A little hint as I saw you always clicking onto the formation leader manually: By pressing the middle mouse button, you can also select the formation leader
This doesn't only work on aircraft, but on ships aswell. And if you happen to have mouse buttons at the side of your mouse (m4 and m5 I think), those can be used to switch through the formation members
To be fair to the Soviet ships, their primary means of locating enemy ships was supposed to be Tu-142 maritime patrol aircraft. The aircraft were IIRC also supposed to offer mid-course guidance update for later generations of Soviet ASMs.
The Kiev class also carries the same SS-N-12 Sandbox missiles as the Slava, in the front launch tubes, could have used them instead of Yaks with strike loadout, anyways, job done, that's what matters. Nice content!
I may be incorrect in remembering this BrotherMunro, but I believe I saw Wolfpack345 manually redirect Sandbox Missiles (via radio signal guidance) yesterday on a Sino-Soviet war co-lab scenario. Worth a look to see if that the case in the weapons info. If so, that offers a considerable flexibility to an otherwise older "less capable" missile system (at least in Comparison to the end-all be-all Shipwrecks). Night missions seem pretty high stakes when you can't see what's out there. Thank goodness you had a firepower advantage. This would be truly a scary scenario w/ a full U.S. Carrier Taskforce (& nigh impossible if the AI were able to properly use Anderson AFB @ Guam).
@@BrotherMunro oh Bugger! I just rewatched that part (of the vid). Turns out those were actually the older Shaddock missiles from like the early 1960's. No idea if that feature is also baked into the more "modern" Sandbox. Sorry... Still worth a look though.
@@stuartmehlberg808 I imagine it's not as necessary for an SS-N-12 because it travels about twice as fast as an SS-N-3 (at least) over a similar range so it might not need course corrections as much.
Can't you just say a plain no to some Ad's? Clicking to skip the fucking 'Hero-Wars' Ad's 20 times a day have started to become a bit too annoying and time-consuming.

Oh that’s *super* useful!! Thank you!

This is the best named mission so far. MOVE ZIG!!!

Yak Friendly fire
Seems like a pretty unlikely scenario for Soviets to break out into the Pacific like that and with no long range naval aviation support.
I’m thinking of doing a modified version of this mission, need to play blue side first
From where though? You'd have to go past South Korea and either overfly or go around Japan. Even the direct route is over 3400km

Oh that’s interesting, I know wire guided torps can be ordered around mid course - I shall have a look to see if those missiles can as well

You don't have to be worry at the beginning of the video - pilot of heli just inform you that he deployed sonobuoy :)
Loving your SP content, Munro! Keep it up :)
Your Yaks are screaming along at 589 kts. Maybe try slowing them down a bit to see if the range goes up.
You can issue emmissions and weapon status orders to entire formations..might speed things up a little
I find that’s really spotty, sometimes it works and sometimes it really doesn’t 😅
Curious why you didn't select long range Air to Air for the Yak loadouts?
They don't have that loadout option sadly
You have no chance to survive make your time.

I *wish* I had control over the ads running on the channel. Aside from saying no to entire categories I don’t have any say in what YT serves up.
YOU can -- but it's up to YOU to be savvy enough to figure it out.
