish glow near the horizon opposite to the Sun when the solar disk is just below the horizon (according to wiki).
Another great reaction and if you want more - there isn't going to be any problem there! So many great routes to take but perhaps a taste of their heavier stuff? The full concert would be great and I'd join you for that! It is a good representation of their variety and range and it's structured cleverly from the first song being us opening the 'Dark Chest of Wonders' to closing with the 'Last Ride of the Day'.
Noted David - Thanks
To my ears, it sounded like your entire reaction video is slowed down or at least the NW video itself. The song just didn't sound in the key it should be.
jubjub bird is from lewis caroll alice through the looking glass and jaberwockyy
Alpenglow is one of the few "meh" songs to me. I don't dislike it, but I never crank it up, like I do for nearly every other Nightwish song performed with Floor on vocals.
It is a fun song and not every song can be a belter!
@@TheThamesmen I understand that. and I I don't need it to be a rocker for me to like it. Just something about that song doesn't grab me, like all the other NW songs seem to. That being said, NightWish is still my favorite band, and I listen to them nearly everyday.
and I'm glad you reacted to it, as it gives you a chance to see another side of NW.
@@peterbell3199 Alex here - I am with you bro!
love you guys...DO IT...The entire Vacken concert!!
HA HA - You will get bored of us but this is moving up the order on the to do
OUTSTANDING. Watching Nightwish in the AM first thing is never a bad thing. After countless Thamesmen reactions I failed to make the connection to either George's remarkable resemblance to Troy Donockley, or Nightwish has been ripping off James Bond. This is an all English thing, isn't it? My recommendation for you is to stick with this concert and check out My Walden. Troy delivers the most wonderful short Thank You to his hometown fans during his first appearance ever at Wembley. Guaranteed to warm the rain soaked hearts of a couple of Brits.
Thanks David.... Be well!
Jukka left in late 2013 due to his insomnia but selected Kai Hahto as his replacement as great friend and teacher. A great song to hear Troy on pipes is "I Want My Tears Back' at Buenos Aires 2018.
Poor Jukka.... that's not to be messed with.
Hi moderndays hippies 🤣🤣🤣

We did that recently and omg it was amazing. Check the channel a few video ago
Nice reaction. I love their up-tempo, melodic ones best too.
Many thanks - Be well. Thanks for being here and more NW soon.
No, it was not raining! It was very nice temperate weather. I was in the Wembley Hilton after a horrific British Airways flight from Amsterdam and I went out to explore after checking in. Imagine my surprise at seeing Emppu outside smoking with some of the crew! The following day I had breakfast next to their (German) drum tech, saw Jukka Nevalainen (the original drummer who had to quit because of insomnia, but who became their CFO) and had an "After you. No, after you experience" with Tuomas Holopainen leaving the elevator. I am still kicking myself for not going to the hotel bar after the concert because apparently many interesting things were said according to the sadly defunct Nightwish forum
Super cool!!!!
@@TheThamesmen I had two tickets to this show. I didn't know much about the provenance of one of these, so I managed to sell it to a -. This had nothing to do with the band who where just great as always, but with the people in front of me talking over the beginning of TGSOE, completely ruining the introduction. I called them out, and they said sorry, but went on. I seriously considerd emptying my waterbottle over their heads after the finale.
My least favourite experience was in Antwerp three days before. I got kicked above an eyebrow by a panicking crowdsurfer. Pro- tip: If you are going to crowdsurf, don't wear leather shoes.
... to a scalper... No idea why this went wrong.
Another fun reaction to a real feel-good song. Regarding the many choices in terms of continuing discovering the band, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you feel like doing something you should just do it. There are so many great songs left (in my opinion the best are yet to come) so you're not likely to run into any duds.
As people have undoubtedly already said, I would just recommend that when you get to the two longer, epic songs (The Poet and the Pendulum and The Greatest Show on Earth) you should read up a little bit on what they are about. I do think they come alive even more when knowing the subject material, particularly the former one as it's very emotionally driven.
Marko/NW's .... Pink Floyd Tribute *High Hopes* !
Already done..... did a special on that!
oh sheeesh....somewhat happened that version is more slowed down than everything i have heard so far ... its like a lullaby in this version :( ... guys you should listen to the correct speeded version

@@TheThamesmen simply use the links provided by Gabriel, and carefull while editing, it happens easy while editing to stretch the video + audio file :) or most simple is you guys call out to someone who knows the track and give him a first listen before putting public.another way is to look up how long the track is in original and then look to your timecodes ... but as usual, great reaction and i am waiting for more

Going back again to see your Nightwish reactions---you guys are fun to watch. BTW, I have four Nightwish concert BD/DVDs, including this one. There is something just a little bit "off" about the sound of the song in this video. Not sure what it is, but this was not 100% in tune. Maybe it's just me?...but I thought you should know. And George could definitely sneak backstage at a Nightwish show. Say hello to Troy in LA, he might enjoy seeing his long lost cousin.
