The timing of the interviews and clips looks seamless! I can’t imagine how much prep had to go into the coordination of the timing so Armin would know how much lead and playtime to give each song … not to mention knowing what tunes are suitable to play in the background when the hosts and guests took to the mic. One of the best things about those top 1000 episodes is that it makes us remember some forgotten good lost tracks, and others that we didn't catch either here on ASOT or any other trance radio show. For that we are really grateful.

I like the idea of an annual Top 1000! It has the potential to attract old fans back, opportunity for them to share their memories and introduce more classic tunes that may be forgotten to the newer fans! You could even break up the battle to within each era, i.e., a Top 250 for 1996-2003 (classic trance), not sure how to break it up but maybe 2004-2010 (pure trance of the middle years), 2011-2017 (big room trance explosion), 2018-present. Overall top 50 across the generations. Draw it out over weeks.
I really like this idea of Top lists based on the various eras!! The only problem I fear is the amount of work that goes into one Top 1000, let alone several... But it would be a grand idea to have lists that resonate with the various generations... I got into Trance in 2003 but didnt actively follow any show until ASOT in 2005... Would be so cool to discover more stuff from that era! 😄

At the beginning of the 2000s, Tiësto was one of the best in Trance, notably with "Adagio For Strings", "Silence Remix"... and his great live performances in big room indoor. But nowadays, he has completely abandoned this style for mainstream Dance Music. Unlike Armin van Buuren and Ferry Corsten who even though they produced many other styles of EDM, they managed to keep Trance as our main style and still manage to captivate.
What is more - his 'sound' was unique, both as a producer (yes I know he didn't make all aspects of his songs), and as a DJ. And nobody really filled his shoes. He played a tough, edgier mix of progressive trance, melodic trance and tech trance with big uplifting sprinkled in. His sound from 2001 through 2004 was probably his best sound - even though his 1999 and 2000 vibe was super uplifting.

I reckon a lot of the voters are on the younger side, some of them will have no idea who he is.Besides you could easily replace his name with Dennis Waakop Reijers as he was the one that actually produced a lot of Tiesto's music while Tijs was the frontman.

The top ten definitely had a lot more older tracks than I thought there would be. At the same time it's not inconceivable that someone born between say 2004 - 2008 haven't heard Theme from Norefjell or Flight 643 or are scarcely aware of who he is. My main point is really that all this praise always goes to Tiesto when in reality throughout his career almost everything he has done has been produced by others. Dennis Waakop Reijers isn't the only producer as Geert Huinink, Cor Fijneman and others produced the most famous tracks. When people yearn for that old Tiesto and begs for his comeback,in reality they are yearning for the Dennis Waakop Reijers sound. Seriously look it up. He has done something like 200 productions and remixes for Tiesto. Everything from Traffic, Lethal Industry, Suburban train, Adagio for strings, Ten seconds before sunrise , Delerium - Silence remix, Moby - We Are All Made Of Stars remix, Faithless Tweak Your Nipple remix, Paul Oakenfold - Southern Sun remix etc etc.
