Came to know how the field of criticism is not up to the mark as it should have been...also the speaker feels about absence of quality of poetry being written except a few names...having an online class-experience from interview....absolutely impressive in expression of ideas with references...

An interesting interview though it was concise. Prof Mazahari has not talked about Prof Shamim Hanafi. I am a great admirer of Prof Hanafi. He was an outstanding scholar. He was a very articulate person, better than Shamsual Rahman Farouqi and Dr Gopi Chand Narang. Prof Surender Bhutani in Warsaw (Poland)

Mashallah very informative and incisive discussion. I was listening to Asfaque Hussain's interview prior to this and he was retelling how Persian was included in the syllabus of M. A. Urdu during his student days in early 70s . The suggestion of including translation pieces from works of classic literature written in English language for students of Urdu is indeed good and is need of the hour. In fact there is need to include not only translations from English language but also from other literary traditions too so as to broaden perspectives of our students. I teach English language and literature in a government administered college in Pakistan and we teach African literature, World literature in translation to our students besides Continental literature and Post Colonial literature. The same approach should also be adopted towards teaching literature to students in Urdu language , both here in Pakistan as well as in India.
