Talent is an incredible thing. What impressed me more was seeing a young man who was polite, able to have a conversation, had good manners, and comported himself well in front of a LOT of people. Very rare these days.

Both of them more talented than the average Bluegrass player, for sure. Ricky Scaggs is a great role model for Carson to look up to, and you're exactly right, you know his parents didn't let him sit around playing video games all day. What a talented young man. Bravo!

Regarding your first sentence, Ricky certainly is. As far as Carson, yes he's great for a kid, but I think saying he's better than the average (adult) bluegrass player is letting your emotions cloud your judgment a little.

I live in Nashville and I have been to the Opry possibly 50 times. I go obviously to see the old timers who have been there forever and who have produced hit after hit after hit and I also go to see newcomers to the Opry (I was there the very first time Carrie Underwood performed on the Opry) but It is always a great joy to see unknown singers or musicians see a dream come true as they perform on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry! Kudos to stars like Ricky Skaggs who allow unknown talents like Carson to perform on their part of the show. What a talent this young man has!

You are spot on when you talk about the talent of children going to waste because lazy parents would rather let their kids be babysitted by an iPad rather than engage them in something that will make them better people. I know I’m 2 years late to this but, whatever lol. I remember watching this YEARD AGO. Many people in the comment section are right though the Grand Ole Opry is a DREAM come true for many country/Bluegrass musicians in the south. Being from southern Kentucky aka “the bluegrass state” this made me VERY happy to see him sing a little bit about our very diverse culture. I’m in high school and am a very devoted Christian but, I gotta agree with you. Many kids nowadays don’t have a real connection to their culture and ancestors (I come from Irish, Scottish, and German on my maternal side) and I’m very proud of that. I’m also very proud of where I come from! Kentucky might not be the most “popular” or “a shining star” but I love that cause we don’t want nobody else coming here who won’t respect our culture and faith! God bless him and God bless you! ❤️❤️

My grandson has taught himself to play the guitar watching, youtube instruction videos. The internet has very positive things to it. They both play games on the internet but spend just as much time learning how to do things. My oldest grandson at 17 taught himself to work on his car from a tutorial. His younger brother took Piano lessons so he could learn to read music. He's taught himself to play the piano better and play guitar. There are benefits. It's the parents that will make all the difference.

You are VERY right what you said at the end. I was a kid growing up in the 1980's and I never would have learned guitar if we had internet or current video games. When you don't have all the entertainment distractions you have to depend on your own imagination and make your own fun. And i played guitar in my room night after night and then started on the piano. I'm glad the internet didn't come a long until I was in my mid-20's. I enjoy the technology of today but I still feel kind of lucky that I grew up really in the last generation before internet.
